  1. We went to Sandals Negril for our weddingmoon on Nov. 11, 2012. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We had a beautiful concierge level beachfront room on the 2nd floor overlooking the beach and it was breathtaking to open up the patio doors and walk out on the patio to see the beach and sun setting when we arrived! Our wedding was absolutely the wedding I dreamed about from the moment we decided to do a destination wedding. First of all the wedding co-ordinator gives you a date a few months ahead of your wedding date at which time she will contact you to go over the details of your wedding. Giselle was our wedding co-ordinator at Sandals in Negril and she is excellent! The day after we arrived we met with her and she went over every single wedding detail with us and booked the times for my hair/makeup appointments and our spas and everything for us when we met with her. Nothing went wrong and we were fully prepared for how the wedding would take place! It didn't feel like a standard wedding as they did everything in order for you to personalize it the way you want just for you as every wedding is different. They have 3 wedding locations to choose from (garden, beach or gazebo) and any request you have they will do whatever they can to see that it gets done. Josette was my hair/make-up stylist and I brought her a photo that I liked for my hairstyle and she did it perfectly and my make up looked amazing! I told Giselle that I had my father's watch with me (he passed away 4 years ago) and I wondered if we could somehow get it placed in the bouquet and she made sure that was done! Thank you Giselle! I also want to say thank you to Clintest and Gawayne for all your help with everything as well! Our photographer was Anthony and for us he was perfect! He was so hilarious which made us very comfortable and relaxed which made for beautiful pictures. He did every pose we wanted and more! The pictures he took were amazing and more than I ever hoped for! The people that work at Snapshots and put the albums together are The Best! Their photo albums are soooo beautiful and you can make as many changes as you need to until the photo album is exactly the way you like it! We booked a candlelight dinner on the beach and it was so beautiful too! The rest of the trip outside of our wedding day was the best! The servers at the Bayside restaurant start your day off just right as they are friendly and welcoming every day! They even knew what day we were leaving and gave me a big hug and said they hope we enjoy our last breakfast at Sandals that last day that we went down! I was blown away by this! The Bayside is the main restaurant you have your breakfast/lunches at and it is buffet style however we never had the same thing twice! Their buffet is not your typical buffet there are several stations available for whether you want hot cooked food or anything you want whether it is subs/wraps/salads/pastas/fruit smoothies whatever you crave they have! We went to every restaurant and Barefoot by the Sea was especially nice as you are right on the beach in a beautiful candlelit restaurant and the food was delicious! Our room was fully stocked every day with alcohol (awesome Jamaican Red Stripe beer and Appleton Rum) and cold drinks and the amazing Jamaican Blue mountain coffee! The bathroom was fine and the water pressure was great! I have seen alot of complaints about the water pressure in the showers but we had no problem at all however the water left your skin feeling very dry. We always had lots of hot water no matter what time day or night we showered. For water sports we had a blast on the Hobie cat! The sandals photograpers are almost everywhere on the property taking your pictures if you want and in the water and they took our pictures while we were out on the Hobie Cat. You just give them your room number and go to the Snapshots booth later to get your beautiful professional picture! We went snorkelling and Big Poppa and Smiley are the two that take you out. They are friendly and fun and also very safety conscious as our first trip out a tropical storm had passed through over night (not Hurricane Sandy) and made for a very rough surf. They kept a very careful eye on everyone going in the water and we ended up needing their help and they were able to foresee this even before we did. Thank you for everything! There was photographer on another one of our snorkelling trips who took beautiful pictures of us holding starfish and urchins. Smiley went down and brought up a puffer fish for us to hold. It was hilarious! We loved our snorkelling trips out and a big Huge Thank you to Big Poppa and Smiley! Mr Hollywood was our photographer on both the snorkelling trip and our Catamaran Cruise and he was the Best!! The Catamaran Cruise is a MUST!!! It is a beautiful huge Catamaran with lots of food and alcohol onboard. We went down to Rick's Cafe in Negril which is an infamous location where hundreds of people gather for the professional Cliff Jumping that you can watch and you can also jump off the lower cliff's yourself if you like. There is a restaurant/bar there as well and gift shops too. We swam around the cliff area here too and the water was beautiful. Oh and to our surprise there was another catamaran there with the people from Hedonism II on it so we got to see some extra sights! Then we stopped at Negrils' Margaritaville on our way back to Sandals. The sunset was beautiful as always but it was just that much better while sitting on the deck of this beautiful Catamaran sipping on a drink while holding the one you love. Overall I would say this trip was above my expectations and we already booked to go back at the Soon Come Back desk before we left. I have to say I read alot of reviews over the past few months prior to leaving and some made me feel so excited and others made me concerned but honestly I have to say I can't see why anyone would complain about anything at Sandals Negril. The people go out of their way to see that you are enjoying yourself and all your needs are taken care of. The only complaint I have now is that I won't be able to go anywhere else other than a Sandals resort after the way we were spoiled! Thank you to everyone at Sandals Negril! .
