  1. Thanks for all the great ideas! You all have inspired me to start thinking about what I want to do.... Off to Michaels...........
  2. they look great! Super job! Now you all have me thinking about this!!! The more I cruise this forum the more things I keep thiniking about!!!! I guess I'll add it to the list! My brain is working a mile a minute and my wedding isnt until July 09! Whats wrong with me!
  3. I actually have an answer because I asked the same question. It wont have an impact on passport and travel stuff as long as you dont change your name or anything like that. Im going to do the legal day a couple days before I leave for cabo, so I wouldnt have time to do name change and stuff even if I wanted to. Do the legal stuff, go away like normal, then do all the name change stuff when you return. (I hear it takes time and energy anyway)
  4. I am wearing a veil, but I also want some sort of hairpiece for after the ceremony. Does anyone know a place to get like a silver antique type of hair clip? I love how it looks, I just havent found anything I like yet.
  5. Here they are. I am going to do this blue.. Its called ice blue. (I finally figured out how to post pictures!!!)
  6. welcome to the forum! I am a Dreams bride too, so I think I am biased. PLanning so far has been a lot of fun, and pretty easy thanks to everyone in this forum. Have fun!
  7. Another suggestion since they are not putting in any money is to have you and your FI decide how many people his parents can invite. Be reasonable of course, but set a limit that you are comfortable with. Ettiquite (spelling on that is so wrong) says that they should pay for every person they exceed. Like, my parents kept it around 60, my FI and I invited 100 and his parents got about 60. His parents said that they'd pay for any people after their amount. Luckily for me everything is working out, and that isnt an issue. Good luck!
  8. That is hilarious! It is amazing what goes through the mind of a man. We are definately wired differently. Sometimes I just cant figure them out!
  9. Wow! Thats a lot of people! I was just doing my guest list for the party at home and we have 240. I was getting nervous about that! I know you dont want to hear this, but you just made me feel so much better. Sorry. I think its such a hard thing because you want everyone to have a good time and have who they want there, but on the other hand these partys cost $$$, A LOT of $$$. I just went through mine, and as bad as it sounds I took some people off and kind of made a "B list" ( i hope I dont sound too rude) If people RSVP that they wont be there, then Ill begin to send out the B list invites. I want to keep it around 200 (praying for less), but at this rate I might have to pray harder!
  10. Thanks for everyones thoughts! It was actually really helpful. I finally made the decision to do the legal stuff her in NY before we go to Cabo. It does seem a lot easier. Thanks again everyone!
  11. OK, so how good is the ipod equipment that you can rent from dreams? I still cant decide between ipod and dj, and I just wanted more input on the ipod situation. Is it annoying to have someone keep track of the ipod? I guess a friend or family member just did it? Was it loud enough? How much is the rental, and what do you get? (wow I am rambling questions...sorry)
  12. thanks for the info! I am feeling better about it and my fiance thinks it will be soooo much easier for mexico. I guess I just have to do whatever makes me feel content about it all. I think my pajama idea might work...just kidding (maybe?) I love the idea of mexican foos after...any excuse for nachos and margaritas!
  13. We're July 10, 2009 at Dreams Los cabos. I also got engaged in December, but have only been really planning for a couple weeks. Im finding out so many things I need to do, that I never would have thought of. OOps! Good thing you only do this once!
  14. Hello everyone! I know a lot of people say it is easier to get married legally in the US at the courts by a JP. The more I read, the more I agree (don't tell my fiance...he's been saying it the whole time. I hate when he's right ) My question to those of you who have done it...Is is possible to go the courts and not do vows, just do the paperwork. I know I sound crazy, but if I agree to do it before hand I don't want to make a big deal out of it, so it doesn't "feel real" (do I make sense yet? haha ) I told me fiance the only way I'll agree is if we DO NOT get dressed up, go down, sign some papers, and thats it. I want Cabo to feel like my wedding day. I know it sounds stupid! When you go to the JP, do you have to do vows and stuff? I'll wear pajamas if I have to just so it doesnt feel like we're getting married. Why am I so freaked out about this?
  15. I have been reading a lot about receptions and music. I see some people got a DJ and others have just rented equipment and used their ipod. Im a little torn between what to do. The ipod seems like a good idea, becuase I can have it all prepared before hand. ipod - What kind of equipment do they rent out? Who is in charge of the music for the first dance, father/bride, and mother/groom dance? How good is the equipment DJ. - about how much is it? Is it worth it? who do you reccomend? I need feeddback please! I just don't know what to do.
  16. ok...I think I am confused (I know I am confused) I plan on doing both in Cabo. (legal and symbolic) Is it still 2 seperate ceremonies? If so, when is the legal one done and when is the symbolic one done. My date is July 10, 2009. I thought I had to do all the blood stuff and paperwork a few days before, then have just a regular ceremony with vows and normal stuff like in the states, you sign the papers and boom..I'm married! I guess I have NO IDEA! HELP!
  17. Welcome! I just joined the other day and already got a lot of info. I am doing Dreams Cabo in July 09. Have fun!
  18. What about pictures Kristen your pictures are beautiful! Did you use the person from dreams or an outside photographer?
  19. I love #2, but I can't tell how big they are from the picture. I had a friend that got married a couple years ago and her earrings were long and wide. It kind of took away from everything else. So, because of that I pick #3.
  20. Another thing I have been wondering.... I see a lot of people are bringing in outside vendors for pics, flowers, cake, etc. I planned on getting the Dreams ultimate package. It seems that most things are included already. Is this a good idea? Now I am getting nervous. Also, the Ultimate package says 20 people. I am having somewhere between 30-40. How does it work regarding people after 20? Do I pay per person?
  21. I keep hearing such great things abour Mariana. I'm sure I will hear from her soon. We so far have 2 suites and 10 rooms blocked. Im so excited. My fiance keeps making fun of me because I am constantly on this website now.
  22. I am wearing my dress! I am getting a more comfortable "party dress" to wear later in the night at the DW, and so I figure I might wear both again. To my reception here at home I'll wear my gown, then change later in the night. It's best of both worlds! (and how many people get to wear the wedding dress twice!)
  23. WOW!! Jpitts78 you are amazing! That is a lot of info (that I needed)! I just read it like 3 times. Not sure if I was more overwhelmed before or now! I have to admit I really want to do it all there, but that sounds very annoying, scary, overwhelming, ________ (fill in the blank with any word you choose)! Hmmmm...that's a lot to think about. My fiance kind of wanted to get it overwith here in NY first and just do a symbolic ceremony. I keep saying no, but I am thinking he mightbe right. (Of course I won't tell him that ..lol) Thanks for your help!
