We are getting married legally about a month before we leave for DR. It saves us about $1000 on the minister/judge, translation services etc.. and saves us the headache. Everyone that is attending knows that we are doing this.. we were very honest. We told everyone that we are just signing legal papers in the US. We explained what a troublesome process it was and assured everyone that we were just signing papers in the US. Our REAL wedding in our minds with be in DR; where we will exchange rings, vows and commit ourselves to eachother. Noone has given us a hard time about it or questioned it at all.

I am planning on having the resorts spa do my hair and makeup. That being said, I will probably also go to a makeup counter (e.g MAC or something like that) with either my MOH or one of my BM's to get my makeup done and buy a few things. That way, if I am not completely satisfied with what the resort does; I have a backup option and someone who was there when I had a trial who can help me.

I agree, I think that there are multiple threads on this subject on this forum. If memory serves, a lot of people either use Snapfish or Shutterfly.

I think that a lot of FI's are like that... Be honest with him and tell him how important it is to you that you have some of the traditional 'trimmings' of a wedding included in your DW. In my situation, I didn't want anything overly formal but did want some of the traditional stuff and FI didn't want any of it. So we compromised ... I get the photographer I wanted; STD's; invitations; and a one hour cocktail hour on the beach. Then we do an informal dinner (included in our AI) with tables reserved at the restaurant; go to the resort disco to party; have no flowers; formal reception; programs or favors.

Oh how wonderful!!! It sounds like you have amazing fam and friends to do all that for you. =) Can't wait to see pics!

I agree with everyone else that #1 is my pick.. it fits you well and is very pretty!

I think that you are fine; if you really want to do something special for your guests then as Fanny said; maybe do an excursion or something. We are having ours at an AI within a similar price range. We aren't even having a formal reception bc I just cant justify paying extra for food at an AI resort. We are just having tables reserved at one of the restaurants on the resort. We may do a cocktail hour on the beach that is private which our resort charges around $100 for... but that's it. IMHO, you are fine .. I think it would get tricky if you start paying people back for the day.

I agree with the others; I like the white flower with the first veil.

I don't know what you mean either... I have FI's grandmother's engagement ring which is VERY vintage looking and I am using a ring that my grandmother wore which is a vintage looking etched thick band.
