  1. Ok girls, I am very confused about something. I know we have talked about reception locations and music in the past but I still just don't get it. The wedding guide (2009) says that you don't have to pay the private event fee for the dreams of love or ultimate packages for outside locations. I assumed this included the terrace of el patio, pool side, etc. If you are interested in the terrace of the restaurant and not inside the restaraunt, does the 70% occupancy requirement apply? I asked Anabel about the terrace of el patio and she said that it did which is not what I understood. Furthermore, one of my e-mails that Lizet sent (I think), states that music is only allowed at private events or in the ballroom. So if I have my reception on the terrace or poolside I can't have music without paying $750 for the private event fee? Someone else also mentioned about the speaker. I too was not under the impression that you had to pay $150 for the speaker system for the wedding plus an additional $150 for the reception. It seems to me that Dreams is really trying to "milk" us for our money. $200 is ridiculous for tulle. I mean what the hell? Is this right? Can someone totally clarify this for me please?
  2. Hi Girls!!!! I have been on but haven't posted in a while. Congrats to Lulu! I just found out that I will be having an unexpected guest at the wedding. We just found out we're pregnant, so I guess I will have a (little or mabe rather large) baby bump in my wedding dress!
  3. Congratulations Tracy!! Your pics turned out really well, and makes me feel so much better about using the resort photographer. I don't know if they have the same one all of the time or if there are different ones. Do you remember the guy's name that took your pics?
  4. Amy706, Your pics are awesome!!!! I really felt like I was there just by looking at your pics. You looked beautiful in the non-pro pics, but they just really didn't do any justice to how gorgeous you actually were. It looked like you guys were really having a good time. I can just hope and pray that my day is as special as yours seemed to have been. Ashley
  5. Congratulations Neen! You looked beautiful and I'm very excited everything turned out wonderfully for you. Thank you so much for taking the time out while you are on your honeymoon to give us bits and pieces of your experience. You know we were sitting on the edge of our seats waiting to hear from you. Have a fabulous time, and I can't wait to see more pics.
  6. Thank you ladies. I will definitely try the tissue paper and bubble wrap.
  7. Have a good time Neen!!! Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back. Don't forget about us when you get back. You know how we live to read another review. God Bless!! Ashley
  8. For all of the brides who transported silk bouquets on the plane with them, how did you pack them to keep them from getting smashed? I am taking all of my flowers (bouquets, petals, decorative) with me and I'm really worried about how to pack them. If you have any suggestions on how you transported all of your decorations, please let me know. Thanks in advance.
  9. Congratulations Neen!!!!! I am so excited for you. It seems like it was forever ago when your ticker said 8 months, 6 months, etc. and now you're legally a Mrs. WOW!!!! Is it getting harder to sleep at night because you are so anxious about the upcoming weeks? I can't wait to see your planning thread, your review and pics. I just know everything is going to be awesome. Remember to take some time to yourself in the midst of all the chaos, cherish every single moment. Happy packing! Ashley
  10. Oh My God Laura!!!! That was so wonderful in so many ways that I can't begin to tell you. I felt like I was at the movie theatre watching a real movie!! Congratuluations, and what a blessing to have something so awesome to cherish for the rest of your lives. I can't wait to see more of everything. By the way, love the purple (my favorite color). Did I miss seeing your review somewhere?
  11. Callie, You looked beautiful, and your pics turned out quite well. I was very hesitant about using the resort photographer but I think he did a decent job. I'm sure they have more than one photographer, so do you remember the name of the guy you had?
  12. Girls, I forgot to ask..... Can somebody donate me some points please? I never had that many to begin with and I've practically used them all up. I want to download a couple of templates for programs that I saw or would like to see in the wedding journal thread. Thanks!!!
  13. Beth, Thank you for everything. Hope you are having a good time. Is it just my family, or is anybody else getting flack from their families regarding recent reports of violence in Mexioc, and more recently the Yucatan? My family is really starting to stress me out about this. So much so, they are encouraging us to find a new location. I've put way too much time and effort into this. Besides, at this late a date, what would be available. Does anyone have any information that could help ease my families' minds and mine as well before I pull my hair out?
  14. I am a little preturbed girls!!! I got an e-mail from Natalia answering some questions I had sent Landy like a month ago. Natalia informed me that there will be three weddings on my day. WTF!! I thought there were only 2 weddings per day. Additionally 2 of BMs canceled. One can't even go to the wedding at all any more and another is going but is not going to be able to be in the wedding. On top of that, on of FIs GM canceled too.

We definitely have the same dresses. My color is called tangerine, but it looks more like coral. I'm going to have the dresses shortened to right above their knees though.
  16. Thanks Karla, I will check into Marshalls as well. Amy, I think we have the same bridesmaid dresses. Is that a Jasmine?
  17. Congratulations Niels408!! I am glad everything went well and can't wait to read your review.

