  1. Welcome hulahooty! I am a January 2009 bride also. Happy planning!
  2. Does anyone know if the steal band does requests if you give them sheet music? We would like to get married to a song that would sound beautiful on the drums.
  3. I feel clueless. How does your marriage become legal? I think I understand how it works in the US after reading your threads, but in Canada, when I get the marriage license what do you do? Do you need to take it anywhere or do anything with it to have it recognized in Canada?
  4. Please don't laugh. How do you get things notarized? How long does this take and cost? How far in advance did you send your documents?

I just found a travel agent that specializes in destination weddings and will hopefully be sending out my preliminary STDs next week (after we finally set a guest list)! Plus I am going dress shopping this Saturday! Thank you all for your wonderful advice... I am so excited to start planning. I should have taken better notes as I read though things... but I'm just wondering what your approximate timeline for planning was? When did you first contact Chandyln... book your wedding time and reception... have all your guests book...and all that stuff? I am really worried that my friends will procrastinate deciding to go and actually booking... did you have troubles with that? Hey Becky! I am a fellow 2009 bride at ROR. I haven't been able to book my 2009 time yet. Riu said they may allow booking sometime between January and April. Is your date of the 5th confirmed or is that just the day you are hoping for? I just want to be able to pick a date so I can start ordering things like STD.
  6. Does anyone know with sunquest how it works for your dress? I would like to take mine on the plane, but does that count towards your limit?
  7. My finance is so jelous. He would love to have our reception at the Bier market. Congratulations!

  9. Honda girl - since this is your name I am assuming you are in Ontario. I am working with a fantastic travel agent in Barrie if you are interested? I can PM you the info if you are interested.
  10. Hello, Hello and welcome. Nice to see a fellow Canadian!
  11. I love love love Love Actually. Kinda addicted.
  12. I have been to Barcelo and my friend just got back. Very beautiful resort with very friendly staff. Congrats!
  13. Thank-you for posting the photos. It helps me figure out what I want!
  14. Welcome. Prepare to become addicted.
  15. I am also planning January 2009. My travel agent forward me notes from Riu that state they can't start booking until Feb/March this coming year. You can maybe put yourself on the waiting list in Feb, but only through a travel agent. They said it was because they dont have the ministers secured for that time. Hope that helps.
  16. I am flying out of Toronto for January 2009. We are using sunquest and for our guests it is <$1800 with tax, flight and transfers.
  17. Thank you all for the warm welcome. I am quite excited to start planning!
  18. Hey Ladies. What did everyone do regarding invitations/save the date cards? I have no idea when or what to send out. We are getting married in January 2009.
  19. I had the same problem trying to decide. It is hard to find a great resort in Jamaica when you include kids. When it came down to it the Riu hotels seemed beautiful, reasonably priced, has adults, couples, singles, children and plus there are tonnes of brides on here to help you. I choose Ocho Rios because it looks so beautiful!
  20. I wasn't to excited to go dress shopping and when I got there I had fun. I only went with my maitron of honour. When I got home I realized I didnt really like any of the dresses I tried on. I figured out I had to go on my own. I went to a little shop during the week (I agree it is better to go then). The lady at the store was great, I picked out some I was interested in and then she gave me some just to try. I was alone in a room with 30 dresses. I kept trying until I found one I liked. Some were horrible, but when you are by yourself who cares, no one is there to see.
  21. Hey All, This newbie is very excited to join a room where I finally have someone to help answer all my wedding delemas. My wedding will be in Jamaica in January 2009, but I still haven't picked the date. I have already learned so much from your postings and I am excited to learn more. Christene
