  1. I worked with our Dreams Los Cabos WC, Mariana, to purchase and manage our flowers (bouquets and boutonnieres). She got us an excellent price through their floral vendor. During my search, I found that the prices she was able to quote us were much cheaper than the quotes I was given my contacting the vendors directly myself. The flowers were gorgeous too! I know that the Dreams website has some sample photos of the flowers they provide--but it really doesn't do them justice. Just to give you an example of my cost savings: I paid $100 for a large bridal bouquet with white roses, white hydrangeas, and white orchids. The bouquet was wrapped at the stem with a thick white satin ribbon and pearl tipped pins. I also bought some silver rhinestone pins to stick in the actual bouquet (bought them for less that $5 at Michael's).
  2. Our wedding at Dreams Los Cabos was on Friday, November 27th. Our wedding group was small (19 people total). We held our reheasal dinner the day before (Thanksgiving). We wanted to do something really special for our guests since a lot of them would be meeting for the first time and because we knew about the expenses they had to incur to attend the wedding. So we held a private "reheasal lunch" at Portofino's (before it opened for dinner) and had the entire restaurant to ourselves. They set up a beautiful italian buffet in the back patio of the restaurant with white linens/red overlays and white chair covers with red sashes. We also had a private bar area/bartender. We paid $20/pp.
  3. This is just my opinion...but stay away from the house red and white wine at Dreams unless you are itching to have a hangover the next morning. I'm not a wine enthusiast either...but it was nasty. I think your best bet would be to pay and upgrade for the better quality wines on their menu (which I did hear from our wine enthusiasts was decent) or skip the wine altogether and enjoy the mixed drinks (which I highly recommend!)
  4. Have you considered November? I just got married here in Cabo on 11-27. The weather in November here is absolutely perfect. It's still warm during the day...but not as overwhelmingly hot as it was when we did out site visit in July. It was uncomfortable to even go outside back in July...even with a bathing suit and flip flops. We did our ceremony at 4:30 pm...my make-up held up and my hair stayed in tact...no sweating in the heavy wedding gown either. We had a small group of 20 guests (because of the holiday)--but well worth it as far as keeping within budget. Maybe you can take advantage of the long weekend? Every school is different...my mom is a teacher and they get the whole week of Thanksgiving off.
  5. El Patio: Their breakfast is the best, especially the omelet bar. Seaside Grill: They have the best steaks...ribeye and arrechera (flank steak). The flank steak was so good that we included it as one of our menu options. Oceana Terrace: Mahi Mahi and the ceviche with chips. Himitsu: Sushi and the vegetable tempura combo. Miso soup was also good. Portofino's: Spinach ravioli with marinara, fetuccini with shrimp
  6. When you used Suzanne Morel, did she require the balance for the services to be paid 10 days prior to the event date? She had that stated in her contract and I thought that was a little odd since every other vendor wants the balance due when they arrive on our wedding date. I have already paid Suzanne the initial deposit and will be sending in another payment for the hair/make-up trial beforehand as well....I was just wondering why the balance needs to be paid prior to the event date.
  7. Hi there, I received the same quote...29/pp for cocktail hour and 29/pp for the reception. We went with the $700 basic package and just added on from there. I was told it would be the cheapest way to do it. We will be having the reception in a private sectioned off area at Oceana Terrace. I was told this was the only way to have the reception be semi-private.
  8. My fiance and I are doing the same thing. It just seemed like too much red tape to have a legal wedding in Mexico. We are going to have it done legally in Los Angeles before heading to Cabo.
  9. Hi Cabo Brides, Has anyone been to the Costco in Los Cabos? Is it comparable to the ones in the states? I was just curious to see if anyone has utilized it to get last minute items, decor, etc. Thank you, Brianne
  10. That's wonderful. If you bring an out of town photographer to Cabo, does it increase the expense of the photography? Or do the photographers pay for flight and hotel? I'm trying to compare to see whether or not there would be a huge different in cost with using someone from out of town verses using some local. Thank you!
  11. Hi there, I read from an older post here about MexSun Day & Spa and remembered that they are in San Jose del Cabo and can come onsite to do hair and make-up. I also found information for Blanc Salon (Neysa Berman) and Rocher Salon (located at the Terroso Resort). I sent emails to them to request pictures of actual work done on brides and to get the pricing for the consultations for makeup/hair in addition to the fees charged for the day of prep. I'll share this with you once I hear back!
  12. Hi Krebsler, Thank you so much for the feedback...and the advice on taking pictures of the food and keeping a log on what I liked. I will definitely do this when I go next week! Brianne
  13. Hello Cabo Brides! My fiance and I are doing our site visit next week (7/21-7/23) at Dreams Los Cabos. I'm getting some push back from the family as they are skeptical about the food at Dreams based on some reviews they read. I was wondering if I could get some candid feedback about the food at Dreams. I personally don't care--I'm more about the actual celebration. However, I would love to get anyone else's feedback. Thank you so much!
  14. Hi There! I'm Brianne and my fiance and I are planning a Cabo wedding this November (!) either on the 27th or 28th (right after Thanksgiving). We're most likely going to be having the ceremony and reception at Dreams because of the tremendous amount of reviews. I've been working with Maye for wedding coordination and we are actually travelling down to Cabo next week (7/21-7/23) to do the site inspection and hopefully meet with a few other vendors. My fiance and I live in Los Angeles. We're expecting about 50 guests at the most since it's during the holiday season.
  15. Hello! I'm new to the forum and I've learned so much already from browsing the site! We're planning a destination wedding in Cabo this November (yup, and it's already June and yup, we just started)--so it's a little crazy. It's going to be on Saturday, 11-28-09. We've narrowed down our choices to both Dreams and The Westin. I'm leaning towards Dreams just because their package seems to include more and I like the idea of all-inclusive. I wanted to find out if I could get some thoughts as to which one would be better. We want an elegant yet relaxed affair...get married on the beach followed by a nice oceanfront reception with plenty of food and drinks...so bar package is important too! We really need to get down there and do a site visit...hopefully the beginning of July.