Did you carry on your dress? How many suitcases did you end up taking? Was there an additional charge? Ashley
  19. Amy, I have been waiting so patiently for your review and pics, and you definitely didn't disappoint! You looked stunning, and everything seemed to be very elegant and pretty. Thank you for such a very detailed review. I want more pics!!!! Especially of your beach set-up. I think I'm doing a combination of everybody's set-up for my own. I'm so excited everything turned out wonderfully, especially post DT closure. I'm sure it was exciting to have such a big group to celebrate with, and it also seems like you planned a lot of fun adventures for everyone. You mentioned that you led the rehearsal. Did you write your own ceremony? Who was the officiant? Were you impressed with him/her? Who did you use for a DJ? If it was the resorts DJ, do you have any suggestions?
  20. Karla, Congratulations on your wedding! Despite all of the things that you weren't exactly thrilled about, everything looked beautiful. Including you! I too, appreciate the very honest review. I would love to see more pics from the resort photographer because I am using him as well. I am also wondering if you minded putting together a list of questions you think we should definitely remember to ask Landy (i.e the week before during the over the phone conversation, and once there in person)? Thanks again for such a great review. Oh, and one more thing. You mentioned that fire dancers were part of the entertainment during the week. Did you think it was okay having them for the reception even though they had performed during the week?
  21. Congratulations!!! Everything from your dress to your reception was absolutely gorgeous. I only wish everything will be so beautiful for mine. BTW, I love Cicilia Dumas! She does awesome work. I really wanted her for my wedding, but I can't afford her. Lucky you!!!!
  22. Latasha, Thanks for the great review. I can't wait to see your pics, especially to see your hair. Being African American myself, I must admit that I too am worried about how my hair is going to turn out. I am using my cousin as a "just in case" to do my hair at my wedding. I'm glad everything turned out wonderfully. Congratulations!

I met with Karla (Cant Wait) a couple days before my wedding and after hers and she gave me some great tips. THANK YOU KARLA as always! I think I lucked out b/c the other dec 5th wedding cancelled so I got the day to myself. And I brought all kinds of stuff down and landy set everything up perfectly. it looked incredible and everything ran better than i could have dreamed. only hiccup was that they recently had to change fire dancer vendors so instead of 200 bucks for 20 minutes it was 400 bucks But they were great. we surprised the guests and they LOVED it. Still worth it even though it was a lot more money. Jennifer, the spa concierge, is AMAZING. she helped us with getting tequila, cigars for our tasting we did and she did a tequila history for us that we werent planning on doing. the guests LOVED it. and we went through 4 bottles of really good tequila in about 30 minutes. frightening! I surprised my new hubby with singing him a song. everyone died b/c nobody new i could sing. i cant really but it was just a song i knew i could hit each note- something to talk about, bonnie rait. i gave it a nice set up b/c mike and i met at work. it was pretty funny. anyway more later with pics and super long review but i cannot speak more highly of landy, carlos (DJ mannia), jennifer the spa concierge, carlos the spa manager, Luis one of the concierges, the pool entertainment staff (oscar, jamie). the food all week was incredible. even my dad and step mom who are kind of snobs thought it was awesome. we did the buffet for the wedding (we had 70 people) and it was INCREDIBLE. everyone loved it. the set up was gorgeous. beautiful carvings. oh and i was nervous about the flowers b/c i wanted tropical flowers and they did an AWESOME job. I loved loved loved my flowers. Oh my I cant wait to see pictures let alone post them and send you all a review. Mike and I are now at the mezzanine - a small boutique hotel in tulum. I must recommend to all brides who are yet to get married at DT. book a room at one of these cute eco-hotels in Tulum. and i highly recommend the mezzanine!!! The beaches here are GORGEOUS (much prettier than at DT). Its tiny boutique eco-chic hotels and bungalows. beaches are not crowded at all. you can walk and see the ruins from the beach. its a TOTALLY different experience from DT and a perfect way to relax for a couple of days after spending nearly a week with friends and family at the big all inclusive. oh and post opening, DT is even better! they have beeen busy planting tons of new flowers and plants everywhere. the property looks great! as you can tell i cant say enough and i will write tons more when i'm settled in at home! I'm so excited for all of you to follow!!! I have no doubts it will all be perfect! Amy I'm so excited everything was wonderful. I can just "hear the excitement" exuding from you just reading your post. Please remember to write down all of the tips Karla told you about so that we can include those as well. Thanks for the heads up regarding the fire dancers too. I can't wait to see your pics and read your review. LOL
  24. Hey Beth, I'm so excited that you finally got a response back. I am so confused though because is Anabel taking Lisette's place? If I have it all straight, Anabel used to be at DPA or DC and Lisette was at DT. I read on here somewhere that Lisette was now at DPA or DC. Did they switch? What happened to Landy is she still going to be our coordinator? Anyway I would love for you to ask about locations for the ceremony. I really would like it on the beach, but I think I'm going to feel a bit awkward having it with people tanning in chairs right next to my wedding. Would you please ask: 1) if we are able to move the arbor/gazebo a little farther down the beach where everyone says it is secluded? 2) who performs symbolic weddings. Is it still a minister or is it her? 3) how much the photographer charges for extra time? And if you are able would you look at some of his work and tell me what you think? 4) how much are the fire dancers? 5) let me know what you think of the banquet center and the ballrooms? 6) If we can completely design our own ceremony entirely (i.e. the words that are said by the minister and the order) Thank you so much. By the way what are your colors and what are you doing for centerpieces?
