  1. Lynnie, my MOH had a walk-out right near the gazebo and it was awesome, not a busy area at all, you will love it. Have fun!
  2. Oh, also none of the appointments for hair, nails or makeup that Angie was supposed to book for me were booked (surprise, surprise) So I would check with the spa as soon as you get there, we were able to make all the appointments except one, no problem. Also 2 of my bridesmaids ended up with the WORST hair styles ever, they looked like people from star trek, so hilarious, luckily my brother's GF is a hairdresser, she did my hair and fixed theirs. But 3 of my BM's had great hair. So make sure you bring lots of pics to be clear and if you have anyone that speaks spanish to translate that would definitely help!
  3. Hi Ladies, Back from our wedding, it was all wonderful in the end but I definitely had the Charlotte & Harry wedding from SATC (ie: the more things that go wrong the better the marriage) I did not have the "perfect" week that most brides describe on here but let me reiterate when you are walking down the aisle NONE of it matters so try not to stress like I did and just enjoy everything. Here is where we had issues (maybe you can learn from this: 1) didn't arrive before our 48 guests so we were trying to run around and get wedding stuff done and were constantly being stopped by our guests & having people calling our room wondering what the plans were, etc. (this got to be pretty frustrating after awhile!) 2) Weather, weather, damn the weather. We arrived the 24th & had a catamaran cruise planned for the 25th for our guests, it was cancelled due to rough seas so we were running around like chickens with our heads cut off trying to find something else for 50 people & it turns out the catmaran company tried to reach us the next morning to let us know we could do the cruise then but the hotel said we weren't staying there (WTF?) so the tour company sent a van anyways and I just got ahold of him when he was almost to our hotel and frantically told him I could not get all our 50 guests together in 10 min. to go on this boat cruise. We ended up paying for a private event rehearsal dinner for all our guests int the hotel garden instead, which was lovely. But my advice is have a backup plan ahead of time! By the way paradise catamarans is awesome if you are looking for a company, they refunded us every last cent no problem. 3) If you are doing a legal wedding make sure you bring you & your fiancee's passports & tourist cards to your first WC meeting plus your 4 witnesses & their passports & tourist cards (our WC did not tell us this and we had to spend half the day tracking down our witnesses for paperwork) that being said besides that annoyance it was super easy to get married legally down there if you have never been married before. 4)Wedding day weather: it was raining all morning but brightening up at times. Denys (our WC) called me at 1230pm pushing me to move our entire wedding inside (the whole thing was supposed to be on the beach), I begged her for more time as our ceremony wasn't until 6pm, reception at 8pm, she only gave me till' 130pm and then kinda forced me into moving it inside. But by 2pm it was PAINFULLY sunny outside, we were doing our pics and the whole time I was fuming that our wedding was going to be inside now. So my MOH spent an hour on the phone with Denys & the manger and they were wanting to charge us another $ 500 to move the wedding outside and then wanted us to sign a $2500 deposit in case of rain. It was so stressful & back & forth so I said just leave it inside but then changed my mind again (the whole point of getting married in Mexico was the beach!!) and decided to do the ceremony & cocktail hour outside and the reception inside. Right after we signed the deposit it started clouding over again and looked like t was going to rain. Long story short after alot of back & forth: we did the ceremony outside, beautiful and barefoot on the beach, it was AMAZING despite all the BS. We then rushed the guests inside (with the $2500 equipment) and had some cocktails in the lobby and then moved to the ballroom for the remainder of the cocktail hour & reception. Ladies, after all that it didn't even rain!!!! I recommend if you really want an outdoor wedding don't let them bully you into making up your mind so early. The food at the cocktail hour was pretty good, we just went with the included cold canapes. Reception food: We had the shrimp salad appy, so good! Also the princess cream soup was amazing. The seafood stuffed chicken was dry and not great & the cheesecake was ok. We had chocolate wedding cake with vanilla icing, very yummy! On top of those things that went wrong, we had a guest break her arm & require surgery the day before our wdding ( but she nade it for the big day!) my MOH ripped up my dress zipper too fast and my mom thought she was going to have to cut & resew it but after 20 min of adjusting we fixed it and I had a guest high on drugs & behaving inappropriately the whole time, also about 10 of our guests & my fiancee and I had stomach issues the day before and day of the wedding, I suggest ducoral(?) the people that had taken it didn't get sick. But despite all that it was truly amazing, if all this can go wrong and I can still have a great day, you ladies have nothing to worry about! Denys the WC did annoy me on the day with the weather issue but I understand where she was coming from & besides that she was great. She organized everyone on the day and did an amazing job setting up our decorations. The hotel is so beautiful and for the most part the staff & food was great. We upgraded to the presidential suite for our last 3 nights and it was definitely worth it! We also went to tulum for a honeymoon for 5 nights after our week at the Royal, which if you can afford to do I highly recommend, it was a tiring week and it was so nice to have some time alone. Hope that this doesn't scare anyone, in the end it all turned out beautifully and I wouldn't change a thing. Feel free to message me if you have any questions. I wish all of you the best, enjoy it, it goes by way too fast!
