  1. Some of those are quite massive.....are you wanting something really big? If not, you may want to check out Infiniti or Acura. Also, if you want a more "green" option check out the Subaru pzev Forester. It basically recycles its own exhaust and produces no emissions. Personally I wouldn't buy anything domestic right now. Besides the build quality and resale value often being lower, it also just seems a bit scary with how much trouble the car companies are in lately. If they stop getting bail-outs, you may end up having a car with no dealership support. Apparently the US government will cover warranties, but I'd rather just avoid the whole situation.
  2. For the cocktail hour and dinner we are just going to have our own music playing (ipod) but we want to get a band for part of the evening (we thought for the dancing part would be the most fun). The question is, when should I book them for, and for how long? Here is my rough schedule: 400-430: Ceremony 430-445: Group Photos (the group then heads back to the hotel) 515-615: Cocktail hour (bride and groom are finishing photos for part of this time) 615-715: Dinner 715 onward: cake cutting, dancing etc. Our wedding is only 20 people, and we're not having any official speeches or anything (although I suspect there will be plenty of lengthy toasts) so I think dinner may go longer than an hour. I also don't mind if the band arrives and starts playing when we're still finishing dinner, but I also don't want to cut into our "toasting time". What do you think...7? 730? 2 hours? 3 hours? I've never done this before, so please help!
  3. I would definitely not make two meals! My FI's mom used to always cook him separate versions of dinner without ingredients he doesn't like, and I won't even do that! Turns out he doesn't actually still hate a lot of ingredients he hated as a child All that being said, I will frequently give my FI a couple of options. I often can't decide what to make, so I'll say something like "we have chicken to use...should I make nabeyaki or parmesan garlic chicken?" I think he gets secretly annoyed with me asking him all the time, so when I DO just go ahead and make whatever he wants, he's actually happy. I also find that since my FI can't cook AT ALL he has no concept of what is quick to make, and what is a lot of work, so he sometimes says things that seem crazy or unreasonable, but it's just b/c he doesn't get how it all works!
  4. 50, 23, and 36 are the ones I like! I think they fit you the best through the waist, and are more slimming. I think that since you are fairly large chested you should be careful with the ones that go straight across because you can get the uniboob effect! You don't seem sure of what you're looking for, so I would definitely keep trying dresses on! It may take a while, but eventually you'll figure out what details you do and don't like.
  5. Thanks so much ladies! Based on your opinions I have put through my order! I got them all off ebay for about $45 each, which is about 50% off the normal price (I think they are from last year though). Personally I'm not much of a pink girl, but I think all of my BMs will like it. If not, they don't have to use it!

  7. I am making my BM's pink and orange gemstone earrings, and I wanted to also get them a clutch or a jewelry box. I thought I had settled on a clutch, but then my FI said he didn't like the color (I was like...WHAT, it's one of our wedding colors! and then he back-pedaled and said that the clutches just aren't something that would catch his eye in a store). Anyways, he's a boy and he doesn't know what he's talking about, but now I'm paranoid and would appreciate the the HONEST opinion of you ladies. Is this clutch something you would like to receive as a gift? The white in this photo is just stuffing; the whole lining is orange TIY!
  8. I just wanted to thank you ladies and let you know that we too are going with the BR Chino suit! We've officially looked at every store in existence, but my FI needs a size 36 jacket (a lot of them only go as low as 3 and our options were extremely limited. The Canadian BR stores don't carry size 36, so we're ordering the jacket online and hoping it fits! If my FI lets me, I'll take a picture of the full suit when we have it, since it seems to be a popular option. Thanks again
  9. I absolutely love the dress, but I definitely don't think it's for everyone! It's probably the best for average-chested ladies, since the flowers will just dwarf flat chests, and bring unwanted attention to large chests. The other MS destination dress with an asymmetrical strap would probably work for more people, and is a nice alternative! Ideally you'll be able to find it at a salon that allows photos!
  10. Slow dance shuffle, ballroom, or something crazy like hiphop? My fiance and I are undecided at this point, but I think we may go with some sort of ballroom dance and take lessons. We would've done a rock the reception type dance, but since we only have 20 guests we feel like it would be a bit weird (not enough cheering!). So basically, I'm curious as to what the rest of you ladies are doing!
  11. My very nice sister bought me one as an engagement present, but otherwise I probably wouldn't have bothered since my wedding is fairly small and casual. That being said, if I HAD bought one for myself, I probably would've gotten a starfish one to match my theme, and then never used it again. My sister got me a very pretty sparkly set covered in crystals, and I can use it for any fancy occasion! Sometimes things turn out better when they're unplanned
  12. I would definitely go sweetheart! In my head it looks more flattering

Such a good idea! I'm definitely stealing it!
  14. ok, new questions! Does the MoH get something extra, and if so, how much extra? Also, how much are your FIs spending on GM?

