  1. oh, and Men's Warehouse is having a huge winter sale right now. They also have a great "rewards program" where you earn gift cards on all money spent-suit, alterations, accessories, etc. Their alteration prices are very reasonable. I've been very pleased with the service we've received, especially since most of our guys are out of state.
  2. http://www.menswearhouse.com/menswea...08474395562783 I think these are the ones we're going with. Because they are silk they are very lightweight and breathable. They look like normal suits, not shiny. Our guys are wearing pale aqua button-down shirts to match the BMs, no ties--open collar, and the colorful boutennier. FH will wear a plain white button down to match me!
  3. http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...A51E9486EC.jpg That's my dress. The sash will be longer and a lighter shade of aqua. ( I had to steal that one off a bridesmaid dress!) I'm also buying a smaller A-line crinoline and having my seamstress add extra layers of aqua tulle so when I lift my skirt there is a surprise splash of color.
  4. I vote for the 1st one. I love the neckline, it's very unique. You should definitely take pictures of yourself in each and look at them in print before you decide.
  5. I agree with everyone else, if you can afford it go for it. We're upgrading our room at Couples to a mid-level suite, primarily so we won't be in a room block with all of our other guests so we can have a little more privacy. I'm really hoping we'll get an up-grade upon arrival!
  6. Check out this page by knottie PulmeriaPal. I swear she has the best wedding/planning page I have ever seen! (it's about half way down on the page) Bio Also try: Bio
  7. Michelle you sound like me! I can't seem to make myself choose a dress! there are so many pretty ones out there and I'm really indecisive. I've given myself until next Friday and then I'm going to blindfold myself, throw all of the pictures in the air and pick one! lol! It is a beautiful dress! I know you will look great in it.
  8. Welcome! You can plan in 5-6 months! The trickiest part will be getting your dress. Some companies take 4+ months to arrive. I agree that once you choose a location, everything else falls into place! Happy Planning! Erin Are you ready for the Orange Bowl tonight? My FH is a huge JayHawk fan!
  9. Some people have no tact! I booked the ceremony to begin at 4:00, which is supposed to be the rainyest time of day. Isn't rain on your wedding day supposed to be good luck?
  10. My cousin did this at her wedding and it was really special. Not a dry eye in the church!
  11. I think it would be a great excuse to go back to your destination for your 1 year anniversary! Afterall the gift is paper and that's what tickets are made of! We would probably forget the cake if we froze it! lol So we aren't going to try and save any.
  12. I like the "Meet the Newlyweds" party idea. Though we are having an AHR in Louisville when we return, I think we're going to have a small BBQ with FH's family around Labor Day. My only concern with pot-luck...and I say this because I am a caterer and chef...you might want to delegate who brings what. For example send x number of invites that say bring dessert, vegetables, etc. I've seen many an event end up with 6 green bean casseroles or 9 chinese cole slaws...
  13. Wow, your pictures are amazingly beautiful. Your TTD session is actually making me consider having one! I think we even have the same dress!
  14. Wow Jen, I am impressed! I could give up pretty much anything but my Diet Coke! I have cut down to 1-2 per day but I have to get my caffeine somehow, lol. I'm ready to start getting in shape. My wedding is about 5 months away and I need to drop about 40 lbs, or at least tone the hell out of myself. We have a big half-marathon here in late April and I'm going to do it! My first official training day is Jan 6 with a 2 mile run. I'm telling myself as long as I finish I'll be happy--running, jogging, walking, crawling... I plan on doing other exercise and weight training, but I figure if I go on and pay the entry fee I'll be more motivated. I'll keep you ladies posted!
  15. There are some great things you can buy on the island, hopefully your on-site coordinator can arrange for a vendor. I'm going to do a mini bottle of appleton rum and a small package of blue mountain coffee. I also figure that buying there will save on shipping, taxes, and give more back to the local economy.

    I'm new!

Welcome! Congrats and good luck planning!
  17. In my understanding, no one should be invited to a wedding related event that is not invited to the wedding itself. However, I do think that if you word the shower invite to re-iterate that you aren't getting married here, it would probaly be ok. Or, you or the shower hostess could call each guest to personally invite them so you have a chance to explain why she didn't receive a wedding invite should it come up.
  18. Congratulations! The pictures you've posted have been beautiful! I can't wait to see more!
  19. Those are beautiful! I looked into having some made but they were going to be about $6.00 each without the extra postage. I'm thinking I might try to make my own but I doubt they will turn out as nicely as yours. I'll keep you posted!
  20. Thanks, I'm excited to be here. I've used other forums but without much luck. Destination weddings are so much different than "normal" church weddings! I'm glad to know there are people out there who will be able to understand my joys and frustrations with the planning.
  21. Trista-- How did you like COuples Swept Away? That is where we are having our wedding. We were origianlly going with a different resort but had lots of problems. Now I'm still a little nervous!
  22. My name is Erin. I am getting married June 21st at Couples Swept Away in Negril Jamaica. My fiancee met on a blind date and he proposed on our 5 year anniversary! I look forward to sharing with other DW brides!
