I have no idea how to post pictures but there is a picture of the free cake in my photos: Picasa Web Albums - lustee - Pictures It's picture #155. I hope this helps! Karen

Hi Nyarai, I upgraded my bouquet - the cost was $200 and a $20 credit was applied since I didn't get the free bouquet. There were 11 roses, 6 calla lilies, 9 green orchids, and 4 white orchids in the bouquet. Let me know if you have any more questions! Karen

What is your take on this and most importantly how were your guests? Moving to the Sea Grape from the Mammee was not an issue at all. We literally left our dinner table and walked down the stairs and that's where our set up was for the beach reception. Your guests definately won't mind! Karen

Which reception venue did you pick? and did you get a DJ? Thank you again! LOVE LOVE the pics! Hi! I would be happy to answer your questions……..The wedding coordinators placed a chair for every guest in front of the gazebo. There were also chairs on the gazebo for bride/groom/witnesses so I would bring 20 chair covers and sashes to be safe. We had our dinner at the Mammee Steakhouse and then went to the Sea Grape for our reception. We did have a DJ from 9:00pm-12:00am. Our one year anniversary was yesterday! My how time flies…….. Anyways, let me know if you have any more questions and Happy Planning!! Karen

You won't be disapointed with Michael - he is amazing!

  8. Hi! We booked Michael for 5 hours and it was no problem to split the time up - he came from 3:30pm-6:00pm for the ceremony and then came to the Sea Grape at 9:00pm to take reception/cake cutting photos. We used the rest of the time the next am at Dunn's! Karen Quote: Originally Posted by IrishgirlinNY Hi Kristie Congratulations on your wedding! I have a question about Michael. Thank you so much Hi Cheryl, This is the reading that we had my brother do: Blessing of the Hands" “These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow, and forever. These are the hands that will work alongside yours, as together you build your future. These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch, will comfort you like no other. These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief fills your mind. These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes; tears of sorrow, and tears of joy. These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children. These are the hands that will help you to hold your family as one. These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it. And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged, will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch.†He read it before the vows. Karen

As in, the dance floor is literally the beach?!! LOL Hi! The suite side of the resort (where the pool reception is held) is quite quiet - people could walk by you on their way to dinner/bar etc and could look down at you from their balconies. The beach bar is directly below one of the bars so you could have some onlookers but no one really walking by. I think that most ppl respect that it's your wedding reception so they are not going to bother you no matter where you choose to be. And yes, the dance floor is the beach - we were all in bare feet or flops!

Was it expensive? I would love to do that as well but have no idea how to go about arranging it. Hi! I was very happy with my beach reception. It was absolutely beautiful – I wouldn’t have changed a thing about it. It was very private – we did our speeches, cake cutting, and dances there. To arrange a horse for you pictures walk off the resort and you will see horses slightly to the left across the street. The guys who own the horses are super sweet – they just asked me how much I wanted to pay and I said $40 – they seemed quite happy with this amount. We had a 4:00pm ceremony and Angel (the horse) arrived at 5:00pm. We had her for about ½ hour – so much fun and I LOVE the way the pics turned out! Let me know if you have any more questions! Karen

I wouldn't say that the beach bar is better than the poolside.......I was just extremely happy with our reception at the beach bar........the tables were all set up with white tablecloths and candles in the middle of each of them. Chandlyn brought our ceremony flowers to the reception and placed them on the tables. The area was surrounded by torches and it was so beautiful to have our first dance in the sand, under a full moon and stars, with the sound of the ocean in the background. The poolside reception is on the suite side of the resort and looked lovely as well – I think that the beach reception was just more my style - but I am sure that either or would be great! Karen
  13. Hi! We had our reception at the Sea Grape (beach bar) and it was AMAZING! I wouldn't change a thing! Let me know if you have any questions! Karen

