  1. My husband and I had our legal ceremony first in the US, then had a symbolic ceremony in Cabo. Our legal ceremony was in our living room, just us and the JP (no witnesses required in our state). Both ceremonies were special in their own way. The one at home was special because it was just us, then the one in Cabo was so amazing with all our family and friends, plus the religious element of being married by a minister. And I was a lot less nervous for the wedding in Cabo, no matter what we were already married, I could just relax and have fun!! Both weddings were wonderful. Good luck!!
  2. You can mix and match from the menu - since we picked menu 3 (the most expensive) we could mix and match food items from any of the columns. You have to pick one salad and one soup and one dessert for the whole group. Then you can have different main courses (like if some people want chicken some want beef). Here is what we had: Vinaigrette Tomato Salad (listed under Menu 3 - Vegetarian) Tlalpeno soup (listed under Menu 2 - Chicken) Lobster stuffed beef fillet medallions for all of our guests but 2 people Shellfish stuffed chicken filet with mango sauce for our 2 guests that wanted chicken No dessert because we had wedding cake It was all delicious! They served rolls with the soup and the meat courses came with potatoes and vegetables.
  3. We had 45 guests but we had to pay for 50 (50 is the minimum) for the buffet. I don't have any pics of the buffet food or plates (once I get my pics from my photographer if there are any pics of the plate I will post it here) but I can tell you that the presentation was excellent. The lobster in the beef for the plate dinner was very good. Also the lobster tails on the buffet were a huge hit - they were delicious and they also served hot butter along side it - everybody loved it!
  4. We had private menus for both the rehearsal dinner and wedding reception. Deluxe buffet for the rehearsal dinner - expensive but so worth it!! It is unbelievable how much food you get and it is so delicious - our guests were blown away by it. It was a fantastic way to start the celebrations. We did the private menu for the reception - beef with lobster, tomato vinaigrette salad and talapeno? soup. Also very good but cannot compare to the buffet.
  5. I got married at the Riu Palace on April 18, and got my hair done at the Renova Spa. They did a really great job although I brought pictures and we did a trial hairdo a couple days before so I'm not sure what it would have been like had we not done that. Also I had a friend come for both sessions and she was extremely helpful - always good to have second set of eyes. Cecilia did my hair and Claudia did my Mom's hair at the same time and she ended up helping with mine at the end. Both are very good but I think Claudia is probably a little better and definitely speaks better English. Good luck!
  6. My wedding is April 18 at the Riu Palace and I was booked to rent out the entire Mexican restaurant for my reception. I was just informed by the WC that you can't rent out the entire restaurant unless you have a minimum of 60people. We have approx 50. I don't understand - I know I've seen pics of private receptions there with a lot less people than that. Do any of the Riu brides (past and present) have a private reception there with less than 50 guests? I feel like this is really coming out of left field since I told the WC last spring that I wanted to rent it out, and that I would have between 40 - 50 people, and she never mentioned this rule once until 3 months before my wedding. Any advice
  7. I'm looking for a really beautiful pic of the Cabo landscape for my save the date magnets - maybe something with a combination of the beach, ocean, palm trees, and the Cabo rocks? You wouldn't believe how hard that is to find!! Does anyone have any great pics they can share? I would really really appreciate it. Thank you!!
  8. My name is Kelly, I just got engaged this Christmas, planning a wedding in Cabo San Lucas in spring 2009. This website is great! I've already gotten some great ideas just from browsing. I'm really interested in hearing from someone who knows about civil weddings in Mexico. I'm not sure whether to have the civil wedding at home and religious in Mexico, or do the civil and religious in Mexico. How would that work? I've heard that the civil ceremony in Mexico is performed by a judge in Spanish and the vows cannot be customized. I'm not sure that is what I want to do in front of my guests. What do most people do? Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much! Congrats to you all!
