  1. Hey Ladies, I am so bad for keeping up to date on here. I can't believe how close it is now. I am feeling the stress; there is so much to do still. Anyway, I'm sure we all feel that way. I have a question. I have read that some of you have booked your hair appointments online. I went on there to book myself and three of my bridesmaids and it was going to cost $137US per person. Is this not ridiculous? It also says you have to pay right now. Does anybody know if there is another way to go about it, such as booking without paying right now or waiting until we get there? It seems absolutely crazy to spend $600 on getting your hair done up. Other posts I read in the past mentioned the hair would cost around $80-100. If you have any info on this, it would be muchly appreciated. Thanks
  2. Hey everyone, I am having a horrible time with this website. Whenever I try to sign in it says I am viewing as a guest and I have figured out a round about way to be signed on, but it changes by the page I am viewing. It's weird. Anyway, I hope everyone is enjoying there planning. I am starting to feel the stress of it. We are just trying to figure out the all-inclusive packages. So far they seem a bit pricey but I don't want to wait to long and not be able to get booked. Is everyone all booked already? What resorts are you staying at? It seems like the Bavaro is the most popular and expensive resort but I don't know, I think they will all be great. Shankd, that is cool we are getting married the same day. I requested around 3:30 or 4pm for the ceremony. Are you getting married on the beach or in the gazebo? I haven't fully decided yet. If anyone has the menus, would you mind emailing them to me at trinakienzle@hotmail.com Sperger, thanks for the recommendation for HDC photo. I booked with them and I am super excited. His work looks great and he is so nice. In response to the private reception. I considered this but I think it is too pricey. It sounds like the restaurants are set up nice and going to the disco after will be fun. Well I look forward to hearing back from you ladies. If any of you are from western Canada I would be interested in hearing what you AI package prices worked out to be. It's hard planning for 40-50 people. Oh, and if anyone feels like sharing, I'm curious about what kind of wedding sandals you are wearing and if where you bought them. I suppose the beginning of fall is not the best time to start looking but it will work out either way. Trina
  3. Hey DW brides, I have been having problems with my log in on this website so i haven't been keeping up to date much. Thanks Seaprincess, your pics are great and awesome for putting everything into perspective. What photographer did you use? I have tried contacting photsouvenir and Michael weiler but they are both booked. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks Nonnie for sending me the pics from the hotel photographer. I am not sure if I want to go with them, but it may be my only option. Do we need to book the hotel photographer in advance as well? So, I was planning on having the wedding in the gazebo, but I am thinking about the beach now. The pics are so pretty on the beach. Does anyone know what the new gazebo is like? Any pics of it? Hmm, music. I haven't even thought that far. I am so glad to have this forum because it gets me thinking about things. I just finished my teaching certificate last week and have been in school full-time for the last year so now I can start focusing on the wedding. Military Mrs. To Be, I am sorry to hear everything is changing on you. It will all work out I am sure. I am so relieved I have a date booked now that you say April is all booked up. Stay positive, it sounds like Carolina knows what she's doing.
  4. We decided on the gazebo, but there will be between 40-50 people so I hope they will all fit. I will have to ask Carolina about that. She told me that on the beach you get a lot of people looking. It was a hard decision, but I think both will be beautiful.
  5. Hey ladies, I know what you mean about the loose planning. I think a person needs to be really flexible if getting married in the DR. I got my date back and confirmed for April 20, 2010. So we will all be there around the same time. I think we will be going April 15 -22. I didn't have to put a deposit or anything, Carolina said she would be in touch with me closer to the date. This worries me a little because I don't feel like it is secure, but I just have to trust it will work out. I asked to have the ceremony later in the day and we are renting out the disco for after dinner. We were going to have a symbolic ceremony but Carolina told me that legal ceremonies get priority, so we decided to do a legal one. Is anybody else doing legal? Does anybody know if you have to use the GP photographer and if not what the procedure is to get a different one. I read that some people used photosouvenir and they looked really good. Any insight would be great? I am so relieved to have my date. Where is everyone getting married, beach or gazebo?
