  3. Hi all Well i'm on my honeymoon and we had scales in the first room we got put in...oh oh - think i've been having too much fun!! Looks like i've put on close to A STONE!!! my bad....so i'll be back here in a few weeks time looking for some motivation!
  4. I'd say bustle..but make sure your maid is with you at your fitting so they get shown how to do it! Mine couldn't make ANY of my fittings, and so on the day, she didn't know how to put it up, and it basically just got tied up by our photographer who tried her best god love her, she saved me soo many times on the day!
  5. I know what its like trying to please your guests...but we made all our decisions before letting our guests know we were getting married abroad...that way, they knew the expensive from the start...we also gave them over 2 years notice!lol Booking direct does cost alot extra...we were just below £6k for the 2 of us for accommodation for 2 weeks and our flights, so I defo can relate to you! Luckily we don't have a family yet and our mortgage is relatively small so we were willing to go all out for our wedding. Good luck with your planning..with the help of everyone on this board you'll get through it and have the most amazing time!

They also said that although flights are not showing on their site for 24th it may be that Cosmos have chartered the plane for that day and it's not on sale for TCook! It is ONE complete joke. NOBODY can give me a definate answer so we can't book yet! BOOOOO ( Hi, I know what your saying about costs, but honestly, I'll NEVER fly with TC again after this holiday...we booked our flights and accommodation seperately, but the problems we've had with TC have been unbelievable...even at the airport it was a complete JOKE!! We flew long haul with First Choice last year and will do so for future long hauls...they were fab....the inflight facilities were fantastic and we were in the standard class...we flew to Mexico Premier class and the inflight facilities were no where near as good as the standard class First Choice offered!! When it comes to insurance, you can get travel insurance that covers independant travellers...costs a wee bit more, but worth every penny. Something some people don't realise as well, is travel agents don't have access to all room options hotels have...for example, booking through a TA for moon palace, you get the option of a king bed or 2x double beds....moon palace has 3 sections....Thomas Cook only have insurance for guests to stay at the Sunrise side....we booked indepedently and got a concierge room at the Nicuz side just next to the new side, Moon Grand. We do plan on going back to moon palace, and when we do, will 100% book independantly again. It does cost more, but its your wedding/honeymoon...and if your like us, you want it to be perfect...with no regrets. Hope i didn't go on too much there...just trying to spread my thoughts as an old wifey now!lol

I used my TA just for the bookings of flights/hotels and i've spoken to the hotel direct for the rest. i booked June 2009 for a July 2010 wedding and got my dates immediately doing it that way. as for the hen do's, i've had leeds and Ibiza is next weekend (eeeek!) then i've got one with work at a bar, and one with everyone at a mexican restaurant. and then once we're in mexico one there at Coco Bongos Josietoms - that must of been a hard decision to make re the baby. is your hotel an adult only resort then? why can't a newborn travel with you? I also got my date confirmed straight away, although I'm another moon palace bride....defo worth looking into...I couldn't handle not knowing right away! Especially since some of our guests arrived onsite the week before us..if our date hadn't been confirmed, these people might have missed our wedding by days or whatever. The downside of not going with a TA is the luggage allowance...if you book your wedding through a TA, you get an extra suitcase for WEDDING ITEMS ONLY...however, I pestered thomas cook CONSTANTLY and got the extra suitcase added to my allowance....although, in the end we didn't use it!ha Be warned though, the pestering has to be constant if your with thomas cook, customer service is DREADFUL...I was kept on hold one day in work for 1 hour 50mins before getting through to an operator for all of 10-15mins!! Cost us a fortune!! We upgraded our flights to premium class, meaning we got 30kg of luggage allowance instead of the standard 15kg/20kg....although it costs extra, I'd recommend people do this...the flight is alot more comfortable, you get unlimited drinks on the flight, and we did take around 26kg each!! The good thing about premium aswell, was as we had soo many of our guests up in the standard class seats, we could order drinks for them, and take them up! Of course the stewards didn't know this, but hey, we tried to get our moneys worth!ha
  8. Hi Ladies I just got married at moon palace last week, and am on my honeymoon at Le Blanc just now. Don't know if I spoke to any of you on YouandYourWedding.co.uk - I haven't went back on since the site got revamped...don't like the layout - not very user friendly. Anyway, the reason I'm posting is there had been alot of chat about the paperwork to take with you. I booked the wedding direct with moon palace, who confirmed for me we didn't need our birth certs with apostilles...however people who booked through travel agents were told for all weddings in mexico the apostille was required. This is completely false...it is site specific, as is the number of days you need to be on resort before getting married. I didn't have the apostille and got married no bother...saved ourselves around £200+ - I did bring this up on the old YYW forum, a few people weren't happy with it and a bit skeptic, rightly so since they're TA's were telling them differently. But I'm just wanting to make sure future brides know this, and look into their sites specific - it could save you a few pennies...maybe to spend on shoes! heehee
  9. Seemed to be....we are at le blanc just now, and could have walked up to the beach at dreams...as its on the same stretch of sand. our photographers picked us up and drove us up...got some amazing photos as it was around sunset we went.
  10. Quote: Originally Posted by alison15 Did you use the Moon Palace photographer? That is a good idea though, I don't want to regret not getting certain photos. No we brought our own photographer which annoys me even more because we paid a fortune...but its my own fault....it has been suggested on here time and time again about making a list to give to your photographer, but me being me thought I knew better, and didn't want to come over all bridezilla like. But looking back, it wouldn't have at all, it would just have gave our photographers an idea of what we were looking for. DOH!!!
  11. Hi girls...I'm at Le Blanc just now on honeymoon...miss moon palace sooo much...it was all sooo perfect! Just want to give one piece of advise for any brides-to-be before I get round to doing a review....make a list of all the photos you want and give to your photographer....I read this advise soo much on this site and didn't do it because I had the attitude that the photographer would know what to do....however if you want specific photos, you need to let your photographer know! I completely forgot about a few photos, and am kinda sad about it...although I know my photos are gonna be amazing without them, I wish i'd remembered...just silly ones like when all the men lift the bride up, or when everyone is running into the sea....I thought I'd remember everything because I was soo into the photos...however on the day my mind just went blank! Just wanted to share my wisdom for any forthcoming brides....get an email sent to your photographer with some bullet points..or get a list printed to give them on the day

