  1. Very nice towels. I am doing my research now to order towels. Does anyone know of a Canadian company so the shipping is less? I don't have a logo either so I am hoping that they can just put text on the towel.
  2. congrats and welcome - wishing you the very best
  3. We are staying together the night before - I am pretty excited to wake up with each other and share the excitement that 'today is our day'. You could always stay with your parents or bridesmaides the night before? I have heard that it is bad luck to try on other peoples engagement rings......
  4. There is a tradition to save the top layer of your wedding cake and eat it on your 1st year anniversary --ewww
  5. I'm 5'1" and FI is 6'3" eek - I have no idea what I am wearing for footware yet. For brides that are going barefoot for the ceremony and wearing heels/platforms for the reception - what length are you getting your dress hemmed to? I was thinking of doing that but I don't want my dress to drag in the sand too much for the ceremony and I also don't want it to look too short if I put on shoes.
  6. we just had our social and our hall held 355 - the alcohol bill came to $2200 (68 units) so yours would be slightly more than that. It also depends what alcohol you choose. We ordered food for 170 and it cost us $200 from cantors with tax. It was the traditional social food. Rule of thumb for food is to order half the number of people you expect to show up-anything else just ask I think I may be a social pro from helping plan 2 of my friends and just mine!!
  7. I have nothing to sell but just thought I would say hello because I am shorter than you at 5'1!!!! Congrats and hope you find your perfect TTD!
  8. Hi Ladies - I am one of the girls that gets a icky feeling when FI goes. He has been only twice in the last 6 years and that was for stags so I cannot complain. It is very strange and I don't even know why it bothers me. I know he is absolutley crazy about me. I have heard horror stories about stags when the stripper is hired to come to a house. There is a lot worse that can and does happen in these scenarios - so if the stag is at a strip club all the better.
  9. Wine openers, Wine Stoppers, Shot glasses, playing cards
  10. That is a scary thought! I know that there is a gazebo and an indoor reception area so I am assuming that if these areas are not in use you can be moved...... A while back I checked the average rainfall and in the season I am going to be there - it rains an average 1 out of 7 days so I would be pretty unlucky to have rain on the wedding day - maybe have a look at the average rainfall for your dates??
  11. A really neat website is walkjogrun.net - it is a great tool for knowing how far you are running and building yourself up for greater distances - good luck!
  12. Definately a lot more to worry about if you get an outdoor cat. Just keep in mind that typically once a cat has a 'taste' of the outdoors they will always try to get out which will make it really hard to change them to an indoor cat. Another thing to think about -outdoor kitties will hunt and probably bring you 'presents' on your doorstep (ie dead mice, bunnies etc). Lots to think about - all the best!!! meow
  13. Jenn - yes indeed you have time on your side!! Joss - Thanks for starting the social thread
  14. Our social is in 4 weeks-it is at Northwood Community Centre Sept.12. Halloween socials are a great idea!
  15. Hi Jenn LOVE LOVE that dress! Perfect for a DW. The back is hot! You should print a picture and bring it to the salons with you. That is what I did with a different dress I liked and Labelles actually had it! My dress I am pretty sure was on this round rack that had destination/less dressy dresses. For shoes - I am planning to make bare foot sandals to wear at the ceremony but it would be great to wear wedges for pictures but that might not work because of the different length the dress will need to be. I am going to talk to Stella's (just found out yest that my dress is in!!!! eek) It is a tough decision. My FI is 6'3 and I am 5'1 so I don't want to look so tiny in all the pictures! Heels might sink in the sand. If you are having an indoor reception you could always switch shoes afterwards? Have a look through some threads on here - see what some other brides have done. I will keep my fingers and toes crossed that you find your dress!
  16. Hi Jenn The dress I chose is not too heavy - have a look it is Alfred Angelo style 2007 with the sash in sage (ivory). Let me know what you think. Yes we are doing trash the dress. Very excited. Most dresses do not get ruined from what I have read. If mine does - that is a sacrifice I am willing to make to have those pictures!!! I will never wear that dress again but the pictures I will use over and over again!! I definately understand though about spending the money on the dress and being hesitant!! Just try on lots and lots! Or you could get a seperate dress for trash the dress. One of the cheapest ways to do that is to buy a bridesmaid dress in white/ivory. I do remember Stella's being hot now that you mention that! I am glad that you have good things to say about them! Seems every salon in Winnipeg has a bad reputation from somebody!! Have a great evening!
  17. Hey Ladies - I got my dress from Stella's. I did the same - went to about 5 different salons. I didnt choose Stellas for any specific reason - just they had a dress I fell in love with! I do love that mirror on the ceiling though so you can see the back of your dress. I bought it back in March and it still hasn't come in but they did say it can take up ro 6 months. Our social is in 4.5 weeks!! Ahhh. Prizes are slowly coming together - it is just ticket sales that have us worried!! Everyone seems to want to buy at last minute. Still so much to do - but it always comes together! I have helped with enough of them to know that!! I know someone that did order the pizza - they ended up getting lots of gift certs as well that they could use in their silent auction which is awesome!! I LOVE that there are so many peggers on here!! Enjoy the weather this week - it is finally summer!
  18. congrats - happy planning!
  19. Congtrats!! I agreee - there are always people out there that are picky and give bad reviews which makes it very difficult when deciding! There is so much great information and lovely people on here I am sure you will find all your answers. Also check out facebook there is a Playa Pesquero group with tons of pictures and info! It's your wedding and it will be beautiful no matter where you choose!!!! Happy Planning!
