  1. I know that we have discussed this in the past- but I can't go through over 100 pages of posts again.... So, I am going to have approximately 20-30 guests with me- and we are maxed out on our budget, so I am thinking about not paying extra for the private reception.... so what are my options- because the way I was reading the package is that you have to have a set menu after 10 people, but does that mean that you can all make reservations to go to the same place and not pay the additional? I personally don't care about it being "private" When I was at the Bahia, I saw a wedding party eating at the buffet all together. They won't charge any extra for that, do they?
  2. a lot of you have commented on safety concerns in Mexico- I have been all over Mexico on several different trips, I will put your minds at ease a little.... Most of the murder/kidnappings are drug related, and for the most part occur near border towns.... things really have blown out of control there, but cancun/riviera maya area is not the main concern. With that being said, obvious things like staying with someone else, not walking down dark streets, etc.... Just like any other place in the United states you might travel. You can also go to USA.gov: The U.S. Government's Official Web Portal and look up travel advisories for different countries and areas.... Happy traveling!
  3. I know this question has been asked before but... I seem to remember someone saying that if you stay at tulum or akumal that you won't be able to eat or drink at the other resorts anymore- I looked at the website and don't see anything about that- we will be traveling there in early march- can anyone answer this question or has stayed there very recently? Sorry, I didn't want to have to go through over 100 posts to find the answer again. Also, any advice on ala carte dinner choice would be great- we booked at tulum for 4 nights-- and hopefully be planning our wedding for next year to occur here. Thanks!
  4. SAME HERE! I have changed my mind about 10 times in the last week! The advantage for us is that we are going to have a backyard reception when we get back (and the weather warms up) so that no one will be left out- so it doesn't bother me as much if not a lot of people make it- and it is about the same price when you think about staying in an all inclusive resort in mexico compared to ala carte in Florida- try looking up forums on theknot.com for key west and other Florida weddings- I found a lot of information there!
  5. I am sure it could be done- especially if you have something small and lower key.... not sure if that's what you're looking for... this thing keeps getting larger and larger and the cost seems to balloon! Eloping sounds better and better to me!
  6. I know exactly where that's at and its beautiful- we will be coming back to the area in March and I promised that we would only devote one day to wedding related planning....lol when are you planning to wed?
  7. I am new here- originally we were thinking Mexico for our destination, but we felt our budget was out of control, not to mention the costs for our friends and family- I am thinking Sarasota area- where we took our first vacation and fell in love... I need some help with locations- I want the ceremony to be on the beach.... but accommodations, photographers (reasonable yet extraordinary) and the actuall beach- I need lots of suggestions! Thanks so much in advance!
  8. Hello- my name is Kirsten and I am in the preliminary stages of planning a March 2010 wedding- leaning towards the Bahia Akumal in Cancun, Mexico- I'm glad to have found this place to hear other's experiences planning and having a destination wedding! Thanks in advance for all your help... I know I'll have plenty of questions!
