  1. HI! We were married at GRP November 10th. We had 66 people, so I think we may be in a similar situation. Once your party is over 40 people, you must have the beach party, which by the way was absolutley amazing and worth every penny! I directly dealt with Sandra (the wedding coordinator) and found it much easier than dealing through a travel agent. I am unsure if you will be able to anything as a dinner reception with more than 40 people. May want to contact the WC yourself. They are very easy to deal with.... Good luck to you and congratulations! What is everyone else planning for thier recpetion? Does anyone else have/had a large group...if so what was/is your options you were given. My TA who deals directly with the WC at the resort has been....ummm....swamped as her partner has folded so now its all on her so.....my turn around time for questions is not very fast!!! So any suggestions, help etc I would greatly appreicate!!! Thanks!!

  6. 3 weeks today till our wedding!!!!! But we will be there in 12 days! Looking forward to seeing all you beautiful ladies!
  7. We are doing the beach party as we have 65 people and thought it would be easier than trying to get 65 people into Playa del Carmen at one time.... We were at this resort last April and we went to 4 ala cartes... they were all good... The Mexican was my favorite! Playa has GREAT restaurants.... Did you try getting in tough with a wedding co-ordinator (not the hotel) and seeing if they could lend a hand? Quote: Originally Posted by **TIFFANY** Amandseth and anyone getting married soon or been married there already, are you doing dinner at one of the ala cartes? Which one did you choose and what menu? FI and I decided on Las Olas and had the menu set perfectly and Patricia let me know today that the restaurant isn't available for the 6pm seating, we'd have to wait until the 9:30pm seating which is too late since we have my grandparents and stuff with us...So now we're back to square one trying to decide on a restaurant and the set menu for everyone. So I'm just trying to get an idea what anyone else had planned.
  8. Thank you so much for hooking us up with Jessica! I can't believe we are leaving in 12 days! wedding in 3 weeks today! Looking forward to seeing all the wedding those 2 weeks! In fact, after we'd booked her, I found yet another bride who will also be using the photgraphers services! Which is great, as it makes it more worth her while to come! We managed to get a killer deal... the photographer is very experienced, and interested in branching into the destination wedding market, so was willing to lower her price for the experience and portfolio material. Ask around, I'm sure you'll find a photographer willing to come just for the cost of the trip. And if you can hook up with another bride, you can offer a bit more, and still save!
  9. The Mexican (expecially the fajitas)was very good.... the Italian was also good. If we weren't doing th beach party, we totally would have chosen the Mexican. The Japanese is fun as long as you get on the "show" side. I am not sure they would let you take that over for a night... Good Luck in your choice!
  10. We ordered personlized travel mugs ( not as expensive as it sounds maybe $2.50per mugs) They have a little picture of a palm tree, our names and our wedding date. This way everyone knows who is with our party. We are handing them out at the airport....
  11. I would just keep pushing, that seems to have worked for me. I would say stuff, like this is a deal breaker for us if we can't have it our way. We have 63 people coming to our wedding, and decided that the beach party was the BEST way to go for us, more privacy etc. We have also stayed here before and all the restaurants are closed in and not open air. We decided to do the beach party as it's a once in a life time thing and a little debt never hurt anyone... Good luck to you!
