  1. Yeah, the more I've thought about it, the more reasonable 5 sounds with the heat and that way people have time to digest lunch. Thanks for the responses
  2. Hey everyone! I'm looking at the Virginia Beach area and contacted a company that does beach weddings, but some of the things they responded with have left me uncertain. For one, since it's in the middle of the summer, they only do weddings from 9-12 and 5-7. Ideally, I wanted to have the wedding around 330-400 so we could have the reception from 5-9 or 10. The place where they typically set up is about 20-25 min away from the reception/hotels area, which is what I expected. Also, having a wedding on the beach means you can't close off the area, and it may be difficult setting aside space for 150-200 people. My question is based on these details, have any of you been to or had or planned a beach wedding? Do you have any advice or tips or just facts about how things panned out? Any information regarding a beach wedding would be great! Thanks so much! Char
  3. This place is great! Do you know any information from personal experience or visits? Can non DOD family stay in the lodging and is it nearby enough for them to not have to drive? If you don't know I'll definitely give them a call! I'm planning a VA Beach wedding and my mom is in the Army so this could be a contender. Thanks for posting it!
  4. I know my parents and friends went out there and LOVED it, and I think it was for my cousin's wedding. Either way, it was amazing for them and I'm jealous I couldn't go Good luck!! Char

Vegas would be awesome! Would it be in the surrounding area or actually in the Vegas strip? I know my dad and uncle would love me if I did it there haha.
  6. My name is Charlotte, wedding date is July 17, 2010, and Virginia Beach is the expected location. Aaron graduates from West Point this May and will be in the Army thereafter, so we're hoping he's not shipped to the sandy land at a time that would interfere with our date, but there's no guarantee. Because we're both Army brats, we've had a hard time picking a "state" let a lone a location for our wedding. After going up and down the east coast, I've found that Virginia Beach will probably work with close, inland, cheap hotels, and the beach nearby for the ceremony. Though it's not as destination as many people on this site, it's still a destination wedding for me, being in CT for school, my parents stationed in Germany, and his in North Carolina. I look forward to getting ideas and advice, and helping others if I can Char
