A-maz-ing. Simply, amazing.  I know it's been almost two weeks since we've been back and I've failed to write anything on here....so for that, I suck.  I promise to get my two cents in this weekend when I have a chance to catch up with everything.  Yeah Nathaniel, how's about that teaser.  (wink wink)  1-pray.gif

Yeah! Update coming shortly...I'm on my way home now.  I've only slept in my own bed a couple of nights since Megan's wedding.  I'll post tonight!  I had an unbelievable time, and Megan was gorgeous!  stay tuned!

  2. It was great meeting you too, Lea!  Glad to hear your wedding went as well as Amy and Dan's!  I'm honored to be a part of this forum, and I pinch myself every time I shoot a wedding at Las Caletas to make sure I'm not dreaming.  I head down again in a few days,  and I can't wait!

Also, one more plug for Kelley - she's been working miracles on top of making each wedding personal.  I had a great talk with her on the boat ride, and she really cares about each of her couples and wants their weddings to be just as they'd dreamed.

It was great meeting you last Saturday, I was with Kelley during my site visit while you were shooting Amy's wedding. Thanks for coming on this thread and always being helpful to us brides.

I definitely read your posts and advice on this thread while planning my wedding.

  3. Hey Ladies!  I leave tomorrow morning - Saturday is the first of 3 weddings I'm shooting in about two weeks at Las Caletas (including Megan's aka ReadyBetty) and I can't wait.  Let me know if you have anything you'd like me to look into for y'all and I'd be happy to.  Just post here today and I'll check it before I leave.  I'll be back on the 1st before I leave again on the 8th.  VIVA CALETAS!!!

  4. You might try grand cayman.  I shot a wedding there last year at the reef resort.  If you book during the summer, they have discounted rooms ($160/night - sleeping 4) and the flights looked like they're less than $500 pp in July.  Grand cayman is beautiful and VERY safe.  If you're interested check these slideshows of the wedding and the TTD session:

  5. Welcome to the forum and congratulations!  Search around and you'll find that there have been quite a few brides on here with small weddings - I'm sure you'll get some great ideas.  Ultimately, think about what you want your wedding celebration to be like, think about what's most important to you and then make it happen.

  6. Kelley RULES!!!!!  She is, hands down, the best destination coordinator I have worked with.  She is an amazing asset to Las Caletas, and one of the main reasons I boast about Las Caletas to any who will listen.  I don't know what mass email she sent to you all - but I pray she stays, gets competent help, and adequate $$$$$ compensation from Vallarta Adventures.  She (and previously with Nicole in 2009 and prior) has built Las Caletas weddings into a lucrative business venture for Vallarta Adventures.   I have 4 weddings there in 2011 and I know all will go beautifully if Kelley is there to coordinate them.

  7. I've been there several times at different times of the year, and by ceremony time the sand is definitely not hot.  I've had brides wear wedges, flip flops, and go barefoot.  If your bridesmaids are going barefoot, I think the suggestion of wearing flip flops or some shoe on the way down from the casita, and then taking them off before their entrance is a good one.

I have another question (probably one of a million coming up since it is less than 4 months away! :)) but for the veteran LC brides....I have read the threads in the forum about what shoes to wear on the beach, but I was wondering what yall wore as there are the steps involved in the walk down the aisle also!?! Obviously, I will not be wearing heels, but I am now thinking about wearing a wedge, as I am short and like height. I am getting my bridesmaids barefoot jewelry I think. Will there feet burn on the sand (our ceremony is at 6 in May so hopefully not)? Did you wear different shoes during the reception? Has anyone walked down the aisle in wedges? Thanks so much!

  8. Welcome to the forum!  Las Brisas is great because it has its own private cove, a beautiful location - I've been to Ixtapa several times, and I've been to Las Brisas, but never stayed there.   I usually stay a resort around the point from Las Brisas - but , my assistant stayed there a couple of months ago and loved it.

  9. I stayed in Playa Grande for 10 days and loved it.  Surfed everyday - its just up the beach from Tamarindo, so your guests that surf can walk up the beach from Tamarindo or take a short drive.  There were many surfers staying in Tamarindo that walked up every day to Playa Grande.  Tamarindo is also a reasonably short drive to several other good breaks.

And as mentioned above - make a trip to Monteverde and do the zip line tour.  Simply Awesome!  Unlike any other Zipline tours I've done before...

So if the Barcelo is the hotel in Tamarindo you like, then I say do it!

    Good luck and happy planning!