  15. Hi, I had a group of 21 people and I rented the Sea Grape after our dinner at the Mammee Bay. We had originally booked the Sea Grape from 9:00pm-11:00pm but I paid the DJ for an extra hour to stay until 12:00am. The bartender had to leave at 11:00pm to go to the Disco but he left us 4 bottles of wine and a HUGE jug of beer. We did our speeches, cake cutting, our first dance, mother/son dance, father/daughter dance from 9:00pm-10:00pm and then the DJ played from 10:00pm-12:00am. The reception was amazing, it was definitely one of my favorite parts of the day. The Sea Grape was set up so beautifully and it was so romantic to have our first dance in the sand under the stars and a full moon. It was well worth the $$$ ($10pp for the open bar and $150 per hour for the DJ) and I wouldn’t change a thing. Let me know if you have any questions! Karen
  16. Jerseykitten, They cost $200 from Tai Flora in Jamaica - $150 for the petals and $50 for the aisle runner. They blew all over the place so I thought the floral arrangements were more worth the $$ (only $80 each)........but the petals did look nice in the pictures!!!
  17. Hi BeachIrishBride! The resort uses Tai Flora. I went with the free package which does include a basic bouquet and bout.....I wanted to upgrade so I emailed Tai in advance and had my invoice from them before I ever left for Jamaica. I did not communicate with the Priest before the wedding - but he was AMAZING!! Super nice and funny! I brought the outline for the ceremony with me and gave it to Chandly and Nickisha (the wedding coordinators) who then gave it to the Priest. We had each of our siblings do a reading and we had the sand ceremony - the entire ceremony lasted about 20 minutes. You will get to choose how you want the gazebo decorated. I arranged the aisle runner, rose petals down the aisle, and two floral arrangements in front of the gazebo with Tai before my trip but you can decide at your initial meeting with the wedding coordinators. I got the chair covers for the ceremony and dinner which were $12USD each. Chandlyn and Nickisha are the wedding coordinators on the resort. They are FABULOUS! You can communicate with them by email before you leave and can make arrangements for dinner/reception/bands/djs/etc Hope this helps! Let me know if there is anything else!! Karen First, beautiful wedding photos- I bet you love looking at them! I'm trying to figure out what resort in Jamaica to book my wedding at and it seems as though the ROR is the front runner. I just was wondering if you could let me know how you found the planning process to be. I was under the impression that the hotel supplied you with flowers but I read in your earlier post that you got your flowers from Tia Flora. Any reason in particular? Also, how did it work with your officiant? Did you get to communicate with them before your wedding? Did you have any say in how the ceremony went? Also, I have seen a few different photos of the beach gazebo - so pretty. But they all are somewhat different - chairs, flowers etc. Is this customization up to the couple? Does the Riu coordinator execute this? I was originally looking to work with a wedding planner on the island but if the Riu will 'customize' the wedding then I will just work with them. My main concern is the officiant... Thanks for you help in advance!

  19. Hi! Yes, Michael only does the really "big" packages - ie 200 pics or more - he also goes to Riu Montego Bay if there is a big package there and then his colleagues will do the Riu Ocho Rios weddings. We had one of Michael's colleagues for the "pre-wedding" photos. At first I was really upset that Michael wouldn’t be joining us until the actual wedding…..but his colleague did a good job – we had him for ½ hour before the wedding and then him and Michael did the wedding (so they could get lots of shots from different angles). After the Ceremony we just had Michael but his colleague took pictures of our guests and these turned out beautiful. We did get the package of 200 pictures and we had almost 1000 to choose from!! I am sure you won’t be disappointed – all of the work at the Photo Shop is just great – and everyone is SUPER nice! Let me know if you have any more questions! Happy Planning! Karen

The glass pillars were provided by Tai Flora - the 2 floral arrangements were $80 each and we got to bring the pillars to the reception dinner as well. They took the pillars after dinner but we brought the floral arrangements to our private reception and then back to our room. The cake was the free cake. If you have any more questions please let me know! Happy Planning!! Karen

I had my invoice before I ever left for Jamaica. If you have any more questions let me know!! Karen

We set up the shoot at Dunns River Falls through the photographer (Michael). We travelled to the Falls with Michael first thing in the am (Dunns opens at 8:30am). Apparantly if there are cruise ships in you can't do the shoot as it's too busy; but luckily the day we chose there were no cruise ships in so we were pretty much the only ones there! We stayed for about 2 and a half hours. Lots of fun! Let me know if you have any other questions! Karen

They were beautiful. I picked my bouquet out online and sent it to Tai Flora - it was 11 pink roses, 9 green orchids, 4 white orchids, and 6 calla lilies; the bridesmaid bouquets were 6 calla lilies each. 3. Did you go to the beauty salon or did you do your hair yourself? I went to the beauty salon for hair/make up/manis/pedis. 4. Did you use the onsite photographer of someone from your family? We used Michael (the onsite photographer). 5. What was the cost of the horse? They guys with the horse just asked me how much I wanted to pay - I paid them $40. They were SUPER nice guys! Thanks for answering my question. If you have any other questions let me know! Karen
