We're thinking about going to the courthouse in the U.S. after we get back from Mexico. That way we really do get married in Mexico but don't have to wait 9 months to make it legal in the states. Any reason why people aren't doing it this way and are getting married before they leave instead?

We got our first email from the wedding coordinator on Friday. It was sent from Ael Enciso. I have exchanged emails with Ael before. It's so exciting to finally hear from the coordinator to get the planning started!! I have so many questions, but I tried not to throw too many back at them right away. I'm trying to get the time for our reception moved up. 8:45 just seems so late to eat if we're getting married at 5:00. I'll let you girls know how that goes. We're also still hammering out the photographer issue. The last I heard from Ael, all she said was that we wouldn't get a discount on our wedding package if we didn't use the included photos. No mention of a outside vendor fee or booking a room for the photographer. Not sure what to think?? We want to do a cocktail reception between the ceremony and dinner, and we'd also like to have our first dance then. I'm just not sure if the lobby bar is an appropriate space for that? Anybody know?

nessaj: That's so great to hear; thanks for chiming in. I agree that we all should get what we want. I'm going to try to work out a similar deal with the resort. We have 40 people coming too, so hopefully that will be leverage. What a great photographer you hired. I can't wait to see your pictures. When is your wedding?

I'm glad that you had a good experience with the resort's photographer. That's good to hear. Here are my main issues: I have seen some local photographers with outstanding pictures and reasonable rates. I haven't seen much of the resort photograher's work. The resort's package only includes one hour before the ceremony, during the ceremony, and one hour after. For close to the same price, I can get a pretty sweet photographer for 5 or 6 hours. I just need to figure out how to get him on to the resort.

tylersgirl: No I haven't heard anything from the resort other than as a reply to what I have sent them. I've sent two emails and both times they've answered my questions and then asked that I wait until 1 to 2 months before hand to arrange all the details. However, I don't want to wait that long to lock in my photographer. I already feel like I'm a little behind, but I'm getting married on a Monday and so far almost every photographer that I've contacted has been available.

Thanks Chloe: That information is very helpful. And hopefully will be cheaper than the $400 fee. So I'd just need to book a room for my photographer and his assistant? Do I need to tell the resort what my plans are? Has anyone else done this? I just don't want the resort to object to them taking pictures, once I hire the photographer and pay for the room. Maybe I'm worrying too much, but I just don't want to waste money if the resort sees through my plan.

Hi everyone. This is such a helpful forum! I'm wondering if anyone has hired a local photographer for their wedding at the RPRM? We want to have someone local, but not the resort photographers. Will the resort let us? All I've heard so far from them is that they "prohibit the entrance of external photographers." There must be some way around this? Thanks for your input!
