    Don't know much about Barcelo Maya Colonial but the Riu Palace Riviera Maya is/was AMAZING. I was there just last month...Great staff, great food.

    Hands down, Shawn Starr is freaking amazing. I tried to get him to shoot my family when we were out there in March but no dice (he does not do families) but he will blow your mind if he shoots your wedding. For real.

    Having lived on the North Shore of Oahu...I would say hands down the best luau on all of Oahu is found at the Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC). And yes, as rumored, they DO NOT serve alcohol. During the day it is suggested you tour the villages where they put on various shows/demos about each culture (Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Hawaii, New Zealand etc). There are a couple different ones but the one we get each time is the Alii Luau (we went this past March). Its fantastic...

    I was just at the RIU Palace in the Riveira Maya and I am POSITIVE though the resort is child friendly, there is NOT childcare.
