  1. Hi Ladies.  I've got 30 straw beach bags that would be perfect to stuff with goodies for your guests as they arrive to your beach wedding.  Each bag is lined with a colorful cotton fabric in bright beach colors, pink, blue, aqua, orange, lime green.  If you are concerned about a color scheme you only see the lining when you look into the bag and can always stuff tissue paper in it with your own color.  I bought them from target for my destination wedding and we've had to cancel.  But I'm sure one of you lovely brides will do great things with them.  I'm selling them as a group and shipping would be at an additional cost via UPS Ground.  Send me your zip code for estimate of shipping cost.  The bags dimensions are 13"W x 13"L x 5"D.

  2. What a beautiful dress!  You look gorgeous!

    Congratulations!

I missed the one in Chicago & was anxious to go to the one in Ohio. We got there at 8:30 & the place was already packed. At that particular location, there were a TON of ivory gowns, so finding a white gown was my most difficult task. I had a total of 4 "team" members while other BTB had 10 plus... a little overwhelming because each team member was grabbing 5 plus dresses each. The racks were empty at times but were replenished by the workers that day.

I did not like how some of the girls would try in a dress, not like it, throw it on the floor or over the racks..possibly damaging the dresses. I made sure to hang up each dress & put it back in the bag. The day was great! I wore a "spanx" type under piece & designated a spot in the store where we met at & tried on my dresses there. It was really easy & I did get overwhelmed after trying on so many...but I finally found the one! I had no idea what I wanted but I knew what I didn't want.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience, we had a blast, got excited about the wedding day, & created a special memory. It was worth it for me. I found my DREAM dress, it fit my Mexican theme wit the lace & I loved the fit. http://www.bestbridalprices.com/images/moonlight/spring09/large/H9910.jpg The picture is shown in ivory, my dress is white. All of the dresses I tried on & the one I bought was in perfect condition. It retails for $1200 & I got it for $268 with tax, giving me some extra money for shoes & my BD shoot!!!!!!!

  3. Eunice!  Thank you so much for posting.  They did a fabulous job!  You look beautiful! My hair is similar to yours (the natural curls a little tighter which makes my hair a little thicker) but it would be the same process. So if she could work yours she can work mine!

Do you know if they go to Cancun?

I went to do a site visit a few weeks ago and had a trial done by Norma Fernandez - who works for MAC in Cancun.  She is SUUUUPER nice and did an AWESOME job for my trial and her prices are soo much more reasonable compared to a few other artists in town.  She brought another girl with her, Lesley, to do my hair and i had my reservations about how she did. I literally came out of the pool, washed my hair and plopped down for my trial - yes a sopping mop of tangled mess.  I don't know any other worse scenario I could have given Lesley so I was thinkng to myself- if i come out of this half decent she's good.  I need a ton of heat for my hair - and its THICK-  i swear i have enough hair for two people. and its long.  my fears were suddenly alleviated when after blow drying my hair out into a crazy 'fro, she whipped out a chi flat iron.  :)   about a half hour later of curling and twirling i had a fancy wavy updo that she fastened with some kind of clip and rubber band and bobby pins.  I want to wear my hair up for the ceremony and dinner then let it out and down for the dancing. I didn't get too specific with style - i just let Norma and Jen do their thang and it turned out really really awesome.  My fi was there and I think he really really liked it b/c my makeup just looked like an enhancement of me - i didn't look a completely different person. the makeup felt light -  I asked for natural and to play up my eyes with lashes.  and it came out great!  i'm posting a random pic of what my hair looks like natural - and then the "after" pics.  any questions  just ask!

  4. Jackie_C,

How far in advance of the wedding did you arrive?  I was just starting to think of the logistics of carrying linens and decor stuff and getting all that stuff situated and carrying to OOT bag stuff and getting bags stuffed and delivered before guest arrive.

How much time do youthink it would take and do you think my fiance and I could carry all that stuff with us?

  5. Hey AshleyNicole.

Depending on the cost for the hotel to provide it I'm planning on bringing some decor stuff as well.  There are lots of places to look for stuff but I think Jackie's recomendation to look see what brides on the boards recommend is best.

