As echo2_62 said, you will be billed when your order is delivered by UPS and they may not release the package until you pay. The charges are for both duty (by the government) and then brokerage (by UPS). UPS ground shipping is known for these fees so avoid UPS when you can. As I said earlier, I tried to get discountmugs to ship USPS but they only use UPS but I guess-timated the brokerage and it was still cheaper than other options in Canada.

I will edit my post. I did call discountmugs to see if they would ship with USPS instead (only about $5 brokerage) but they only use UPS.
  5. So we're back to the cold and married!! The wedding day and week was amazing. The wedding coordinators (Yoanka and Junior) were great to work with. Fire away if you have any questions.

We ordered 150 shot glasses from discountmugs in December for our wedding a couple of weeks ago. Customs (duty) should not be that much, what does cost a lot is the brokerage that UPS charges. If you choose the group shipping option, you will be hit with brokerage. We anticipated the cost and even with those extra charges it was cheaper than any option from Canada. The shot glasses are amazing and everyone loves them. I don't have the bill in front of me that we paid when we picked up our order from UPS but will post when I have the actual amount.
  8. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to buy shoes in the Ottawa-Gatineau area? I am looking for dressy white flip flops and can't find them anywhere at this time of year. Thank You.

So far they have just told me that I will meet the coordinator at the resort and discuss all the options. I'm a little nervous because I get there on Sunday and the wedding's Tuesday We have received the same info, that everything will be planned when we arrive. the only thing they wanted to know in advance was the number of people that were attending the wedding so that they can be prepared for the meal. We will be flying out that Sunday when you arrive. Too bad as we could have filled you in on what to expect.
  11. We're actually getting married there on January 20th. It's been difficult finding info from other peoples weddings at the Daiquiri but so far our dealings with the resort have gone well.
  12. Thanks for your help. Just to confirm, nothing has to be translated, notarized, legalized (not even our passport)
  13. Hi all, Has any of this information changed regarding documentation required? We have been getting different information from various sources and have not heard back from the Cuban Embassy. We are both Canadian citizens and neither has been married before. Can anyone help us out?