  2. Hey I was wondering if you still had lots of questions about getting married at Sandals Negril. I got married there and I can send you a review of how ours went if you want? Let me know thanks Dianna
  3. I am getting married at Sandals Negril in November. Could you send me some wedding pics from your wedding? I understand you have to use the Sandals photographer only and the packages are pricey so I would love to know how you felt the photographer and photos were? A few other questions..We are staying at the Grand Lux beachfront rooms, do they give you a special Honeymoon room the night of your wedding or no? Was there a lot mire hidden costs that surprised you or was it pretty much what they quoted you?
  4. We are planning on marrying at Sandals Negril in November 2012. I'm so glad I found this thread can't wait to read all about your experiences! We are having a private wedding probably just the 2 of us possibly another couple but we really want a nice private ceremony and we will have a reception when we get back with all the pics and experience we had! My only concerns is how well the hair and make-up and photos turn out! I would just like any recommendations on a photographer and one that has nice ideas for special poses! I will keep watching this thread to see any pics and reviews from others who get married there!
  5. You should consult with a local travel agent for the best place for you. I was told from the one I contacted that Beaches Negril was by far the best place for kids. She told me that Beaches are owned by Sandals resorts only that kids under 16 or 18 I cant remember which are not allowed at Sandals resorts so we would have to go to the Beaches resort instead. After checking it out online and reading lots of information she gave us we decided that Beaches is the place for us! I was concered because my kids arent toddlers....they are 13 & 15 when we go next year and I was concerned that Beaches might be set up more for toddlers. I found out that they have a Sesame Street section and you can have breakfast with a Character or something but that's pretty much it! I was worried the older kids feel awkward if it was too "kiddy" but apparantly it's not so now I'm excited! Hope this helps!
  6. I hear ya about the family issues!!! The traditional church wedding just isnt for me. This is going to be a dream wedding for me! Welcome to the forum!
  7. I can't wait to see your pics especially cuz if I have it right you are having a small wedding and I am also having a small private wedding. Can't wait to see your pics Omg I'm getting excited just reading your post and imagining how you must be feeling
  8. I'm so glad you mentioned the sesame street characters LOL. We are planning a wedding at Beaches Negril next May and we are wondering the same thing....ours kids are older like preteen and they won't be happy if it is geared for really little kids and if the whole resort is kinda too childish. I don't think it is but the sesame pics really scare me into thinking that my kids are gonna be like"....ooookkkkk you won't catch me dead in any of those pools if cookie monster is gonna come see me" LOL I don't think it will be like that but it would be nice to have some reassurance Thanks
  9. Hey I'm new to this forum and sometimes I see abbreviations for some things and I'm scratchin my head to figure out what they mean LOL Ok here are some of the ones I don't know FI = ?? ROR = ?? I know theres more but can someone give me answers to these and some others that I might come across and not know LOL....like I think FI means fiance however what does the I stand for? and what is a ROR wedding? Sorry usually not a noob LOL
  10. I'm trying to decide on a resort to have our DW and I'm not exactly sure how you guys found the particular resort you chose? Do I just google resorts in the area I would like to go to or what? We are looking for a resort in Dominican Republic or Jamaicaa and we are having a very small wedding...only 4-6 ppl including us and maybe 2 kids that are 12-14 yrs old...I just don't know how to find the right resort for this as I don't want to end up in a resort that is known to attract alot of seniors or to attract alot of 20year olds that are there for partying hard and I don't want a place that is loaded with kids LOL so how do I find a resort? How do you narrow them down to a small list?
