  2. Hello all.... So we are flying to Mayan Riviera on January 3, 2009 and getting hitched on January 8, 2009 at El Dorado Seaside Suites. Here is where we are at: - Dress is ordered and should be here end of August, early September. - FH has everything picked out for him and his boys, just waiting for financial end to allow him to buy it. - We have all our extras chosen for the wedding (e.g. bouquets, bouts, decorations, private dinner meal, private reception details, spa appointments), have our total amount due worked out, will be paying for it within the next month. - Wedding bands will be ordered shortly... still trying to convince him that I need a custom ring made (engagement ring was custom so it is very difficult to find anything that goes with it). - Photographer will be travelling for free as we have 38 people booked and every 16th person is free, and she isn't charging anything extra as she is a friend of ours. - Shoes and jewellery have been chosen, just need to be bought (no rush). - Hair -- no idea!! I am growing it so I will have to see where I am at in December to decide what I can do with it. - Bridesmaid dresses have been ordered and should be here around the same time as my dress. That is about it!! We are sitting pretty now til January... and it's true... once my dress and bridesmaid dresses start coming in, it will be the fall, then my shower (MOH is throwing one - even though I don't think I need one) and bachelor/bachelorette parties... Christmas... then wedding!! I am glad to see I am on par with everyone else... you ladies are great!! This forum is a saviour!
  3. Hey.... I know what you mean... Our trip from Toronto is $1577 per person plus taxes, so just over $1800 per person for 7 days. I didn't think that was much as I have paid that (or close to that) for almost all the trips I have been on. We got a couple comments here and there about the price, but we have 38 people booked so those who truly wanted to come, are coming. If they want it to be cheaper, they can stay at a 2 star resort and get a day pass... sorry if I am being rude, but its true!!!
  4. Hello all... We have a bulldog and chihuahua... so complete opposites. The bulldog has a lot of allergies so we had tried him on lots of different foods and kept running into problems. We now have them on the 'raw' diet and they both absolutely LOVE it. The chihuahua used to pick away at his bowl of food throughout the day, sometimes resulting in me hand-feeding him to ensure he got all his food done.... he now scarfs down his entire bowl in about 10 seconds, sometimes less. It is called 'Urban Wolf' and it is a powder that you mix in with whatever kind of meat (we use lean ground beef) and some oils... you can cook it or just give it to them as is. They have never looked so healthy or been so happy to eat!! Good luck!
  5. Hey LC_ Rachel... I would LOVE to share it with you except my fiancee is also on here, I swear just to see what I say... haha. But then he would see it. Maybe I will PM it to you... we will see if that works. Then once you see that, you can maybe give me some ideas... as it is a 'classy' dress so I can't show up with my hair looking like I just rolled out of bed.
  6. Kelly C.... How long have you been growing your hair?? And how short was it when you started? Good luck!
  7. Hey. I went to Hawaii with a friend a couple years ago, and trust me, search we did and there are NO all inclusive resorts. One price you will have to pay to go to Hawaii. Remember, it is part of the U.S. so like Florida or anywhere else in the States, no all-inclusive. It is very expensive as you have to pay for everything and while at an AI resort in the Caribbean it doesn't matter who all comes because food and drinks are free, if you go to Hawaii, you will have to pay for their meals and drinks. My FH and I wanted Hawaii so bad but it just wasn't in the budget. Good luck!!
  8. Yeah I hear you!! Thank god this site isn't blocked, you know it's bad when you start having dreams about Spider Solitaire because you play it so much!! I agree, I like the second one.. it's messy but looks good. I am getting a couple of flowers, not just one, so I think it would look good. Ah well... we shall see how it all pans out. I will keep checking the celebrity updo pages and see what the newest fad is around the time of the wedding. Thanks!! Have a great BBQ this weekend... we are having a yard sale to get rid of some of our crap and hopefully make some cash. Enjoy!
  9. Thank god someone else is as bored as I am and is on here now... it is such a pleasure talking about 'girly' stuff!!! I was thinking something along these lines: http://fashiondevo.files.wordpress.c...7/06/wavy1.jpg But I would really like it back... off my neck... so if extensions could help me out, I would love something like this: http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q...R-updo5000.jpg or http://www.velvetgarden.net/images/p...0071220-16.jpg Haha... that last one was a joke. Just kidding. This one is nice too... I don't think it would be too hard if I had extensions. http://justmauied.com/flower1.gif Anyway... let me know what you think!! Sorry if the links don't work... still a rookie at this
  10. Hi Guys!! Thank you so much for all your input, you guys are awesome!! I am thinking that something with some curl in the style would be good because if it is humid, my hair goes a bit wavy so if you can't beat it, might as well join it, right?? Rather than trying to get it perfectly straight and then worry if it looks like SH*T all day, I can just start with it wavy. Right now my hair is in two layers... I have a shorter layer on top that comes down to about the top of my ears... then the longer layer underneath is at my jawline. I would like to get it all one length, rather than this overgrown mullet and yeah, I was thinking about extensions. I know there are many different kinds of extensions, which kind is the best?? Like if I was to get extensions right before I leave, what would hold up best for the 5 days there until the wedding?! Thanks!!
  11. Hello.... I am looking for ideas. Like most other brides, I have decided to grow out my hair as much as possible for the wedding. It used to be pretty short (almost pixie-ish) and is now a really ugly, shaggy, bob but it is slowly getting there!! I have 6 months til the wedding and have started to try to find some pictures of a style I can aim for. I am not having a veil or tiara but just a flower. I am hoping to have a short bob, all one length by the wedding date... similar to Katie Holmes style (but not the same bangs)... any ideas of what I could do?? Or have any pictures you can share? Any ideas would be great... I don't want to wear it just down but not sure what other options I have. Thanks everyone!!
  12. I don't think there are any rules written in stone... I had the same mentality as most of you where if people didn't want to cough up the money to come and see us get married, then too bad for them. However, my grandparents are not able to come to Mexico due to health issues which made having a destination wedding a really tough decision. So we are going to have an AHR 5 months later, when the weather gets a bit nicer, basically for my grandparents. I will wear my dress again, we will show pictures and videos from the trip. I am even thinking of doing a little vow renewal ceremony for them to see. So, it is completely up to you... it isn't expected by any means but if there are some special people that are going to be left behind, then you may feel compelled to do one like I do. Good luck!
  13. I would have to agree with the fact that your first step should be to talk to a TA. That was the first thing we did and it has been smooth sailing since then! You can give your ideal budget and then (as long as you have a good one), your TA should be able to find you something in your price range. Once you get some names of resorts, check out their websites and see what they offer for wedding packages and depending on what you want for your big day, that will probably be your deciding factor!! If you have any questions... this is the place to ask them. Congratulations and good luck!!