  6. Hi Stephanie, I noticed you are getting married at GP in April 2010. I am just in the process of securing a date for April 2010. I will likely be there at the time you get married but we are looking at the following week. I wanted to ask you a few questions. I see your wedding date is on a Saturday, so that must mean that saturday's and sunday's are options for weddings? I was originally going to get married in Mayan Riviera and they do not have weddings on the weekends. Also, do you know what the costs are for a private reception? Are you getting married on the beach or at the gazebo? Anyway, I am really excited to see someone else on here that is planning there wedding around the same time. There does not seem to be that many brides for GP DR on here. The Mayan is flowing with info and brides, but I am really happy to have chosen DR now. If you have any info that would be great. Thanks Trina
  7. Hey Ladies, Thanks for all of your help in answering my questions. Unfortunately it sounds like we are leaning towards either the Riu Yucatan or the Iberostar Tucan because they are cheaper all inclusive packages. I am a bit bummed about this but with the economy the way it is right now I don't think people will be able to afford to go to the RPRM. The prices came out last week and leaving from Vancouver, BC it was around $2400 for one week. Does this seem high? Do you think it will go down? Lisa, I am curious what your prices were being that you were flying from western Canada as well? If anyone cares to share their prices that would be much appreciated. Thanks again
  8. Hi Iberostar Brides, I have been doing research for our DW in April 2010 and have narrowed it down to the RIU Yucatan and the Iberostar Tucan. Anybody have any insight between these two? The RIU has awesome wedding packages but the Iberostar rates better on Tripadvisor. One of my concerns is the photographer at the Iberostar. I have read mixed reviews about them. If you have any info that would be great! I hope all of you are enjoying you planning. It is a lot of work. Anyway, I look forward to sharing info. Thanks Trina
  9. Hey everyone, Thanks so much for the welcomes and information. I feel so much better about the sandbags now. My mom was telling me I should consider how they will look, but I am really not that picky and the fact that they kind of blend works for me. As for the BD pics, I am so glad I learned of this. I definitely want to do it because I don't think I will ever have another reason too. Also, before we know it we will have kids and get old and I am not sure I will want to do it then, haha. Desiree – thanks for the info about having the wedding on the beach. I am definitely going to consider having it at the gazebo. I know you said you are not going to bring the bose anymore, but I’m wondering if we are able to have music and dance at the semi-private reception? I cannot believe how close your wedding is; I can’t wait to hear about it. Also, your dress is stunning. Josie – thanks for attaching the links to the BD pics. It makes more sense now. I am glad to hear that you agree the prices at the RPRM are good because my mom told me to keep looking around because the all inclusive to there are a lot more expensive than other places. I looked at prices for this year and it doesn’t seem that way. Either way, I am very excited about the RPRM and being on this forum confirms everything. Amy – Thanks for the information and congratulations on your recent engagement. I am just curious, what are your reasons for choosing the Iberostar? That was one of the places we looked at, but the packages at the RIU seem to be the best for large weddings. Katie – I am so excited to hear you recently got the rates for March. That should mean they are coming soon for April. Chloe – Thanks to you too for the information about the beach. It seems like most people are getting married in the gazebo. It is very beautiful. Do you know if you see the ocean in the background? Does anybody know how to attach a wedding countdown? Also, does anyone happen to know if we can do a private reception and not rent the DJ? If so how much it would cost? One more question, sorry to be a pain. Does anyone know if the RIU is more expensive as an all inclusive, compared to other places that are of similar star rating? Thanks again.
  10. Hey RPRM Brides, I have spent hours on here reading the posts from the beginning to the end. It feels great to get so much information in one place. Anyway, my FI and I are planning to get married in April 2010. We were originally looking at the Grand Pallaium, but are now planning for the RPRM. The Palladium prices for the ceremony and reception seemed really high. Mostly because we anticipate between 45-60 people. I have a few questions though? Is anybody concerned about the sandbags on the beach? Are they directly in front of the hotel or on the sides? Also, does anybody know how long you get at the restaurants for the semi-private receptions? I read that some people are bringing there own music but that these places do not allow music, which is correct? Is anybody getting married on the beach? Well, even though I am just introducing myself now, I feel like I know so much about all of you after reading every single post. I think all of your bridesmaids dresses are beautiful. I know it can be a pain, I just went out and bought them because I live 3-8 hours away from my BM. They seem to like them and they were $40. Some of you are getting married really soon here. I look forward to hearing how everything goes, likes and dislikes. I am just starting to plan now and it seems like there is already a lot booked for next April. My TA said the prices don't come out until July so I wasn't rushing. I suppose you can reserve your dates before booking though, right? I look forward to hearing back from you guys. Oh, and I have never heard of BD photos. Are the nude? Thanks Trina
  11. Hi, I have signed up with weddingwindow.com and it is nice and user friendly. The only thing is it costs money, so I think mywedding.com would be just as good and it is free.
  12. Hey Everyone, I am really excited to join this forum; there is so much good information on here. I am getting married in the Mayan Riviera in April 2010. We are planning to stay at the Grand Palladium. Anyway, I really look forward to learning lots and getting advice from others. Thanks Trina
