  1. Hi Elisha, dj mannia was separate from the resort. It was totally worth the extra money though. I saw a great review on this forum and then contacted them through email.
  2. We used DJ Mannia at the Barcelo Maya Palace and were so impressed! The whole night was amazing. They were so professional and quick to respond to our emails when we were in contact with them. We used their lit dancefloor and were so happy we did, it made everything perfect. The playlist and song mixing was great. Thank you so much for everything.
  3. Hi Everyone! Here is my review from our amazing Palace Wedding that took place April 7th. Claudia was our WC and she was awesome! She looked after all of the details for us by email before we arrived and during our stay, we only had to meet with her for just over an hour our entire stay. She let us give her any wedding favors/reception items to keep in her office a head of time. We had the mint breeze package and paid extra for a cocktail hour and dj/dance floor for the reception. This was totally worth it. The day of the wedding I got my dress steamed in my room, called laundry services and they sent two people up right away...a little procrastinating on my part, but it got done in time. My cousin did my hair and makeup so I did not use the onsite spa for that, so no reviews can be given on that detail. Claudia picked me up in a golf cart at 2pm, she had my bouquet and the girl's flowers, I paid extra for those. I had gerbera daisies and they were perfect! we were doing photos with the two of us before the ceremony so we did not run out of time after. One of our guests is a photographer so he did everything and since he was a resort guest, no extra charge. Our ceremony was at 330pm right on the beach in front of the palace grill. It is so beautiful there! Nice and out of the way of most beach goers. I let claudia tell guests and wedding party where to be and there was no stress at all. We did a symbolic ceremony and our JP was great, very humorous. After the ceremony we did a group pic and then had an hour to do more pics with our wedding party. We had a cocktail hour on the rooftop at 530-630pm. We used our ipod for music and it was perfect. We did caribbean appys and they were all great, especially the coconut shrimp! The reception was right beside the rooftop around 7 so while everyone was getting seated we went to the beach for a wedding party photo. We made a seating chart/center piece using sand pails, sand and "palm trees" made our of green paper and wooden sticks wrapped in pipe cleaners. They were so cute and everyone's names were wrote on a leaf. We had DJ mannia for the reception and they were so great. They announced everyone and had a great supper playlist. For the rest of the night I had given them some music suggestions and they are highly recommended. Supper was fantastic, ceasar salad, french onion soup, beef tenderloin or chicken pesto with choc molten cake. Everyone loved their food and we were so happy with the service. We also upgraded our wedding cake to 3 tiers, vanilla, strawberry and coconut. This cake was amazing and so fresh! They use real strawberries and coconut..to die for! We had gotten our guest shot glasses, brought as a carry on in the plane, so we got the servers to go around to the tables and give the guests different shooters, it worked out great. DJ mannia was so professional and guided us through everything. They asked us when we wanted to do the dances, speaches, cake cutting..no need to have those details worked out way ahead of time, it all works out perfect in the end. We added the lit dancefloor instead of just dancing on the carpet and it was so worth the extra $. Our reception ended at 11 so we moved over to the lobby bar and then to the disco after midnight. Our wedding day was truly perfect and amazing. The Barcelo Palace did a great job with the entire week and everyone had the time of their lives. Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Thanks for reading! Jenny
  4. Hi, I don't even remember the names of the buildings sorry. I don't think it really matters which building at the palace as both are close to everything. The buildings are quite long, so there might be a bit of a walking if you are at the back side of them. Don't get too stressed/high hopes if you request closer rooms to the pools, beach etc because things might change last minute..it's Mexico. But just try to remember to relax and enjoy everything
  5. Hi Everyone, I have been to the Barcelo Palace before so please feel free to ask any questions. I am new to the wedding planning part but would love to help answer anything I can. Happy Planning everyone
  6. Hi Sabrina, I did notice as well that our wedding dates are a day off! That is awesome and I hope we can meet when we are at the resort. I did have a bit of trouble booking with CAA and westjet vacations. we had about 20 rooms wanting to book and they told us there were not enough rooms too! way too stressful. Anyways our travel agent worked for about 4 days with westjet and finally got the first group booked. But we also have calgary bookings to still do and I am not sure how seamless that will go. There has to be enough rooms as it is still far enough in advance. We had actually phoned down to the resort when we had this booking issue and they were only at 40% capacity so there must be some miscommunication between the resort and the travel companies. I hope that everything works out for both of us. Talk to you soon Jenny
  7. Hi Everyone! Now that our travel agent has booked the first group of people, the planning starts. I am so excited for all the other barcelo palace brides! The resort is so beautiful and I know everyone will have such a fantastic time there. Congratulations to all.
  8. Question about invitations. We are putting an insert in with our invitations that will have the travel agents information on for bookings. How in depth do you think the information on that needs to be? IS it ok to not put cost on there if you have talked to most guests about that before hand? I just don't want to upset our guests with not enough info on the card, but we have spoken to everyone about where we are going, etc. Any comments would be helpful Thanks so much Jenny
  9. I am getting married at the Barcelo Maya Palace April 7th, 2010. We had visited the resort before and had such an amazing time. I hope all goes well, as I am sure it will. Any planning tips/comments are welcome.