  11. Hey there, I'm not sure how many people actually have small weddings versus how many have large weddings when they plan a DW but I am like you with only about 4 - 6 of us....and it may even turn out that it is just the two of us but we don't care. We will have a reception when we get back home and the thoughts of having a boring traditional church wedding and a reception in some hall or something to me is absolutely definately not what I want to do just to please everyone else Seriously though only a few people don't understand this but they will get over it and I will be so glad that I decided to just say "forget about what they all want me to do" and enjoy my wedding ceremony in a beautiful tropical setting and atmosphere
  12. Hey there, I was just wondering if anyone had any Valentine's ideas to offer to me about what to get my FI I guess I'm just wondering what kind of things you guys do for Valentine's for him or what you would buy for him? I always find it hard to find the best gift for him for Valentine's day however he always knows just exactly what to get me! >.< grrr LOL I would just like to get him something a little special
  13. I'm very new to finding out information about having a DW...what do you mean by legal day? Is it illegal to get married when you do a DW??
  14. I've been trying to find out how much money a DW will cost approximately. I know everyone will have ended up paying different amounts depending on soooo many things but roughly I would like some idea as a base as to how much we are looking at for a DW? We won't be having any discounts for a large wedding party because it will be very small...4-6 people maybe 8 so I'm trying to get some numbers to start with but I'm not having much luck. Does it depend on where you go such as Cuba versus DR or no it just depends on the resort u stay or what? If anyone can tell me how much they paid and where they stayed so I can have a rough idea of how much we might be looking at would be appreciated. I know that alot of variables can change the prices but I just want a rough idea as to how much I should allow for an all inclusive 7-10day DW. Thank you
  15. We are going to have "If you're not the one" by Daniel Bedingfield....its also perfect for us too because we met online and he ended up moving to my city to be with me so certain parts of this song hit home really hard. I remember hearing it on the radio in my car about 3 months before he actually ended up moving here and I had to pull over and started crying for him so hard.....thank god nobody could see me Even now when I hear that song it brings tears to my eyes pretty easy so I can just see me now when it's played as our wedding song....OMG LOL
  16. I feel the same way as you however I'm not changing my day for anyone....if they dont like it then don't worry they will get over it once they accept thats whats gonna happen. I am not interested at all in a boring traditional church wedding and reception in some boring hall or something at all......so if it is just the two of us which it looks like thats the way its going to be then we will do that and have a reception for us when we get back. I feel weird about how I have no idea who is going to be our witnesses LOL and a few other things like I see these big huge wedding parties in alot of pics here and I wonder how ours will go? My guess is that we will have a beautiful romantic dinner after our wedding and then enjoy the night dancing and having a good time and leaving whenever we feel like it and not worrying that someone is upset because I havent spent enough time with these guests or these guests LOL .....arrrggghhhh I love thinking about us getting married on the beach or close to it weather depending and in such a beautiful tropical setting without all the hastle of decorating some stinky hall LOL Good luck
  17. Hi there, I have been looking at alot of beautiful wedding photos on this site and I have a question about having a small destination wedding. We would really like to have our wedding in either Cuba, DR or Jamaica in the spring or fall of 2010. At this point we know for sure it will be us and my two kids attending for sure but I'm not certain if anyone else will be attending with us. Most of our family/close friends cannot travel there due to either being unable to travel to these places for various reasons or deceased. There may be a couple or two from our friends/family but not exactly certain at this point. My concern here is that we may not have anyone there with us who could watch my kids for us while we do a few excursions on our own and also how a small wedding like this is done. We have lots of suggestions that we should just get married here and travel to one of these places for a honeymoon but we are not interested in having a traditional church type wedding and reception here at home. We would really like to be married on the beach or in a tropical place somewhere, the traditional weddings are not of any interest to us. My real concern here is my kids and the size of the wedding. I thought that maybe I can send them back home with family after the wedding ceremony and we can stay a few more days to do some things on our own as "newly weds" but I'm not sure how that would work either. I'm concerned about them traveling on their own on a plane. My other concern is the size of our wedding and how a small wedding like this is done. There wouldn't be a huge private reception party so I don't know how this is done as well? Also like who would be our matron of honor or best man LOL....I don't know....I have soo many questions about a wedding like this Any advice and photos will be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you very much

We would like to get married in either Cuba, Dominican Republic or Jamaica. That's why I joined your forum so we can make a better decision on what we're looking for! Thank you Dianna Ps- looking forward to reading and seeing more however I end up getting so excited when I look at other weddings on here that I end up on here way too late at night! LOL
