  2. We (and by "we" I mean "I"...b/c FI couldn't care less either way) have been going back and forth about a few things regarding the ceremony. just a little background...we are having a beach ceremony(with steel drum band) with about 35 guests and then heading to a restaurant for lunch. We can't seem to decide on whether or not to have a sand ceremony and a champagne toast following ceremony. I could go either way on the sand ceremony, but my thoughts are that it is just more stuff for us to lug on and off the cruise ship. As far as the champagne toast, my mom thinks we should have a toast after the ceremony, but a good number of our guests don't drink and I am sure those who do probably won't all like champagne. Our guests will receive bottled waters when they get off the shuttle for the ceremony and then will receive rum punch or red stripe on the 15 min. ride from the beach to the restaurant. We have such a limited day in Jamiaca since we arrive by cruise ship that I am really overthinking every detail and analyzing taking up too much time with trivial things and taking away from pics and enjoying Jamaica. So my question is will I regret not doing either a sand ceremony or champagne toast??...what is your opinion? On a side note...when you have a ceremony on the beach and you walk back down the aisle afterwards do you just stop at the end of the aisle and turn around to hang out with your guests since you don't have anywhere else to go?? It just seems like an awkward arrangement. I know these are all random questions, but these are the random things that run through my head, and you girls would understand the most. Thanks!
  3. Leia...I am not able to PM you for some reason (I think there are problems with some of the forum features)...but I was wondering if you received your AA bouquets? I was going to wait to order from AA until I know how many make up each bouquet. Thanks so much, and sorry to be a pest!!! BTW...you shower looked like so much fun...very cute!
  4. I don't think its weird at all! Two of my best friends met their husbands online and so did my FBIL.
  5. Thanks, but I think they may be bigger than what I am looking for. Quote: Originally Posted by blkladylaw Found them. They are 5 inches in diameter as mentioned. This is the large size. 6. Glad to hear you had a great time! Do you happen to know if any regular stores carry tshirts you can buy? My bf's b-day is Friday and she will be going to the concert in Nov. ..I thought a tshirt would be a good gift.
  7. I am in the same situation. Initially I told FMIL not too worry about it b/c airfare was too expensive...we live in FL and she is in RI. Well, she kept bringing it up, and saying that her family kept asking and giving her dirty looks b/c I wasn't having one. So finally airfare went on sale and we decided to do it the same weekend that FI will go up for his bachelor party thrown by his brother. I figured that they are giving us a lot of money to put towards the wedding, so if this makes her happy then I can just suck it up. You may just want to let her, it can't hurt (I hope!) Good luck!
  8. I am a Jamaica bride, but we will only be there one day on a Celebrity cruise. We are leaning towards Belize for our HM...we wanted a little adventure and a place that offered more than just beaches since we are from FL.

  10. A girl on another forum ordered from this site and DIYed her own, she really recommended them...also, they don't have a minimum order requirement like most suppliers. Good luck! Wholesale Silk Flowers, Artificial Plants and Accessories - Flowers By Design
  11. I might be interested in a gardenia if they are white. Could you please post a pic?
  12. I think I bought the same in white awhile back, and I love them. They are the perfect height if you want some heel, but not be a giant. I had to send back the first pair that was my usual size, b/c they ran a little small.
  13. I can totally relate!! My FI is a college baseball coach, plus he has another full time job. Certain seasons are worse than others, but during the spring I never see him. When it comes that time I always complain and whine, but I have promised myself to be better about it because I knew what I was getting into. He is very committed to furthering his baseball career and it has to be life or death for him to miss a game or practice. We even planned our wedding around baseball season! We just try to have date nights when we can, and I look forward to the breaks between seasons. Congrats on your upcoming wedding and good luck!
  14. I was wondering if anyone that is using Evita's in Ochi for their reception has heard from Eva in the past month. I have emailed her a couple times with no response in a month or so. She has always been very responsive (usually within an hour of my email), so this is not like her. Maybe she went on a long vacation? Anyone know?

You can try Floral Fantasy; Flowers for All Occasions from Negril, Jamaica They are supposed to be adding delivery to OR, but I don't know what the pricing is. I've heard Tia Flora is a little pricey, but have no personal experience with them. We used Floral Fantasies through our resort and prices were cheaper than what they quoted me. Floral Fantasy just sent me a price list, and said they will deliver to Ocho Rios for $50. Here is the price list... WEBSITE_-_WEDDING_PRICE_LIST.doc_-revised.doc
  16. I recommend giving them childrens liquid benedryl (2-4 mg/kg) to make them drowsy. That is what I did for my cat on a 14 hour drive, but she never gets freaked out. There are also stronger sedatives...check with your vet.
  17. Anyone wanting to sell their real/natural touch green cybidium orchid, white orchid, or white gardenia hair flower? Thanks!

I don't think I want flowers for my centerpieces...maybe just candles and something else but I've always wanted a bouquet of roses. nothing else! I want the bridesmaids bouquets to be roses as well as the Boutinneires. I'm in the process of looking for someone now. I don't think I can afford Tia Flora. My total flower budget is $400 and I'm hoping that's a realistic amount. We shall see... Yeah, I would really like to go with Tai Floral, but they are way out of our budget. We aren't doing any decorations at Evita's, it is just not realistic for us coming off a cruise ship and all. We could ship stuff, but we are try to keep things simple. Are you hiring a band or dj at Evitas?
  20. I am, although I haven't gotten too far. So far we have nice canvas bags, hand sanitizer, and water bottles for them to take on excursions. I am just picking up things as I find good deals. WHat about you?

I asked if she thought we would need fans for our guests due to the weather and she suggested purchasing some fans from them but they were like $13 a piece. Um, no thank you! lol Eva has been great! she suggested someone for our cake and our centerpieces (tia flora) but tia flora is a little outside of our budget so I'm hoping she can recommend someone who's prices are a little less. Did you already decide on your menu? Well, at least I know that I am not the only one...I was beginning to think she had something against me. Yeah, $13/fan is ridiculous...definitely bring your own, we are. What bugs me about her packages are that they are for 10 guests, but these guests include the bride and groom. We will have near 40 people, so having to pay per head after 10 is adding up quickly. It seems overkill to charge $20 per guest for just a plastic chair with cover and sash for 15 minutes(maybe I am just cheap). Did you find the same thing to be true? This is the menu we decided on, but we will probably eliminate the appetizers OR the soup and salad. It just all seems like a lot of food for lunch. We both don't like cake and icing, but love cheesecake. So instead of a wedding cake we will allow our guests to pick their dessert. choice of one appetizer: Gamberi cocktail Mozzarella in Carrozza Jamaica's viagra choice of one of the following: Zuppa del Giorna Mista choice of one entree: Lasagna Rastafari Jerk Spaghetti Chicken Parmigiano Fresh fish of the day choice of one dessert: cheese cake tiramisu Jamaican Bobsled pie
