  1. Sephora waterproof eyeliner is the one recommended in one of my magazines as the "best".
  2. We did the ATV excursion through cancun-discounts.com and had a blast. They pick you up, ride avts to cenotes (2 different ones) lunch (YUUUMMMM) and then snorkeling. Then return you back to Dreams. It was a fun filled day with 15 people from our group. It was $104 PP riding single. It covered a bit of everything. Very nice and accomadating company. Then we did the dolfin swim through Dreams. Good but pricey. The younger ones were suppose to do the bar crawl, but after talking to locals on our ATV trip, we decided a safety issue was there. They did not recommend it at the time we were there 6-10. We took their advice and stayed at the resort.
  3. jwashing, While weddings are gorgeous, there really isn't any night life to speak of. They had carribean night and brought in vendors, that were EXTREMELY rude. We left it quickly. Mexican night is good, but it ends early. So if you are looking for night activites, this is not the place.
  4. Sorry for the delay, we did NOT have to pay extra for the El Patio. We all just met in the lobby and went on in. It was PERFECT.
  5. There is absolutely no privacy on the balcony. Not only do your next door neighbors see you, so do the ones across the garden area. The plunge pools are the same, NO privacy.
  6. We had our welcome dinner at El Patio with 15 people. It was a blast. We just got there when they opened and we had one big table. They let us order whatever we wanted and then they brought lots of appetizers and different drinks. It worked out fine and we worried like crazy before we left.
  7. The wine room is awesome. You can order from the French or Italian restaurant. The food and service was fabulous. We used it for our rehearsal dinner. We had 15 people and it was very cozy. Let the waiter make suggestions on food. Ours brought different things that what we would have ordered and it was wonderful. Nothing negative to say about the room or meal. Just pay attention to the wine you are ordering. Make sure you check the list and not let them pick it out. They are a business and you may be surprised by the price at the end. We were!
  8. We took chair sashes, cloth colored napkins and maracas. The were all put in their palce for no extra charge.
  9. There was no limit, but they had quite a few bottles that were like $40 or so and when you use your coupon it is not to bad. The one that ordered, stepmom, didn;t look at the list, she just let them recommend some. It is fine if you pay attention to the list and prices. We only had 15 people in our group. It was greatm it was just our fault for not paying attention to what we were getting. Of course they want to sell more, you just say no. We had the mexican trio, because it was in the package. I do not think we needed them. They played at cocktail hour and it was loud and almost in the way. Just my opinion, you may like it. We were on the balcony by Desires lounge, whick was real nice, but like I said, I wish we had not had them. We also did the ultimate and there is a difference between menus. We ended up mixing and matching menus. Since the ultimate is the higher end, we had no problems picking off the gold too. I think we could have gone with the wine cellar the night of the wedding and then everyone orders their own dinners. GREAT FOOD They order their own drinks and you order the extra wines. And they did not rush us out of there either. I think you would be happy with that.
  10. We used the wine room for our rehearsal dinner. You can order from both restaurants like lilly129 said. The food was out of this world. BUT the cost of some of the wines are $$$$$$. One they suggested was $275 and we did not check the price before hand. So be aware of what you are ordering. It ended up costing us $475 for 3 bottles of wine!!! It is nice and private, you get GREAT service too. The first night all 15 of us went to the mexican restaurant and had no problems getting a big table. Wonderful time and at no extra cost. It seems a bit carzy to pay for food and drinks that you actually have already paid for. We had the reception in the Asian restaurant. We did it as a private one, and it was real nice. The air conditioning was a plus. The menu was picked ahead of time, but all the food was delicious.
  11. The garden area is gorgeous, it is in the middle of the hotel, but there is not much traffic there. While we were there for the week we never saw an actual wedding there. alisonjimmy, we were never able to get ahold of Ana for any details after the deposit was taken. BUT, with that said, we met with her the day before and set all the detail up. From food to flowers, music and final decorations. Ana is very effecient with all your details. She has a check list and covers everything and pulls it off wonderfully. The girls had their make up and hair done in the salon also. The hair was just like the pictures they took with them and the makeup felt "heavy" but looks amazing in the pictures. They are not cheap, but they looked gorgeous.
  12. The gazebo is NO WAY near private. The beach location was and the set up is beautiful. The terrace is ok, but it sort of defeats the purpose of the beach destination wedding. IMO for what that is worth.
  13. The jacuzzi area is beautiful. It is in the center of the resort, like a garden area. The restaurant worked well for us, either way Ana makes the setup gorgeous.
  14. I do not know the name of the DJ. There was not dance floor lighting and only a couple of lights on a pole. Three guys sat there talking to each other. I am sorry I did not pay more attention to the name. My advice is to ask more questions on which company it is. Sorry Ivan, I was not pointing fingers, I just want other Brides to know what happened to us.