You could also go to a fabric shop and make stuff yourself if you're crafty.

As for photographers, my Miami wedding coordinator said I can bring in a photographer for the day if I buy a day pass for them.  So you'll have lots of options.  The brides on this boards have written extensively about ones that they like.  I started my reasearch ehre on teh this board and also checked out http://www.wpja.com/  Alot of the better photograpehrs are members of that assocaition.

I may request sample photos from their current photographer and see what those look like.

  6. Thanks for the kind words.  I had such a hard time getting in the spirit of dress shopping.  No matter what I tried on it just seemed like another white dress.  when I tried this dress on my sister and best friend, who are maids of honors, cried.  And the mom's who were there shopping with their daughters just said, "honey you better get that dress."  So I got it.  Everyone just thought it looked great on my skin tone.

But now I'm started to get really excited cause I took it to a wonderful seamstress and she took off the bow, is making the neck line a sweet heart neckline and made the skirt a real mermaid skirt.

    So now I love it!

I say all of that to say if anyone is thinking of hitting the sale I say go.  Even if you don't find the dress  of your dreams, you can always turn a good dress into the dress of your dreams cheesy.gif

  7. We're all set for June 18, 2011.  We're expecting about 50-60 guests, so we'll have private functions and all that jazz.

Its cool to have private functions, not so cool to have to figure out how to pay for decor.  It also drives up the extras.

For example, I'm currently in the process of choosing between decor, extras like fire works for ceremony and fire dancers for rehearsal dinner, and a top quality photographer.  At the end of the day, somethings' gotta give.

Did you use the hotel's photographer or did you handle that another way?  Are you satisfied with your pictures?

I'm SO happy I brought the chair bows as it added that punch of colour we needed for the ceremony.  After that I asked them to take them off the ceremony chairs and tie them onto the wooden ones in the Italian restaurant to match my table runners and centerpieces at dinner.

I'll have to upload some of my pics to a photobucket album so you can see more details of the wedding.

I was trying to cut costs left and right so I also did a false base for my wedding cake, so that I could have the look of a tiered cake, but not at the extra cost. (I think a large cake is around $150)  Also if you are having a private reception, the buffet menus come with a lot of dessert, so everyone doesn't always eat the wedding cake.

When is your wedding?? I hate that the new BDW format doesn't tell me all the B2B's wedding dates and locations, how can a spy and by excited about all the upcoming weddings?! :D

  8. That's exactly what I wantedt o hear Jackie!  I was thinking of bringing some decor with me, so its good to know that they are open to that.

I kind of have my heart set on chivari chairs, but seeing how beautiful your's looked with the bows you brought, I'm thinking why spend the extra money on that?

    I'm so exctied!

If there are things you'd like to bring, instead of rent from the hotel, they are very accommodating.  I was trying to keep my budget really low, so I brought my own chair bows, table runners, centerpieces, ring holders, cake topper, etc and Rebeca set it up all beautifully!  My luggage there was quite heavy, but it was mostly the OOT bag, esp 'cause of the bulky travel mugs.

The reviews you hear on tripadvisor sound too good to be true, but they're not.  All the staff is constantly checking to make sure you're happy and everything is going the way you want it.

I also got a pic of my wedding set up today for those who are curious.  I did the complimentary wedding, and think it ended up looking beautiful!

I'm not sure if you are getting the $1500 Palace Dollars for your guests or not, but my guests really took advantage of the perks.  Some of your vacation gets eaten up waiting at the booking tables to reserve tours and spas, but after you've swam with the dolphins, got a body wrap at the spa, or taken a complimentary limo around Cancun, you realize it's worth the wait!  DH and I were too busy to use the promotions, but it was really comforting to know our guests would have lots of activities to do, at no extra cost to them.

The big thing there is, if you want something, just ask.  The worst they can say is no, and usually they say yes.

"Can I get purple flowers in my complimentary bouquet?" "Sure, no problem!"

"Can I get extra appys at our dinner and a vegetarian option" "Yes, of course"

I asked for rose petals to throw on the night before our wedding, and they were able to get them last minute, and even verified the colour I wanted.

