  1. After writing a long email to "[email protected]" asking about wedding info I finally recieved a reply back today but all they sent me was a price quote for staying at the resort for 7 nights ($1148 for two people in a junior suite)! ( I haven't heard back from the other requests I sent to two other email addresses I tried weeks ago.
  2. This resort is on my short list but I've had no luck getting any wedding info from them. Has anyone actually heard back from the resort? I have emailed them using both of the email addresses provided in this thread and I have not heard back from them and it has been over 3 weeks. Any wedding specific information would be great (this site won't let me view the pdf file that was posted).
  3. How did everyone and their family members book their trips for their DWs? My FI and I have been to about 6 local travel agents who all basically offer "travel packages" through Apple or other similar groups and say they never contact the actual resort. They look at us like we are crazy when we ask if they are able to negotiate a lower rate for our group. They also say that they can't really give us a set price because the price will vary depending on when everyone within our group makes their individual bookings. They also claim that the "travel packages" are going to be far cheaper than working directly with the resort. Most of the advice I've read on DWs recommends going with a travel agent that can work with the resort to negotiate prices. So my big question is: Where do I find these kinds of travel agents who are actually skilled with DWs? And which type of booking is cheaper: the package deal or booking the room and flight seperately (because I only seem to be getting the biased TAs' opinion on that matter)? Also, if we find a TA that gets us a room block but then a large proportion of our guests end up booking through something like Apple or another TA out of familiarity, what happens then/does that impact the negotiated rate? Costs for our guests is THE biggest factor (my fiances' parents would have to be footing a bill for a family of 6 because of his teenage siblings) we need to figure out before we finally decide on a resort and we can't seem to find any concrete answers. Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated!!!!! (if it helps in anyway: We are estimating about 35 guest, want an all-inclusive resort in the Riviera Maya/Southern Cancun region with a free - inexpensive wedding package, resort can't be adult only, and are perticularly interested in the Moon Palace but hear conflicting reports that it is really super expensive or surprisingly affordable)
  4. Hello everyone! My name is Amanda and I am so glad I found this forum! After returning from a Mexican vacation at the end of October I became convinced that I must have DW. I've just recently started the planning process and am already feeling a bit overwhelmed. I would like to have the wedding at a resort in Riviera Maya but have no idea how to select which resort. We are planning it for the end of October 2008. Unfortunately the only one I have been to (Dreams Tulum) had the worst front desk staff/concierge service(Mariano specifically) that they almost ruined our entire vacation and ensured that I would never do business with them ever again. This site has already provided me with a wealth of information! Some of my key questions at this time are: 1. How do you get accurate pricing (especially in terms of giving my guests an estimation on how much it will cost them) prior to booking the resort? Cost is a big factor for our families so we would like to keep the costs down as much as we can for our guests. Right now most internet sites are telling me it is too far in advance to get pricing for the end of October 2008 and available pricing seems to vary greatly from site to site. Also, are you able to negotiate special pricing when booking multiple rooms, and if so, do all the rooms need to be booked at the same time? 2. Who do you book through (the resort directly, a travel agent, travel websites, or things like Apple Vacations) for the best prices/services? 3. What is the proper wedding etiquette for inviting guests/providing them the details on the wedding so they can book it as far in advance as possible? I can already tell this site is going to become part of my daily routine! )