  15. From the MOB point of view. Ana makes it all come together once you are there. We met with her the day before and she gives you all the time you need with her. She has a check list and does everything you want. We mixed and matched the menu together. We had the chicken entree, which was amazing! All the food was teriffic. The cake on the other hand is pretty ugly. We knew it was going to be white, but it was not good. I took my flowers apart and decorated the cake for pictures. That made it alot better. SO take your own. Our guest did not eat it,even though it was delicious, because the meal was real filling. We had the reception in the Aisian restaurant, which worked out perfect for us with the air conditioning. It is windy and hot on the beach, but it was sure gorgeous for the ones that want it outdoors. We took our own chair sashes and they were put on with no problem. We also took fushia napkins and maracas. The tables were set up just as we asked. You really do not need to take table decorations, they supplied glass vases with candles and rose petals in and around the vases. JUST BEAUTIFUL! No need to carry all kinds of extras, Ana takes care of it all. The flowers were exactly what we wanted. BUT, the extra bouquets were $60 each and while they are beautiful, they only had them in hand for the ceremony and a few pictures. I would have brought artificial from home knowing what I know now for the bridesmaids. The music is one thing I was not happy with. We ended up going with the DJ, at $300 an HOUR, not included taxes. They only introduced the bride and groom, PERIOD. They never talked the rest of the night. Cake cutting, dances etc. We were worried about a guest having to mess with the ipod, but this was an expense that was not necessary. We had songs on the ipod that we wanted at certain times. They would start one and we knew who was suppose to dance to that song. They just sat there. They did play good music, but for $1000, you can spend a little bit of time and put them on your own ipod. Pictures were awesome. We had Juankarlos,(sp) from the resort. He did engagement, wedding and trash the dress a few days later. We bought everything. The package included 50, but there was absolutely no way to pick just 50. Just let him do his thing and you will be extremely happy. We had the wedding on the beach. The gazebo is right next to the pool and everyone is right there while you are getting married. Not for us, but they were beautiful. Don't forget they are on Mexican time. The wedding was scheduled for 6:30 and it started around 7:15. So don't be alarmed, it all works out.
  16. We just got back yesterday from my daughters wedding. Do not worry about things, Ana is amazing. We met with her the day before the wedding and picked out all the food. We had a cocktail hour which I do not feel we needed. It was good, but our guest were ready for dinner. We used their DJ, we should have also skipped him. He said nothing all night and just played songs. We could have done the same with our ipod, which we took so that we were sure we had the right songs. So $300 an hour, the $900 was not worth the $ at all. You just need to rent the sound system and play your own. Exspecially since the DJ did not speak. Not for the cake or dances, NOTHING. The cake is pretty ugly. They said it was just white frosting, so we assumed there would be some type of edgeing or something, NOTHING So we took the BM bouquet apart and put the flowers on the cake for pictures. But no one ate it because you are so full and had dessert for dinner. So I would not pay to upgrade, just bring artificial or taking our bouquet apart worked. The flowers were pretty dead by the end of the night anyways. You can't take them home, so double use them. The table decorations were glass with rose petals and candles in the middle. If you are outside the candles blow out, it is real windy. We had our inside because of the air conditioner. We also took our own chair sashes and colored cloth napkins. The The had everything set up just like we asked. We took maracas to sit on the napkins and that gave the guest a little extra favor. Shake for a kiss. We used fushia napkins and put an orange ribbon on them and then the maracas. Added alot of color at a low cost. We got the sashes for $1 a piece. The plain white chairs looked pretty stark by themselves. The sashes really look pretty there. Our ceremony was on the beach. It is off to the side and gorgeous. The gazebo is right in the middle of everything. NOT private at all. Exspecially if you have it during the day. Lots of people floating around the pool right next to it. And walking all around. It was pretty, but to much going on for our taste. We used the photographer from the resort. The pictures were amazing. Our package includes 50, but there is not way to only pick 50. They also did trash the dress which they could use as part of their 50. They were all so good that it is impossible to pick ones. The bride and groom are still there and still are trying to dwindle the pictures down. As far as hair and makeup, they did a perfect job. Their hair stayed all night. Lots of product and LOTS of makeup, but they know what they are doing. I had a visor on the few days before the wedding and it is so windy when we were taking pictures that my hair blew off my WHITE forhead. I never even thought about it, so make sure you tan your forhead too. The service is wonderful, but it almost seems like you have to tip. They were very accomadating, but you do have to consider quite a bit of extra $ for tips. They upgraded the happy couple to a master suite. It was bigger than an apartment. They covered their room with roses and candles the night of the wedding. Their is NO privacy on any of the balconys. We never saw anyone in them. And the plung pools only were used by a few people that had little kids. There are kids there, but mostly they were fine. There were two boys around 10-11 and they were terribly obnoxious. We along with others told them we were taking them to their parents. They finally left the infinity pool and went to one of the others and bugged people over there. Alot of kids crying in the restaurants, but we would go to dinner between 6 -8 pm. And remember they are on Mexican time. Evertyhing runs late, so don't frett. Our wedding was first set at 7, we moved it up to 6:30 when we met with Ana. It still did not happen until 7:10. Sunset was at 7:30 and we had to hurry to get pictures, We did not get group shots on the beach because we only had enough light time to get the bride and groom. If we would have known, we would have bumped it to 6. We watched lots of weddings, on day they had 3. They never ran into each other, it is very well organized. So do not worry if there are others on your same day, we had two others and it was just fine. We did not even see the other ones. Any questions that you have, just ask, I will be happy to try and answer.
  17. My daughter has this exact dress for her wedding next week and we can bustle it. They did a great job and it is gorgeous. We have to button up the under layer first and then the lace layer. We did have a layer of the netting taken out too. Makes it weigh less.
  18. They do not charge you to put your own chair sashes on? What about our colored napkins and table decorations? I was figuring that we would have to run around and do it ourselves. Thanks, the wedding is next week, so we are trying to finalize everything.
  19. We found our ties at Pennys (of all places) after looking "forever". Colors are fushia and orange, so the groom has a stiped fushia and the BM and father of the bride have orange striped, both the same pattern. PERFECT