    *sigh* take me back!!

    Any questions though, ask away!

  9. Thats what I figured.  Hopefully it won't be too bad in June and if it is maybe we can make arrangements to have a tent to block out some of the sun.

Any otehr tips now that you've gone through the whole process?

At 6pm the sun is almost down, so it's not that hot anymore.  It would be the same temp as having your ceremony super early in the day.  The bad side is that if it does rain, it was usually for half an hour or so around 7 or 8pm, so if you're planning an outdoor private reception, rain could be a possibility.  No worries though, the rain passes very quickly in Cancun.

It actually was crazy raining and INTENSE wind less than an hour before the start of our ceremony and we were trying to convince her to let us have it on the sky terrace in the rain 'cause the indoor location is this awful meeting room like a crappy conference room of a hotel.  The rooftop is hot, but it's so stunning.  My guests couldn't stop snapping pics up there.

There were 3 other 6pm wedding in the 10 nights I was there, so I think everyone has the same idea as you :)

  10. Hey AsheleyNicole.  Sorry for delaying in getting this info to you but when I read the description of the Diamond package in teh pdf description sent by the weddings department it says silver sashes.  So that is probably the diamond package.

This is the package I've selected but the gray fabric looks nothing like the brochure pic but the aisle decor and chandelier do. I may need to change if that's what it actually looks like. 11. Hey Jackie!  Congratulations!  Thanks a Million for checking back in.  This is awesome!

How was the temperature up there for your wedding?  A friend of mine was at a wedding there 1 month ago at 6pm on a Saturday and said it was unbearably hot and suggested I start thinking right away about having the ceremony indoors.

Was a ceremony on the sky lounge too hot to handle?

The grounds are intimate enough to find your friends and family, but large enough to have your own space time, or a meal for just you and FI if you like.  The pools were gorgeous and the pictures of the rooms and hotel on the website and that you see floating around are EXACTLY what the place really looks like.  The rooms are spacious and the jetted tubs were so nice at the end of a long day (or if you were too tired or hungover to make it to dinner).  A lot of people just got room service and sat in their tubs and watched tv late at night.  Rough life, I know.

I'll attach some of the photos I took for you girls in separate posts since I know I was digging like crazy for any info on Beach Palace.  Ahhhh it was so amazing!!!

  12. I found my dress at teh DC running of the brides.  So for any bride that's out there wondering if they should go, GO!  It's worth it.  Just have the right attitude.  Stay open minded and willing to try on anyting that may fit.  Even if you don't get any of those dresses it gets your team excited and motivated to get as many dresses as possible for you to try on.  (and yes, please don't try to do this event without a team). As they go out and get as many dresses as they can for you other people wonder your way with trades because they hope that you haev soemthing they want in your very large pile of dresses.  My dress came to me by way of trade and it ws gorgeous.  No damages or anything that needed repair.  I am getting it taken in a bit because its kind of a non-commital skirt.  Not really an A-line not really a mermaid.  So my seamstress is making it more of a mermaid, taking off the bow and giving it a sweet heart neckline.  But when I'm done, it will be the only dress like it out there, period.

Anyway, thanks for letting me rant.  I'm glad otehr brides had a great experience as well.

  13. That's a good guess but I'm pretty suer they can get what ever color fabric you want up there.  I'm wondering how much it would cost to get some flowers up there.

Probably the best thing to do is ask the wedding coordinator.  I'm sure they can execute whatever you want done.

  14. Great suggestions ladies.    We decided to send out post card STD's.  On the backside we have said the following:

Join us for our wedding in paradise!

Bride and Groom say "I Do."

    Cancun, Mexico

    June 2011

    Reception

    New York City

    October 2011

    Formal invitation to follow.

For more information please visit our website.

I thought this way everyone knows upfront they can come to either, neither or both.  I'm not worried about those that use the AHR as an excuse to not come to Mexico.  Frankly, I'm glad their saving me the time it takes to make the extra OOT bag smile29.gif

  15. she might have jsut gotten the complimentary package and either paid extra for gray fabric or they had it available and jsut used it instead.  Or she might have brought it with her.  But definately not a wedding package.
