  1. We used Wright Travel Agency who was able to match prices several of the guests found on travelocity. I believe per person it was around $1200 for Wed thru Sun. I would probably not book rooms if I had it to do over again, because even though we had a block, our guests were spread out all over the resort depending on what times they arrived and we ended up doing the wedding ceremony a la carte.
  2. Yarai...4:30 which was perfect Double check on two weddings on one day though because that was definitely a problem and is clearly posted on their wedding FAQs that this shouldn't happen.
  3. Parts of this review may sound negative but we really enjoyed our wedding. UPS HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!! The Mohundros will not be shipping using "Brown" in the future. Our box containing our welcome bags, my something blue, flower girl basket, personalized cups, etc (valued at $400) which we sent 3 weeks early never made it to Mexico or back to us. It was held up in customs and UPS promised to ship it back to us before we left (they had 2 weeks to do this). Instead it got lost an now UPS nor us no where the box is. If I had it to do over again, I’d pay the extra luggage and carry everything with us or pay the really expensive carrier folks. Travel Theresa Stauring & Wright Travel Theresa was very helpful with getting the guests booked at dreams…and calling to remind us that we needed to pay when we thought we had already faxed in the credit card form. She took care of the transfers from and to the airport with Epic. She was helpful when we didn’t fulfill all of our rooms and accommodates guests finding better deals elsewhere. Epic The transfers went smooth for everyone. Michael and I were pleasantly surprised when we were whisked away from our guests to be transported in our own private shuttle. Dreams Resort Overall we really enjoyed the resort and despite having some bad experiences would recommend the resort for weddings and would stay there again. Greeting on Arrival Fantastic! Met by staff with champagne while we checked in. Rooms Honeymoon suite was beautiful and very spacious. The full size refrigerator was wonderful, but the minibar didn’t keep drinks real cool. The room was very hot upon arrival but eventually cooled down. The room was decorated very nicely for us during the reception; however, the air was also turned off so we walked into a romantic but sweltering hot room. Restaurants The food was better tasting than we had expected after reading many reviews on the topic. We loved breakfast at El Patio and ate there every day. The service in the restaurants was not great, especially at the Asian restaurant where our guests sat at a table for 2 hours without receiving their food and one guest had to wait over an hour for the coke she requested. All of our very unhappy guests eventually left without dinner and ordered room service. We spoke to the manager on site at the time but only received an “I’m sorry†in return. Bars The swim up bar was fabulous. All of the bartenders were wonderful. Our biggest complaint is the lobby bar states it is open until 11; however, we arrived at 10:30 one evening and all the lights were already out and they weren’t serving drinks. Hair and Make-up Suzanne Morel Face and Body Care Suzanne Morel Face and Body Care Fantastic, wonderful, amazing!! The cost for the hair and make-up was pricey but worth every penny. Suzanne stayed in constant contact throughout the planning stages which was very comforting. We had to travel to the salon for the hair and make-up trial…I didn’t really want to go with all of our guests enjoying the pool, but in the end it was totally worth it. After the trial she even took my hair down and changed the make-up so my guests and most importantly fiancée would be surprised the day of the wedding but so it would still look good for the remainder of the evening. The salon was much nicer than I had anticipated and everyone was so nice. My mom, sister and I enjoyed our time there. She has books to go through with examples of hair and makeup and I ended up changing the way I had thought I would do my hair for several months prior to the wedding. Suzanne’s assistants were all splendid and the stylist/make-up artist did not finish until I was perfect. The day of the wedding the crew came to our room and did an amazing job. All of our hair looked great throughout the night. I would highly, highly suggest Suzanne Morel Face and Body Care without any reservation. Photographer Miguel Ventura Cabo Image - Miguel Ventura - Photographer - Cabo San Lucas Photography Miguel was very friendly and we enjoyed our time with him. We have not received are photographs yet (we requested they be sent later since we were honeymooning in Tahiti for 10 days); however, the ones he showed us on his camera were great. Reponses to email always took a few days but his responses were very thorough. He provided us information about the equipment he used and what the backup plan was for an equipment failure or his being unavailable. He took the time to meet with us before hand to make sure we were all on the same page about what we wanted out of a photographer. Miguel came to the resort for the bonfire the day of the wedding and arrived a few hours before the ceremony to take pictures of us getting ready beforehand. After the ceremony he spent a lot of time getting photos of us on the beach (and even with some horses!) We have a close friend who was in attendance who also took some shots of us during Miguel’s shoot and he had no problem with this. Again, this is a vendor we would highly recommend to others without reservation. Cake Jennifer Hatton Cabo Dessert Diva - Jennifer Hatton- powered by SmugMug Jennifer was very pleasant to work with and tried very hard to create the cake that we wanted. Unfortunately we were unable to have our dream cake but our cake turned out beautiful regardless. During the reception, the flavors weren’t distinguishable (not any fault of Jennifer’s) because it was kept too cold however later in the room after it was at room temperature for a bit it tasted terrific! Wedding Festivities Bonfire We absolutely enjoyed the bonfire. A screen and AV equipment were provided (for a fee) that we used for a slide show for the guests (and an impromptu you tube video that became a special part of our wedding). The waiters and bar tenders were exceptional. Ceremony and Cocktail Hour Location and timing was very nice. The flowers were beautiful and included star gazer lilies which the WC didn’t think she would be able to get so it was an unexpected, pleasant surprise. However, we did not receive the bouquets until a few minutes before the maid of honor had to be downstairs and the wedding coordinator could not be reached for most of the afternoon. The sand