  16. My FI and are going to do TTD pictures on the beach (where we got engaged) when we get home, and we're including the dog! It should be fun because my dog loves the beach, and I'm pretty sure I can get him to chase my dress. My dog is also what my FI used to propose! He came running up to me with a little box tied to his back (so cute) and it's really important to us to include him in something!
  17. Pacific center is where we'll be, so I'll definitely check it out!! I'm actually excited, b/c then we could get the GM matching pants! How long ago were you there?
  18. thanks guys! We're going to try the "non-online" stores first because my FI has a really hard time with jacket fit, but I'm sure those online stores have good return policies so we'll check them out next week if this weekend doesn't go well. I can't believe I didn't think of Dillards; it's actually one of the only department stores in the small town we're living in! Corvette, are there pants sold as separates, or linen shirts in BR right now? I need to find stuff for the GM too :S

  20. So, the wedding is 6 weeks away, and we still don't have a suit for the groom! We're Canadian but my fiance is going to school in AZ, and we'll be in Van this weekend. He is hoping to get a Tan Linen suit, but so far we aren't having much luck. He wants something fairly high end, but not too ridiculous (under $1500 and cheaper is good!). We've called around to Holt Renfrew, Harry Rosen, and Mark James, but we don't really know where else to try. It seems like no one is getting much linen this year (or when they do, it's white!). Any suggestions? We're not actually from Van, and we although we prefer to buy from a smaller store we don't know where to look. If we can't find anything in Vancouver, we have to find something in Phoenix, so I'll take suggestions for there too (we've already called Nordstrom's, Neiman Marcus, and Saks without much luck). The other problem is that my fiance is quite small (a 36, or a small 3 and a lot of stores only stock bigger sizes. We found a great Z Zegna suit for about $800, but we can't find the right size anywhere!! Any help would be much appreciated! I'm trying my best not to panic :S TIA -Lyndsey
  21. My fiance just received his Trew Tungsten ring today, and it's gorgeous! The one thing you want to watch out for with tungsten rings is additional elements that may cause problems. Many of the rings contain cobalt or nickel which can cause skin problems, and make the rings more likely to break. Don't worry about removing the rings (it's a myth!). They can be removed with vice grips or various jewelers tools, and hospitals are equipped to deal with the problem. The Trew Tungsten site says to save the pieces if the ring is removed in an emergency, and they well replace it (with appropriate proof). I'm guessing other sellers do the same thing! We actually got a totally unexpected $80 rebate on the ring AFTER we paid for it because the cost of tungsten went down. How nice is that? I'm not sure about black tungsten rings (tungsten rings are naturally a gunmetalish color) so I would just look into the "ingredients" and make sure there's nothing weird or troublesome in there. GL! I personally think tungsten rings are fantastic. They're a bit manly while still looking nice, and they stand up fantastically to wear and tear. Sure they can't be resized, but that goes hand-in-hand with being as hard as sapphires and hardly ever needing to be polished! I'm starting to wish MY ring was tungsten :S
  22. I tried pming you, but BDW was having problems so I emailed you instead (starfish, half the notebooks and half the sudoku). Thanks
  23. Sample packs can be a life-saver! Trial and error is definitely going to come in play, but there is always going to be food that isn't good for any animal (even if they like it) and it's usually good to start with the best you can afford. I have my dog on a premium human-grade natural food, but I tried to switch him to a different brand when he was transferring to adult food, and then I tried a different one...and a different one...and a different one....but no luck! I literally tried like 7 different foods, but he starved himself until I tried his old brand. That being said, every dog that comes over devours his food, so it must be yummy! If you get a good food with no fillers, you may not need to get anything designed for sensitive stomachs. Cats are even more carnivorous than dogs, so sometimes they just can't digest certain ingredients well. A few of my friends have switched their dog to the same food I use (after their dogs went crazy for it) and the ones with allergies have had no problems since, even though it's a "regular" food. Whatever food you try, it's best to first mix it with your old food, or put it out in small amounts (or it can upset your cat's stomach more). Hopefully putting a ball in the dish will work too, or your cat will probably throw-up no matter what!
  24. are the ingredients listed anywhere on the chapstick? I noticed they use organic and natural ingredients (which is great, because some of my guests won't use "normal" stuff) but if those guests don't know it's organic they won't use it!
  25. I would give cards to everyone. A lot of people say they don't want gifts, and that attending the wedding IS the gift. If that's really the case, cards should be given! Regardless, I think it's a nice gesture, and it doesn't have to be expensive so there's no real reason not to do it (unless your wedding is massive).
