My FI and I wanted an all inclusive and a small intimate resort. We have two kids so we are getting married at Beaches Negril in Jamaica. Sandles resorts are a great way to get married. When we were in the Dominican people were just walking around topless!! "Cringe" Altough pransing around topless isn't an option for most of us I think that the best solution is to wear lots of sunscreen and to bring along some self tanner just in case!! Nothing worse than looking at wedding pictures and all you can see is the brides tanlines!! Thank you for posting this thread... Great suggestions.

I really love this forum, its' full of so much valuable information but i'm noticing that there isn't very many Beaches brides... I see a lot of ROR and i wonder why there are so many brides that have or will be married there!! Don't get me wrong its a great resort no doubt, but I just wish this site had as many Beaches threads as it does ROR... So i'm starting this thread in hopes to gather up some Beaches Groupies!!! Hope to chat with other Beaches brides soon!

I would suggest Beaches, but i'm biased because that's where were going! There isn't a whole of of threads about Beaches which is unfortunate. Happy planning!

That's one of the benefits of being on the pill... You can manipulate them a little to have or not have a period at a certain time! It can be dangerous and have some pretty negative effects on your body so it's not suggested to do on a regular basis. The best thing is to talk to your doc or OB...

We just got engaged on December 25th and we've already chosen our resort. We have a large wedding party and the majority of them are coming! My TA has started booking for us and we have a deadline of February 13th for the deposits... What i'm wondering about tho is that we really only have officially invited the wedding party and our parents... for now... Because were only getting married in January 2010 we will still be sending out invitations to close friends and family. I think that we will probably have about 40 people with us!! Maybe less, maybe more... So long as my FI and I are there with the two kids, the rest is an added bonus... I want a small intimate venue... Nothing elaborate, just simple and sweet!

My FI and I have a budget in mind and we will do everything possible not to go over it! As mentioned in another thread, the joys of a DW is that once you pay the deposit on our location you have a few months to pay it off. In our case we have 11 months to pay of the remaining balance. We also put down a larger balance in the beginning! We are travelling with two kids and that makes it a little more expensive, but well worth it. When it comes to all the added extras we are going to try really hard to avoid overspending. We are bringing our own photographer (his mother) and we will have CDs made with our favourite music and well as our first dance. We dont mind if we have to play it in a courtyard under the stars, or just wait till we get home.... So long as we come back married that's all that really matters. I think the most important thing to do is to figure out a budget that works for you guys and stick to it no matter what!! Good luck and happy planning.

My BFF got married in the DR in April 08 and she brought her dress on the plane with her! We flew with West Jet and they were great at accomodating her. Unfortunately they didn't have a closet for her to hang it in, but she stored it in an over head bin. Then she had the resort staff steam her dress the day before the wedding. I hope that everything works out for you. I know I wouldn't feel comfortable with sending it ahead.. Worse case scenario u pack it in a suit case and inquired at the resort about a steaming service. Welcome Veronica. I know how your feeling. In my opinion picking the location is the hardest and probably most stressful part!! You will find lots of information on this forum to help you narrow it down and utlimately find your perfect location for your DW. Jamaica is beautiful and there are alot of BDW brides on this forum as well. If you have anyquestions I would be more than happy to help you the best way I can. Happy planning.

I am with you on that! I love trip advisor and I do keep in mind the difference in Vacationers and Travelers. My FI and I are hooked on looking at the pictures as well, it really does give you the "real" feel and look of the resort! This is how we chose the resort for our DW. I love the idea of OOT bags. Were doing that for our guests! We will be giving them to our guests during the welcome dinner the day after we arrive. Things that we want to include is sunscreen, bug replelant with DEET, small first aid kit and well as the personalized tanks that I've made for everyone! Our colors are fusia pink for the girls and I've found tank tops the same color and I included their title on it and for the groomsmen I've got some black muscle shirts for them with their title on it as well. We also used this idea at our engagement party! This way the guests that were there knew who the wedding party was. I think your timeline looks great! Your very organized! My FI and I have the date booked and the time but that's about it at this point! Were only getting married in January 2010 so I feel like we still have lots of time to plan out all the details! In our wedding package, they have included a private rehersal dinner. Were hoping that we can trasfer that dinner to the night of the wedding. Other than that, were just going to go with the flow!! Good luck and happy planning.