Did it seem weird using an IPOD without a DJ/MC? We used the bose ipod dock. We'd planned on doing this all along, then with a week to go, asked for prices for the DJ, however at that stage it was way out our price range. We didn't have any announcements...the wedding co-ordinator kept everything in time, but didn't make announcements. I thought the ipod was enough, hubby was wanting it louder. Hubby spent alot of time of the playlists, we put on our wedsite for guests to request songs and he spent soo much time downloading their requests and getting everything in order. Something to keep in mind is that guests have access to the docking system, and our guests were going up and choosing their own songs. Didn't bother me tbh, but hubby was a bit gutted because of the amount of time he spent on it. With all this in mind, I'm still glad we didn't go for the DJ. Its alot of money for a few hours when you can do it yourself.

I'm sure i've heard other brides bringing table decor with no problem....think its just down to what you can pack in your case!!
  14. Forgot to mention, we used the spa today for back massages...i'm not really into massages, more into visable treatments...however h2b gets massages regularly and loves it here soo much that he's booked himself and bestman in for full body massages tomorrow before the wedding! So defo get some treatments booked in!
  15. hi girls...i'm at mp just now and getting married TOMORROW!! Just wanted to say to everyone HONESTLY the place is AMAZING!! Thats all our guests keep saying. The beach really isn't as bad as people make out, the tractor goes up and down a few times a day, if we had the budget at this stage, i'd change to a beach setup! Wedding co-ordinator Lily has been fab...we were booked for the Bug..gazebo and terrace, but we preferred the tucan once we saw them, and she changed no bother. We have also managed to get a gorgeous terrace area right outside our room (moon grand) right on the beach - couldn't ask for more! The food is crazy amazing - we have been having room service during the day, cheese burgers are soo good - coming from a girl who only eats mcd's burgers generally thats a big deal! Breakfasts in bed - pancakes...and they have these hash browns with cheese in them...OMG...i did intent on eating fruit all week but its just been too hard...hope the dress still fits! Miami Vice cocktails are soo yummy....we had our rehearsal dinner at the arceffices (spelling sorry, i'm too chilled to do a search for correct spelling) and it was sooo good - everyone tried bits of everything, I stuck to the chicken which was AMAZING and i'd happily go there every night for dinner! Occupancy isn't very high, so we're getting spoilt rotten...spending time at nicuz and moon grand...padded sunloungers are the way to go! staff couldn't do anything more for us...we are moving to le blanc on saturday and i'm actually really sad about it....moon palace rocks!
  16. I'm a uk bride getting married at the end of this month! We booked our wedding and accommodation direct with our resort...meant we got direct wedding co-ordinator contact ALOT quicker! Also meant we could choose between the room upgrades the hotel have, rather than what the ta offer! We booked our flights through thomas cook and have to say, worst experience EVER!! Will never go with them again...soo glad we didn't book anything else with them! We flew with first choice last year and wish we'd booked with them now...but we'd already booked up at that point! Anyway, if anyone can, I'd recommend doing as much with your resort as possible
  17. LOVE your review...thank you sooo much!! Got me very excited! Thats good to know the dress getting pressed was only $35....did you organise this before you went or onsite?

My 2nd dress fitting is tomorrow...think i'll have one more then that'll be my dress done! woohoo Got everything else pretty much organised...need to get our playlist done actually..we aren't having a dj...going to take our bose soundsystem and iphone and diy it...the dj packages at moon palace are soo expensive...the outdoor reception is expensive enough as it is! So yeah, feel organised...although busy all the time! I love it! don't know what i'll do once its all over with! And luckily flights from the uk are back in the air so FINGERS CROSSED it stays that way and no more volcano's erupt! Hows things with you?
