Due to the recent news about the Swine Flu, some of our Mexican brides are canceling or moving their destination weddings to a different location. For those entertaining the Dominican as a possibility. I would like to extend this invitation for your consideration. My parents (Les & Lynda Lehmann) have been living and operating a small resort in Cabarete for the past few years. They are offering their small and private resort as an alternative to anybody wishing to hold their wedding there! For the price (and quite possible less money!) of their group of rooms in Mexico they are offering a private resort in Cabarete. Cabarete, is on the north shore of the Dominican Republic, 20km east of the Puerto Plata international airport(airport code POP). A popular wedding destination, honeymooners come for the wonderful Caribbean weather and ambiance. So do families, couples, and singles of all ages, looking the sun, sand, + surf of a perfect beach vacation. What you would get? A private resort TOTALLY to themselves!!! Perfect size for a private party of 12 - 24, and can entertain a fantastic wedding in elegant style. You can still have your fabulous destination wedding, and possibly even save a few bucks. It depends on what you mean for outdoor reception. Most resorts offer a open air restaurant that you can book on the beach. They also setup tables on the beach at the resorts. I have seen basic dance floors and I know the Princess has a lighted dance floor that is really neat. Catalonia, Dreams, Princess, El Dorado, The Royal ... the list is quit long, but they all offer something.

Hello to Mayan Brides. I wanted to address you directly as we have been dealing with the Swine Flu panic for the past couple of days. This situation is very distressing for everybody. Lori and I have talked extensively about how to handle this situation. We have decided to only offer refunds to those brides who can not make it because they have no choice. At this time, we are going to wait for more information to surface about what is going on. If the World Health Association decides there is a problem and grounds your flights, we will refund your money at that time. If they do not consider Mexico to be a threat and allow people to fly here, we will not be issuing a refund if you decide not to come. As it stands for Lori and I at this time, we have lost our business temporarily. If it goes any further, we may not be able to live and operate from Mexico any longer and lose our business here permanently. This is the only fair solution at this time considering we are losing everything we have worked to build here. Lincoln & Lori

Congratulations Michelle and welcome to the forums! The Royal is a beautiful resort... you will love it. As for the flu here... it has really not been reported in this area and seems to be in a dense populations. Nothing will really make you or your guests feel better. Stay clean and take the normal preventative measures you normally would. This is something you can not control and I really don't think is as bad as the media machine is making it. Im not saying its nothing... but the media has a way of putting a spin on anything and loves to the keep the population at a state of panic. Best of luck
