  1. Congrats Tricia, you look gorgeous! Your flowers are gorgeous as well. Can't wait for more details.
  2. Hi Ladies. I'm also a 2011 bride. We're confirmed for February 19,2011. I haven't done a whole lot but reserve a date so far. I did email a TA and waiting to hear back on rates, so not sure if I'll go through them or directly through MP yet. So far we plan to do the complimentary package and adding on as we see fit. It may change as we go along though. Glad to see other 2011 Moon Palace brides on here!

However, I really don't know where to start with booking. I e-mailed the wedding coordianators at the MP for info about the resorts, but am waiting to hear back still. We'd prefer to go through a travel agent to help arrange travel plans, but my FH was told by an agent that she couldn't help us this early since rates haven't been set for next year. I'm feeling a little bit overwhelmed and want to get started soon - I do special event planning for living and I'm very excited to start planning our wedding We'll probably have about 50 guests - HELP Thanks!! Yay another chicagoland and 2011 bride! Welcome to the forum! I also have recently joined and am also a 2011 bride. There is definitely a lot of great info on this site. Give them a day or two to get back to you. They have responded to me fairly quickly. They were able to give me rates for 2011, but what I received from them was only January to April group rates. So not sure if they have summer rates out yet. I had to wait awhile to get these rates as well. We got engaged in November and at that time they didn't have January/February 2011 rates yet. Then when I emailed them again they did and others had already been booking. It can definitely be very frustrating.

I think it will work out either way. Ashley When I read what everyone else has already done and how everything has all come together I feel like a bit of a slacker. I definitely need to start working on our wedding website, so that I can include it on our STD's. I emailed my TA today to see what rates he could get. I just want to decide on which way to go soon so that I can get STD's out soon. That way people can't complain that I didn't give them enough time.
  5. When you ladies sent out your STD's did you include contact info for your TA's and/or your wedding website with info for booking info? I feel like I should probably include this info somehow so that people know what to expect as far as pricing so as they can start saving.
  6. Congrats to the new Mrs. Moulten. You look gorgeous and it looks like you guys had a blast. Janelley100- thanks for the info. I was reading through previous posts and saw that you had some difficulties with a certain "certified destination wedding" TA. I also signed up for with this site. Since I was planning for 2011, they told me they couldn't get any pricing, etc for any resorts because it was too soon. Also the particular TA I was assigned to didn't have anything nice to say about MP. My future in-laws have been going there for years and love it though, so obviously we trust their judgement over some random TA we don't know. So anyway I have been in contact with MP directly in getting our wedding date and time reserved. I was thinking abnow out emailing this TA now to see what kind of rates he could get, but after reading what you've went through and the fact that he was not keen on MP to begin with was thinking about giong elsewhere or just directly through MP. Did you find that the TA found your guests better prices? That's kind of what it seems like through this site. Ashnic2005- I'm glad to hear that you are having no difficulties booking directly through MP. I'm just worried that my guests may need that guidance with booking that a TA can give. That way they could do flights through them as well. I'm so undecided. I guess I have time though to figure it out.
  7. Hi Ladies! I have just booked with moon palace for Feb 19 2011 after a couple of grueling months of back and forth with which resort to choose. There is definitely a ton of info on here about the moon palace which will take me forever to read through. I still haven't signed any kind of group contract as of yet and I have just been working with the Miami office wedding coordinators directly. Was wondering for you girls who have allready started this process, do you recommend going through a TA or directly through MP? It seems as though they don't honor group rates or the freebies unless you go through them, but was wondering if it would save my guests some $ if I went through a TA. Is it too late to go through a TA if I sign something with MP? Any direction would be greatly appreciated!
  8. Barefoot in the sand- How did the site visit go? Which part of the resort do you plan to get married at? I haven't run across the list of drinks, but that sounds like a fun idea! NorthernGirl- How exciting, only 2 weeks to go! Best wishes to you. The tequila bar sounds like a great idea!

At the Maya I think there are private reception options but you have to do your dinner first and then go somewhere else for the reception. We liked the Del Mar because you could do both at the same location for a fee of $800. If you are in love with the Maya resort you can still stay there and just get married on the Del Mar side of the resort. We are actually staying at the Lindo. This is also nice because if you get married at the Del Mar your guests can stay at any of the resorts without having to buy a guest pass for the day of the wedding (if that is a concern). All in all they are all AWESOME resorts and the wedding coordinators are great to work with! Good Luck with your planning! Thanks for the info! I didn't even realize the different sections of the resort offered different options for private receptions. I guess I just assumed they all had the same options. I'm going to look a little more into that. With all the snow now in Chicago, I wish I was in Mexico Now!

The complex is amazing, if you haven't already I highly recommend a site visit =) Good luck Thanks. I'm was thinking about doing a private reception as well, just looking into other options to save some $. Not really sure yet, that's why this site is great to get to hear what other people are doing as well. We are guestimating probably about 60 will come as well, but sometimes it's hard to really know.
  11. Hi all Iberostar brides! I'm new to this site, so still trying to figure out exactly how to find everything and where to post, etc. I just posted in another thread but then realized that one hadn't been active in awhile and then found this one. I guess I'll get the hang of it eventually! I'm planning on getting married in January or February of 2011 and I think I've settled on Iberostar Paraiso Maya. I've had some corespondance with them via email to get some info from them, but they don't seem to give you too many specifics. Looking forward to hearing what everyone has to say about this resort. What are you Paraiso Maya brides planning on doing in way of reception? I want some sort of private event, but don't know how I feel about the disco!

  13. Name: Michelle Wedding Date: January or February 2011 Location: Riviera Maya Hi all, I'm new to this site and looking for any advice/info on weddings at Iberostar Paraiso Maya. I'm 90% this is where I'm going to book, however it's difficult in communicating with these resorts as they are very vague as to sites of receptions, DJ costs etc. So any information others have for this resort would greatly be appreciated.
