  1. All of this can really be overwhelming! We booked June 09 for our Feb 2010 wedding, we got a double quote - one from April and one from June, no change from either. We're with Sunquest (RIUs again), though they're running through Air Tansat....so something is bound to happen! Our price is high, but part of that is we are going in Feb and are at the RPTB. Our family is our required 10 for our group, so I flat out asked the TA why anyone else should book with the group or wait for a sale. I thought she was pretty honest, she said all the stuff that she does for the group - and she's good, so I shouldn't be having some of the issues described above (hopefully!), but she did inform me that right now Jamaica is the #1 selling spot in the Caribbean...and flights sell out. She said Punta Cana and Mexico are great places to wait for sales, but the same doesn't usually hold true for Jamaica. The only thing that worries me, is that she put a due date for deposits for Oct31...which seems a little late, I hope my guests don't wait until then and then have problems with flights! Hopefully things work out for everybody! I was really hoping WestJet would add Jamaica....
  2. Good to know....I was feeling like maybe I was missing something! Where are you getting your flowers from? Are you bringing your own or getting additional ones from outside the resort? How has the WC been so far? I haven't really contacted her about anything yet - but it's always nice to know what you're walking in to!
  3. Email the resort directly, they will share this info with you. Also, I know it's not always easy to find....but there is lots of info & pics on this site regarding the info you are looking for. So far I've been quoted $55 US pp for a private reception...ROR offers a really nice poolside reception too, but all the resorts offer different things. Goodluck!
  4. Wow, you're really on the ball getting things organized! So, I'm also getting married there in February 2010.......I really haven't done too much with the resort yet - this might sound dumb, but is there stuff I should be doing now? I have photography booked, a confirmed wedding time/location, and have said that I would like a private reception. From most of what I've heard, it's suggested to leave stuff until closer to the date....but you seem to have lots going on already! Any suggestions would help, thanks!
  5. YAY - FINALLY picked a resort!!!!!!!! This has been the only stressful part of this process so far, but it's come to an end! RPTB it is!!!!! It won't be cheap, but I think it's what I want, and I have my tight group of 10 going, so everyone after that is really a bonus. Ladies, thanks so much for the comments, it really did help.
  6. From what I understand......the rates quoted now are the most you would pay, if they go lower then you can pay the $100 cancellation fee and rebook - something like that. I know that's what is was for Signature, can't remember the details for Sunquest. What pisses me off, is that for some of the hotels you get nothing! We were between the RIU Club Negril & the RIU Palace Tropical Bay (more money), and in the end we went with RPTB - but none of the Sunquest deals go with it?! Go figure, I'm spending more money and there are less incentives!!! The Club Negril would have been every 22 adults........I hope only 21 book! LOL Then I won't feel like we missed out! I would really search for TAs, we get an $800 luggage set, wedding inserts (invites), luggage tags, and Thank Yous.
  7. I think I'm going to use the advice my girlfriend gave me, she only sent out the invites to people that were actually booked and coming. The rest of the info she had on her website, that way she wasn't limited to what she had printed. Save the dates have enough info, plus a website, that way you are not wasting $$$ or feel like you are hastling people either. IF the flight is filling up and people might be taking different ones or alternate dates, indicate on your website and have to TA indicate that your wedding might be moved to any of those 3 dates.
  8. Thanks so much, that is really cool. Now just wondering about bugs....lots of reviews on TripAdvisor have things about bugs....so not too sure how to take that.
  9. So, there may be a better place to search for this, but I thought why not ask people that have been there before? So, what temps can we expect for February in Negril? Highs/lows, showers, rain, etc.? And I keep hearing things on Trip Advisor about sandflies and other biting creatures...is this true, or blown out of proportion? Kind of important if one is considering a beach reception.... Thanks!
  10. Lana -- nice to see someone from as close as Edmonton, I'm actually just about a couple hours northwest! So, are you using Uniglobe Travel by chance? I am, and they strongly recommended RIUs, no matter where. I have two dates held right now, on at the Club Hotel and one at RPTB....kinda cheated and used my parents info to hold a spot. Thing is, I'm having a really hard time deciding between the two...and I have to decide in two days, that's the deadline I set for myself!!! Maybe you can help me, I love the Club Hotel for it's better pricing and kids rates, plus Sunquest offers deals too.....but I really worry that we will get there and wish we would have spend the extra $$$ to stay at the RPTB. Our TA suggested our wedding week at the Club Hotel and then our second week at the RPTB, which is a good idea. I just read consistently good reviews about the RPTB and can't help but wonder if this would be better? Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated! Thanks.
  11. Does the chair cover 'rental fee' cover chairs for the ceremony and reception? or just one?
  12. Congrats on your wedding, thanks for all the helpful info! Do you remember how much it was per persone for your tour? Did you get a group discount? Did you book before you went or when you got there?
  13. These pics are great! Your dress is beautiful, Congrats!
  14. I emailed the Rockhouse last week with a few general questions, and they responed very quickly. One thing that they quoted me, they are booked until July 9, 2010 and only do so many weddings a year...so if you're thinking this place is for you, I would reserve a place soon!
  15. A DW will seem so easy after all your initial stress, goodluck and try to enjoy the process.
  16. Once you get going it will all come together, try not to stress!
  17. You should check out RIU resorts, that's where we're at because they allow kids (they can stay and eat free too), which will be in our wedding party. I'm told they allow kids, but aren't overrun with kids either.
  18. Goodluck with the plans, the big day is coming FAST!
  19. Happy Planning! You will find lots of info on this site!
  20. Congrats and welcome, this forum is so helpful!
  21. Thanks for sharing! I could see this becoming a last minute annoying detail
  22. Thanks for all the help ladies, just waiting for my updated pricing from the TA....that might be the deciding factor!
  23. I'm thinking that might be the way to go, just bring along some nice ribbon and I bet the flowers will look great. Easy way to save $$$ on the 'extra' flowers, centerpieces, chairs, etc. Plus, I can always use another reason to go shopping!
  24. Please do share some pics and the pros/cons! I'm still deciding between the RIU Club and Tropical Palace...so any help is welcomed!
