A lot of people have done the Real Touch flowers, hoever getting them is an experience in itself.  Three of my gf's bought them for their weddings and all three girls had issues getting them to their weddings.  Most times, the bouquet came apart and they couldnt get back to how they wanted it.  And two of them brought it on their carry-on to portect it.  I am not going that route, I will either be getting mine from Sandos as they are beautiful flowers or will get simpy silk as they travel so much better.

WOW!  I can't beleive some of you already have your weddings booked.  My resort wont allow us to book or even put down a deposit unless we have our deposit paid to the travel agent within two months of requesting our date.  So basically I think we can't even put a deposit down until May 2011. 
I wish we could do that.

Hey Ladies,

I've been gone for a couple of months and not only do I have a lot of catching up to do, but now I have to figure out how to navigate this forum all over again.  When did this change happen.....haha!

 

Anyways, just wondering how far in advance did you send out your invites?  Our wedding is Jan 2012 and we sent out our STD's this past July to give everyone a full year to save, bc July 2011 is when our deposits need to be placed.  So now I am trying to figure out when the actual invites should go out.  May 2011?? 

 

Any input would be appreciated!  Thanks!

We got engaged at the 2.5 yr mark and it will be just over 4 years when we get engaged. But we bought a house together at the one year mark so I guess thats when it really started to make things official for us.

Great thread topic - I hope to hear some ideas as I too am now wondering what to do.

Not to hyjack your thread or anything, but I too wonder what can be done. My FMIL is planning a pre-wedding AHR back in Ontario (FI hometown) for all the people that cant come to the wedding. We live in ALberta, so its not like they could come to our AHR either. So I am also stuck as to what we should be giving them...especially bc its even before the wedding....lol

Bring on the ideas ladies...we need some creative help!

Thanks for our posting that - what a great idea! I will definitely be looking into that. I will just have to figure out what to do with the 3 kiddies that are at the resort with their parents bc I am assuming that they wont be able to go. Did you wear your dress to it or did you change first??

I think the idea of meeting once a month is a fantastic idea! Im sorry I missed the last one, but it was my son's last soccer game and I had to be there. I am going to be away on vacation when the one in July comes, but I will make sure I am available for the one in August. It would be nice to put a face to a name finally. LOL

I got a free wedding pkg and samples in the mail from Vistaprint as they had an option to request one and the samples they sent me were fantastic! They were on good quality paper and they looked very nice. If I hadnt already purchased mine, I may have gone that route....I still may go that route actually....bc I can return mine.

They are nice and at a great price....so why not!?

I should be able to get the time to get down there as well for 6pm. Just let us know what name its under and we will see you all there!

Oh my gosh - not a good week for you for sure. Im sure the bags will be great so dont stress about that at all. Discount mugs - hmph! That totally sucks - well do they have anything else you like that they can have ready for you in time?? And as for the photographer. what the heck is that all about? Did they double book you or something? Have you contacted any of the photographers in Mexico - Claudia rodriguez had a pretty good package when we were looking into it. Maybe that is an option for you

As for Thursday, I would offer to come and get you, however I am coming from Didsbury. We can always meet somewhere on the outskirts and I can drive you in if you are nervous about driving in Calgary. I have lived here for 13 years so I know my way around really well. I would be more then happy to do that if you like? Let me know! Hope you can come to....

I figured out the hard way at my first wedding - so Im not going downt hat road again. Plus I can get better deals by starting this early.

Congrats on getting your bags - you will have to post pics of them for us! Oh and a pic of your mugs too....can't wait.....

That is completely up to you my dear. I have heard of brides spending only $15.00 per bag to over $50.00 per bag.
I myself have spent approx $30.00 per bag but that is bc Im only doing 20 bags. It doesnt look like a lot but when you start adding everything up - well it gets out of hand.

My bags have: The bag, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, body butter, bandaids, first aid kit, chapstick, advil, breath strips, pepto bismal, deck of cards, welcome book, pens, notepads, kleenex, key card holder and lanyard, 2 travel mugs, postcards, pashminas, tag body spray, star fish wine stopper, and not to forget all the beach kit bags I made up that hold all the little items, and the tags for the OOT bags, pashminas, stickers for my mugs. So it really does add up quickly.

In hindsight, I should have set a limit before I started, but I am happy with what is in my bags and how they turned out.

Im really happy to hear that your session went well and you both were able to communicate what you needed. I think you have exactly the right idea - you want to be happy....that is what we all want and need....so make sure you keep that in the back of your mind always. You need to be happy - you need to come first in that aspect, then worry about others. If you are not happy, the people around you wont be happy either. That much you need to do for yourself.

Im so sorry to hear this - I remember you talking on a thread about not having an Ering just yet bc of this situation, and Im sorry it has escalated to this. I can imagine how upset you may be but I agree that it may be best to put off your wedding. I know that is hard to hear and sounds impossible to do bc you want it so badly, but I can say from experience, I should have done that the first time around. I ended up getting divorced bc we didnt hold off on the wedding for different reasons, but similar in a way. I wasted all that money, time and put my family though hell bc I wanted my wedding. If I had only waited I probably would have called it off in the end. NOw Im not saying that is what is going to happen to you, but like I said in the last thread for you.....he needs time. He needs to get a job and then he will be able to think about a wedding. If he is contemplating suicide, this is the last thing that should be on your mind bc it is definitely not on his. He is sick right now and needs to get to a better place, and getting married is not going to make it better- it may just add to things for him. MOre pressure now that he is your husband to provide for you. THats the last thing he needs right now is pressure from what you have told us.

I know you dont want to postpone the wedding, but it sounds like the best thing to do under the circumstances. When you look back at where you are right now vs when you get married when things are better -you will be so much happier you waited. I promise!

So I worked on my key card holders this weekend and made about 32 more then I needed. So if any of you are getting married in Mexico in Jan 2012, and havent made yours yet - let me know and I will mail these off to you.

I printed them on a sand colour card stock I think they look really cute.

If your interested, email me and I will send them off to you. I can also send you my template and you can run off some more if you need it.

 

Here is a pic of them not in the key tag holder yet just so you have an idea....the pic is a little fuzzy, but the writing says " I take you to carry my key and tip money, for poolside or barstool, for soused or sober, in heat and humidty until I depart" Oh and the writing is in a bluey/turquiose colur I guess.
