  1. Would you suggest calling ahead to places to see if you can purchase samples...or just go and wing it??
  2. I take mine off when I shower and put lotion on my hands, but not much other than that. Sometimes when doing the dishes or doing something rough and tough, but not often!
  3. I hope I fall in love with one right away so I won't have to doubt my decision! Still haven't gone dress shopping since a few months back...eventually! We're even still thinking of a December wedding, so I better get moving eh? Any suggestions on where to find a dress off the rack?
  4. Update for everyone...we still haven't started planning our wedding (yes, we are procrastinators!! and really busy at work ) but we changed our minds and decided we might just go elope the two of us, or with a set of friends/family to be the witnesses. Or who knows, we could end up doing something completely different!

  6. I still have to narrow down my choices...but I can't wait to find out prices. I noticed Air Canada Vacations has pricing up for December 2010 and they're not bad!
  7. Welcome...I hope you find your dream location! I'm with the others when they say check out Mayan Riviera...there are some absolutely gorgeous resorts there.
  8. Congrats and welcome...you sound like me! Engaged almost 11 months and not a thing confirmed...
  9. We still haven't decided if we are going to elope just the two of us or not...we keep weighing the pros and cons and we're leaning more towards the private one. Most people think of weddings as being a big party and celebration with close family and friends, but I see mine as being romantic and intimate, and no one else can share that with you. If you look at it that way, maybe you will feel better about it?
  10. Thanks for the tips ladies! Has anyone gone dress shopping on their own? I went alone the first time, FI and I are seriously considering eloping and I want to keep it a secret from others until we return. Did you find you had a lot of opinions from others that helped you make the best decision?
  11. Congrats and welcome! I'm hoping to be a December bride as well! I hope you can find a steal of a deal
  12. I think I'm going to have to try Novelle Bridal! Has anyone found that a particular place is cheaper than others?
  13. Thanks! I went today and definitely could not make a decision...there are too many to choose from! I narrowed it down to three, and I think I'm going to try Bridal House and the Sherwood Park Bridal Debut before I make a final decision...and of course with a different selection, I will no doubt want others as well! What dress did you pick?
  14. So I went shopping today...my favourites were all Maggie's: Shirley (without the cap sleeves), Cassia (again without the cap sleeves) and Melanie...it's going to be tough to decide!! All very different but so very beautiful.
  15. Wow, I have been browsing this whole thread for what seems like hours this morning! And I didn't see one of my fave dresses on here yet...has anyone tried on/seen in person the Ashanti dress? It looks absolutely beautiful...I still have to call around to see if any stores around here carry it, but right now it's my inspiration Not a huge fan of the bow, but I'm sure that can be changed. I'm hoping to try on some Maggie dresses tomorrow if they have appts available still. Ashanti - by Maggie Sottero
  16. I'm thinking a combo of Couples Swept Away and the Caves! Still need to touch base with a TA though because it may be very unrealistic when I hear the cost
  17. So I am really curious to find out the outcome of this! Was it the wrong dress??
  18. I've heard that Bridal Debut is good, I was thinking of starting at the South Edmonton location and go from there...I'm in love with Maggie Sottero dresses and I'm pretty sure they carry a few of the ones I've been eyeing!
  19. I'm from Edmonton as well, but we're just starting to really plan our wedding and I haven't gone dress shopping once. We just decided (or have discussed and agreed) that we are likely going to elope so I'm struggling with the dress situation. If I invite friends, family to help me shop, they're going to find out that the planning has started and we want to keep it a secret Where did you get yours?
  20. I live in Edmonton but work just outside Fort Mac! But we still haven't decided on a date or location...we're slow planners
  21. If we go ahead with the eloping versus medium sized wedding idea, I don't think I'm going to do anything extra. FI suggested helping pay for another couple to come with us, or something along those lines and if that's the case, we don't need to add anything else in. Depending on the size of the group (and the punctuality of those guests that are coming!) it might be a good idea to do programs and stuff just as a thank-you for making the trip...and it will ensure that everyone knows where to go and when.
  22. I think I prefer #1, but I agree with the others, it all depends until you try it on!
  23. Wow you guys have moved very quickly, good job! Were you looking into your options before you got engaged? I have done sooo much research already and still am not even close to making a decision about where and when to have it. I think FI and I have become more excited now that we're talking about just the two of us going, so I think that's the right decision. Although I want to keep it a secret and now I feel kind of bad everytime someone asks if we have progressed with the planning and I just keep saying we still haven't decided...has anyone else dealt with that? Any suggestions on how to keep it a secret until we return?
