hdismor...I am getting married at 12pm. We went with the Pure Paradise package. What are you going to do between the wedding and the receptions? We only have about 12 people coming with us so I am not doing a private reception. We are booking a table at the Beach BBQ that night, but I'm not sure what to do with the guests between then? Any suggestions??

Yes they are an american company. You can go to Destinationweddings.com for more info. I really like them. I think I'm going to have my ceremony at the gazebo. I really liked that its up on a cliff over looking the water. I don't want a beach wedding. Unfortunately I booked my wedding very late and we only had the choice of a 12pm wedding so its going to be very hot!! If the gazebos not available we'll do the spa. That looks beautiful too!

I chose the Island Pearl package. I went back and forth with them but in the end it came down to the pink lillies in the Island Pearl. I love lillies and feel they would be beautiful for a tropical wedding. I booked my wedding date through the resort but am booking my room and all my guests rooms through Destination Weddings. I know there are some mixed reviews about them but my travel agent is amazing!!! Im glad the resort got back to you. Good luck with everything! Keep us posted

Congratulations! I just booked my wedding there for November 4, 2011. My WC Nakeisha has been very helpful and responsive. There were some times where it took her several days to respond back so don't worry. They will get back to you. I don't know too much as I am still in the planning stages as well. From what Nakeisha told me, most packages are for 8 people or less. Anymore than that is $20 pp. I believe she quoted me $20pp for my cocktail hour which does include alcohol...not too sure about price, may have been $15pp. Receptions are not included in the wedding packages. You can have a private reception at one of two restaurants for $45pp or you can reserve a semi-private reception at any restaurant. This would be included in the All-inclusive package. She said if I was having more than 20 people to consider a reception as they may not be able to seat the entire party together for a semi-private reception. From what I've read from other brides I believe you can have outside vendors but you may have to pay a price. I'm not too sure of when you pick flowers and cake. Hope this helps a little. Long story short, my FI and I canceled our wedding here in NJ because we were miserable and booked a destination wedding instead. Seeing as it only gives guest 7 months to save, we may not have many there. We're fine with this tho!! Im looking to purchase online as well. I just feel like theres more variety of dresses online than in stores. I am looking for a short wedding dress and I haven't found it yet. I've seen some online but I'm afraid that if I buy it, it wont fit or I wont like it.

I think it could work. I was also thinking the same thing. I was going to keep it tropical, orange or pink as well, and just tell the girls to pick whatever they want. I'm probably going to give them a swatch so they can match it, but whatever they choose is fine.

I am getting married there in November...well i hope I have been working with WC Nekeisha Reed and she has been great at answering all my emails. She placed a hold on my date a week ago and informed that they only place a hold for two weeks. I sent her my signed contract and deposit form on Tuesday and I haven't heard from her... I'm freaking out because I'm afraid I'm going to lose that date! I guess I'll call on Monday and see if you she received it. Anyone else run into this problem? Is this normal for it to take a while to get a confirmation on the wedding date??

Thanks everyone.. Kristibear - Happy wedding day to us!! we did take a hit on canceling but we are totally okay with this. We feel this is about our happiness and not money...well, I should say, even tho I lost money by canceling, I'm saving money by having this destination wedding. But its about our happiness. I just got done with our wedding website and will be sending save the dates this weekend. I am so excited and so happy about this! Its such a relief. I was so unhappy planning a wedding in NJ. I cannot wait!!

Hi ladies! I am getting married November 4, 2011 at Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort in Montego Bay. I just booked this last week!!! I have nothing prepared. My FI and I got engaged two years ago and we wanted to do a destination wedding but my mother get very upset and begged us to have the "traditional" wedding here. So we went with that but have been unhappy ever since. Now that the wedding is getting so close we finally put our foot down and said enough is enough. This is our wedding and since we are paying for it we want to do it our way. So I canceled the venue here in NJ and booked Jamaica. I cant wait!! I was miserable planning this wedding here and now I am so excited about Jamaica. I dont know how many people we are going to have. I have 4 friends who are definite but not sure about family. Seeing how its late notice I'm not sure people will be able to afford it. My mother is very upset with us so I wouldn't be surprised if she refused to come. My FI and I are completely fine with just having an intimate wedding with the two of us. We never wanted a big wedding to begin with and we are only invited 26 people to the destination wedding. I still don't have a wedding dress yet and I am just starting to do my STDs. Question, do I have to send out invitations as well? or can STDs be fine?? Thanks everyone!!!

Hi everyone. Thanks for all the great information. I have always wanted a destination wedding and when I got engage two years ago we started planning one. However, my mother through a fit and I of course gave in and decided to have the traditional wedding here in NJ. Well, now that I'm 8 months away from my wedding, my FI and I have decided to cancel our "traditional" wedding here and are doing our dream wedding in Jamaica. We are paying for our wedding and feel that it should be about our wants and not anyone elses. My mothers not speaking to me, but thats a whole other story I'm not going to get into here...So, booked my wedding at GPJ on 11/4/11. Our original wedding date was 11/11/11 but seeing as we're booking so late we cant get that. The only availabe times they had on 11/4/11 were 10am and 12pm. We booked the 12pm. Does anyone have any experience with an afternoon wedding?? Besides it being unbearably hot, will it be weird to have a cocktail hour afterwards at 1??? And then the reception to follow? I just feel like it will be a lunch reception. I guess we can always go out to the disco afterwards...any thoughts?? thanks so much!!

I live in Point Pleasant and was thinking of using TravelSmiths. Are they helping you with planning the wedding as well or just booking the trip?