ceremony was a special part of our ceremony that was important to us so we could include our families. I don’t remember hearing the harp but all the guests said it was nice. I would do that again. The most upsetting thing about the ceremony was on Dreams Website it says no more than one wedding will be performed at the same time; however, in between the gazebo and our reception site, another ceremony was being performed at the exact same time. Make sure to specify if you want chair ties to be the same color as those used during the reception. (Ours were a different color) There was no walk through or rehearsal which made things a little difficult, especially for the two year old flower girl (and the groom who snatched the bride from her dad too early). The minister delivered a wonderful service; however, his getting there later than we were told, made the groom and best man very nervous. Cocktails after the ceremony and the servers were great. Overall, despite the hurdles, the ceremony and cocktail hour were excellent as well as beautiful. Reception We had met with the WC the day after arriving at Dreams. We spent 45 minutes with her discussing what would take place the day of the wedding and in what order. We were under the impression that we would at least be talked through the ceremony at the bonfire when all attendants were present but this didn’t occur. The reception did not go as planned either. We hired a mariachi band to play for 1 hour and the WC changed the order of things so our first dance, father daughter dance, and mother son dance all occurred during this time (but to music on the IPOD, not from the band). We felt like we didn’t get the playing time out of the band that we had paid for due to this change in plans. Also as a result of this, we weren’t able to get the sunset pictures we had planned with the photographer either. In addition, during our first dance our guests were to have sparklers lit; however, since it was still light outside this had to be changed, too. Needless to say, our photographs will probably include us with surprised looks on our faces. The food was spectacular…it was by far the best meal of the trip. During the cake cutting, the tables were cleared although some guests had not finished with their plates. Although we had an absolutely wonderful wedding and reception, we were disappointed with the WC and felt very rushed. We opted for the Ipod connection instead of a DJ and this worked well for us. The waiters during the reception were wonderful and kept the drinks coming throughout the reception. Summary Despite some of the mix-ups and disappointments, we had a fabulous time and would not have had a traditional wedding if we had it to do over again. Being able to spend so much one on one time with our guests who came from Los Angeles, Boston, Atlanta, Texas, Tennessee, and Louisiana was priceless. The vendors we chose were fantastic, friendly, and we highly recommend them. __________________
  4. We had a bonfire a few weeks ago (March 6th) and loved it. My husband had put together a slide show and they even had a big screen for us to play it on out in the sand. The actual fire was much smaller than we had imagined (which may just be because I went to Texas A&M and am used to bonfires on a much larger scale!). If I had to do it over, I would do it again. It was one of my most favorite parts of the weekend. I hopefully will have my detailed review posted soon. Good luck! I like the idea of having a bon fire, but not to sure how to go about it. Do I just let the WC know? Do they set up the rehearsal? I am trying to figure out what I want to use as centerpieces. Any ideas. Wedding colors are red, pink and orange. Was planning on keeping it simple, but not sure what to do. Thanks for all the help! This website rocks! Gaby
  5. What was the dress code like for the different restaurants? Thanks for the great information!! I will be there 3 weeks from today. )
  6. We are having a bonfire for our welcome reception instead of a dinner. We have been in touch with Marco Arechiga [marco@loscabostoday.com] who was highly recommended to us for the service. He has been wonderful in our communication through email and is personalizing the service to our personalities. Brice
  7. Hello! I have left over sombrero straws (over 100), 48 bottles of bubbles and three boxes of light pink rose petals. If anyone is intersted in purchasing them, please let me know. I have pictures of the straws but was unable to get the picture to insert.
  8. The silver isn't a buffet...it just has different options than gold. A few of the silver options include mahi mahi, steak stuffed with mozarella and tomatoe and a pork loin with blue cheese sauce
  9. I am getting married March 7, 2009. I have been emailed several bouquet options and will post them when I figure out how to!
  10. Does anyone who recently married at Dreams Los Cabos have any recommendations for a mariachi band? Thanks!
  11. Hello! My mom recently talked to someone who got married at Dreams Cabo in June and said it was too cold to swim in the pools. We are getting married in March...does anyone have any experience with the weather then? Will it be too cold?? Thanks!!
  12. Michael says I am incredibly hard to surprise...I am very inquisitive about everything so he's probably right! We had reservations at Fleming’s on June 13th to celebrate Michael and Shawn's birthday. Michael had dropped me off for a manicure and pedicure around 5:30 (yes, I fell for that one!)and picked me back up before dinner. We had a great dinner with 5 of our friends and then it was time for the cake. Michael says I was being difficult and wouldn't sit next to him like he planned...I was too busy trying to get Michael and Shawn to sit next to each other so I could take a picture of the birthday boy and girl blowing out their candles. The waiter appeared at the most perfect time to take our picture so Michael scooted over and I was sharing his seat with him when his cake arrived. Shawn went first and blew out her candles and then it was Michael's turn...except he didn't want to make a wish because I was the one person in the restaurant that could make his wish come true...the next thing I knew, he was on his knee asking me to grow old with him. I was beyond shocked...in fact, I was so surprised that Kevin had to remind me that I hadn't said yes and I didn't notice the illuminated box the ring was in that everyone else thought was so cool. I came home to the sweetest card (the kind that plays music), a heart made of hershey kisses, and beautiful roses!! It was the most perfect, romantic engagement I could have ever dreamed for.
  13. My name is Brice, I became engaged on June 13th and am planning a wedding at Dreams Los Cabos for March 7, 2009. I look forward to any helpful advice!