  4. Hey Ladies, I've been working out like crazy and eating pretty healthy but I want to lose a bit more fat & get my abs really lean for my wedding. I've got 32 days until we leave, anyone know of any good (& safe!) leaning out/cutting diets? Thanks!
  5. Hey Ladies, I haven't been on this site forever, just tried to read through all the posts that I've missed but there are so many! Only 4 weeks & 4 days until we leave, I can't believe we've been engaged for over a year and a half and now it's almost here! Anyhow, just wondering what are you all planning on tipping your WC, musicians, bartender & waiters for your wedding? On a side note, got our final bill back with wrong price (overcharged) and wedding date, the price has been fixed but date is still wrong on our bill, trying to be patient and not freak out here...
  6. Just heard about the beach thing, has anyone found out when the construction will be done? That SUCKS, the beautiful beach is one of the main reasons we choose these resorts. KENLYN 8984: congrats on booking your date! I think you can have more than one option but you need to know ahead of time what your guests want to eat and put it in your seating chart for the hotel. As for DJ, with the prices going up, we decided just to load our ipod as I was told the sound system is included for your entire wedding in the luxury package. The only downfall is that you only get 3 hours for reception in luxury package and they will take your musicd away after this time but I've heard with a DJ you can stay longer. Hope that helps!
  7. Hey ladies, I can't remember if Ive asked you all this before but I'm wondering if any of you got the group incentives included with your group (ie: on The Royal's website under "Groups" there are some free things that the co-ordinator of the group s supposed to get), like for booking more than 15 oceanview rooms you are supposed to get 7 nights free at the Royal and a free group appy & cocktails event. We have 50 people booked at The Royal already, all except 2 couples in oceanview, but when I asked Angie about this she said that because we booked through my TA these group rewards are not included. Does anyone know anything about this, is anyone getting any freebies? I feel like we're bringing them this much business we should get something, instead now I find out we're not even going to get the "upgrade" that is stated in the luxury package, very disappointed right now ((
  8. CELINE, Welcome! I also have 50-60 guests, the royal offers a discount but I actually got better pricing from my agent so do your homework on prices! As for a photographer, I'm bringing my own down but if you have an unlimited budget, there are lots of great photographers in Mexico such as Del Sol, Elizabeth Medina and many more. Congrats!
  9. Hey ladies! ARGHHHHH, the Royal screws with our heads and their pricing yet again! If my guests hadn't already put deposits down I might actually consider what JESMCAN is doing and look at changing resorts. But as I'm staying there, as everyone says, keep I will everything in writing and bring it down with me. It's just frustrating that we have to do this at all, the luxury package that I put a deposit down for cost $2400 US (at the time) and is now like $3200, things like this concern me as they could try and screw me over making me pay more. Now I'm all worked up! On another note about dresses, I ordered mine way back in June and I'm concerned that I'm not going to love it anymore, so don't pick your dress too early!
  10. Hi Ladies, It's been forever since I've checked in but it looks like everyone's planning is going smoothly (besides the lovely price increases!). We now have 52 people booked and still have 50 more that need to RSVP, so exciting! JESMCAN: If you still have the catamaran packages would you mind emailing them to me at k44@hotmail.com, enjoy your site visit, very, very jealous!!!!!!
  11. As for the 3 day guest pass thing, I asked Angie from Condoworld about it and she said she'd never heard of it? Did you all hear that from your WC or the hotel? I really hope I can get those for some of my guests! Are you all talking to an actual WC at The Royal or condoworld still? I asked Angie to transfer me over to my WC and she said I only get to start delaing with her a month before my wedding
