  1. i will go with the hotel's cake. although my fiance is from the south and expressed how he HAS to have a southern style cake. as long as it tastes good and is simply pretty, i'm good. for favors i've decided to go with the traditional black cake, as i'm jamaican. how about you?
  2. hi claudette: i decided to go with micheal saab for the photography. his work is really great!

  7. woohoo!!! i'm now officially a solis bride. may 09!!! now i have to design my invites. (i'm my own worst critic ; )
  8. i'm not sure yet (if i want the gazebo or the beach or something else). i would like to go down there and take a look before i decide.
  9. congrats mabride09! have you visited the resort? do you chose the gazebo or the beach for your ceremony! must be exciting!
  10. that is awesome! i plan on going there next month and wanted to get a tour. when i go i'll take plenty of photos to and share them here.
  11. hi amee: have you heard anything new about the resort? will it be ready for your april wedding? i was thinking of getting married there in may/june. it looks so beautiful (at least from the renderings). hope everything works out.
  12. do you know how much it is per person for the reception dinner?
  13. that's great that it works out $1000 less! what is considered semi-private at the grand palladium?
  14. does anyone know if the poseidon is considered the beach restaurant?
  15. congrats! hopefully i too will have a place soon.
  16. thanks maureen! do you know if they only serve italian/fusion cuisine? i was hoping to have a jamaican menu.
  17. hello JA brides! i'm on a mission! i'm trying to find the best deal out there in regards to feeding my guests for the dinner reception. i'm interested in solis, palladium, rose hall and royal plantation. i believe they're priced at $80 and up pp (please correct me if i'm wrong). is riu the only (or best) local where i can get a bang for my buck? can i get anything yummy in a beautiful resort for $50 of less pp (or close to it)? alas, i might have a cocktail reception in lieu of the dinner. suggestions, ideas, comments....all welcome.
  18. does anyone know how much it is per person for a reception dinner at moon dance cliffs?
  19. thanks petals for the info! the grand palladium is one of my top three. i'm looking forward to seeing it in person. did you find the resort overwhelming in size?
  20. thanks everyone for your suggestions and warm wishes. i'm so excited and we're planning a trip down there next month! hopefully i'll come back with a location.
  21. hello everyone: i'm completely new to posting here, but as i have been reading the different threads, i have learned so much. now i'm just torn between the following jamaica resorts to have my may 09 wedding. the riu seems the most affordable and i was considering the new montego bay resort (just not sure how low the planes are in that area and if it would take away from enjoying the beach). i also like the grand palladium (another new resort), but question if the price per plate is worth it (although i love the blue lagoon to have a reception there as seen in another thread). also considering the solis. i just don't know. i want our wedding to be of course beautiful, chic and affordable for 40-50 guests. i guess i just need to plan a trip down there. suggestions greatly appreciated. thanks, mlk
