  1. We stayed at Mandalay Bay twice and loved it. I know someone who got married at Mandalay and they had a small group of people with them. For their reception. they rented a large suite and brought in their own food and had their reception up there. I did notice though that on a Saturday at Mandalay Bay, it was back to back weddings… multiple couples standing around outside waiting for their turn so another day might be better if you don’t want to be rushed like that. Mandalay Bay Chapel was very nice. The only other chapel that I've seen is person was at the Luxor and in person it looked like a funeral home. The lighting is set up so the focus is behind where the priest would stand and not on the couple. It was just weird. We've used Priceline many times when going to Vegas and have always got a great deal and never regretted it.
  2. I FED EX'ed my dress and his suit to Martinizing Dry Cleaners in Kaanapali which is really easy to get to if you are staying in Lahaina. I would suggest shipping it 2 weeks in advance so you dont have to pay to ship quickly. I didn't have to worry about packing and bring my dress in my luggage and it gave them plenty of time to have it steamed and ready when we got there. Although I had tracking on it, the people at the cleaners called me to let me know that they had received it (I didn't ask them to, so I thought that was nice).
  3. We originally went to a travel agent but we quickly learned that we could find cheaper prices on our own. After that we decided to let our guests book their own travel. I have a website so I suggested places to stay that were near us and in different price ranges. We had quite a few closer friends and family who were going to be leaving and coming back at the same time so we booked the airplane tickets for multiple people so that we could travel together and sit together and that was a lot of fun. If you do book travel for others, remember that if you dont buy the tickets as couples and do so as one big group that most airlines will make the whole group check in at once which wasn't really convenient.
  4. Video - Breaking News Videos from CNN.com This is a video I saw today on cnn. We had to check out of the house by noon and our plane left at 10pm so we rented a room at the Seaside hotel he is talking about and stored our groups luggage there while we did more sightseeing and were able to freshen up before we headed to the airport. It's not a nice hotel but it was great for what we needed it for. I also wanted to to mention that if you go to buy banana bread, the girls at Julia's were a little rude and they were out of bread. So we continued on to Lorraine's Shaved Ice were they also sell banana bread (ice cream sandwiches made with banana bread, and jellies and stuff. I found this youtube clip someone posted of her. She was great! When we go back, we will make a special trip just to go to Lorraine's. YouTube - Lorraines Shaved Ice, Maui Incase someone is reading this later and the video isn't available, they mention the website vrbo.com and that is a good website if you are wanting to rent a house or condo.
  5. Not sure if this is an option for you but we rented a house with 3 other couples. It was super nice (ocean view, pool, hot tub, etc) and was like being at a resort but was more affordable since we could split the price up. We ate out a lot but it was nice to be able to cook breakfast and have snacks (an alcohol) at the house. After an unsuccessful deep sea fishing trip, we went and bought a bunch of a fish and cooked ourselves. It was really nice because we were able to have people over who weren't staying with us. We looked into having a chef come in and cook a meal but it was pricey. I was a little worried beforehand about people being left out of activities if we rented a house and didn't stay at a resort that other could choose to stay at, but it actually worked out well because if people wanted to do activities with us then the house served as a meeting place. A lot of these luxury kind of houses also double as wedding venues so you might want to look into that. Not sure how many guests you are having. We had our wedding and reception at another location but we only had 14 guests so if we wanted to have it at the house, it would've worked. If you do look into something like this, I would try to negotiate the price. I can't remember how much we saved but my husband saved us a good amount by negotiating. Do you know what part of Maui you are wanting to stay in? We were in the Lahaina area.
  6. Hi! The lady isn't explaining it to you correctly (or probably doesn't know herself). 24 karat gold is naturally a mustard yellow color. What you see in stores is usually 18kt (which is 75% gold, 25% another alloy), 14kt (58% gold) or 10kt (41% gold). Natural gold is soft so it is mixed with other alloys to make it more durable. You get white gold when they mix gold with alloys that will make it turn white. Most of the white gold jewelry that you see in the stores has a rhodium plate on it to give it a whiter appearance (lots of silver is also sold with a plate over it to give it a shinier look). With time the plate will wear off and expose the metal beneath which in a lot of cases (not not always) will have a yellowish tint to it. You white gold will never look at yellow as a yellow gold ring but you will notice that slight yellow tint. On my ring I only really notice it around the bottom where it probably gets dinged more.
  7. I didn't see the post aboue Zazzle until today How did you find out about the Zazzle coupon code? Do they have a mailing list?
  8. This is a great map. I had someone at work tell me about it and I had Air Maui mail me one. I wish I would've thought to get one for my guests!
  9. I was married in Maui on October 18, 2009 and I got my license last Friday. I didn't fill out a rush or anything. I thought this might be helpful if anyone is curious what the current timeline is.

  11. COUPONS > COUPON CODES > Coupon Craze, Free Store Coupons, Coupon Codes, Discount Coupon Code Has a lot of coupons codes. I found some for Vistaprint on here that I thought would be really handy for some of you.
  12. I found where I could buy an arcade pass (and I did) thinking this would put the arcade in one of the drop down menus but still cant find it. Any ideas how to get to the arcade?
  13. I haven't played the arcade in a while and now I cant find it. Did it move again?
  14. It took a few months to get mine. I really like the image but it is definitely photoshopped. It is the same base picture that the other girls have and the text is more upright, like its not consistent with the angle the sand is laying at. Also if you have a letter used more than once, it is exactly the same which would be really hard to do writing in the sand. Again, I really like mine but I know it is not the real thing. Here is a tutorial I found online that might be able to help some people who want to try to do it themself or maybe just try to find someone you know who can do photoshop well. Write Message In Sand
  15. This is how our timeline should go. Guest arrive starting at 6pm. Since we were married in Hawaii, we hired some hula dancers to perform while people are eating and mingling from 615 to 645. At 645 we will cut the cake and play the video or our trip to Hawaii. The DJ will start at 7. We aren't going to have any toasts or first dances.
