  3. I got married in late May and I thought it was way too hot. Some of our guests from the east coast did not mind as much because they are used to the heat and humidity but I am from LA and our LA guests were quite uncomfortable (even if they didnt complain). That being said, if you are going all the way to PV to get married, dont get married indoors! Just make the best of whatever comes your way. However, if your date is not set yet, I would seriously consider changing it. Your fiance is correct in thinking about the guests comfort, because you two will be so happy, nothing will bother you:) I also changed into a mini dress for the reception and my husband changed his shirt to a white linen shirt. We had planned this for fun way in advance but on the day of the wedding it was so hot, it was a necessity!!! My husband had sweated through his ceremony shirt and I was so overwhelmingly hot in my wedding gown.
  4. Thank you guys so much. I revised the link once I figured out how to put the song on. Thank you for the nice comments about my dress, my mom made it (the white one not the reception sequin dress)! She was so happy when I called her to tell her all your lovely comments!!! We were amazed at how beautiful it turned out because she hadnt made clothes in like 25 years and she never made a wedding dress. I got married at the Marina Mayan and I used Prisar Vallarta as my coordinators. They were the best.
  5. I also got my video back but I can't figure out how to get the file onto youtube yet. I will post that shortly! And I love the photos but i have to say the video is my favorite of the two! Untitled by christine4979
  6. Wow, it sounds like you had a very special trip! I remember when I got back from my scouting trip I felt such a sense of relief when I saw the Mayan and met with Prisar. I'm happy everything went so well for you. Love those turtles:)
  7. I got them in Vegas at the Aladdin mall at a very large tourist shop. I cant remember the name. It was an impulse buy, because as soon as I saw them I fell in love and had to get them. But I had to get more later from a beverage store in LA, Bevmo. They would probably have them at any large beverage shop.
  8. Mora- Priscilla was the main person I spoke with, but I defintely worked with Hector as well, he is great too. They are married, so they are a great team. I chose the Mayan because Priscilla really impressed upon me that it was exactly what I was looking for. When I got to PV and saw the Mayan I knew she was right. I have recommended the Mayan to so many girls now. They and myself have Priscilla to thank for it. As far as I know no one else has gotten married at the Mayan yet on the forums, so I think I was the first? I wouldn't have ever heard about the Mayan if it werent for Priscilla, and I found her on a mexican wedding site equivalent to theknot.com. The Westin is really beautiful too but the Westin is not appropriate for a small wedding like mine. I went to a gorgeous wedding that Prisar did at the Westin on the patio, but there were about 150 people there and the space seemed awfully big for that amount of people. The Westin's spaces are better for large weddings. They dont have any intimate spaces. The Mayan can accomodate both small and large weddings. I havent posted any pics/video yet. I used the same company for photography and videography and the pics are finished but my husband and I just finished choosing our wedding video songs so we should be getting it all together shortly. JaimeLynne- I chose to use an outside WC for several reasons. First, I have seen weddings that Marco did by himself and I was not very impressed. Secondly, Priscilla ended up planning not just my wedding but two welcome parties and a brunch, which were all great. In the end she also saved me an unbelieveable amount of money. She took care of details like champagne being delivered to my bridal suite, getting my hair extensions done at a great place, driving me all over to appointments when neccessary, getting me special gifts for my guests, and being the contact go-to person for my guests in Vallarta when they needed something. She would have done the welcome bags too if I didnt want to do them myself, and Im leaving out a ton of other details I cant even think of or list them all now. An in-house planner wont do those things for you. Priscilla and Hector even recommended the cool after hours clubs to our group so we didnt end up at the cheesy tourist PV nightlife places. They really formed our wedding experience into something spectacular. I would definitely hire them again!!
  9. Yay for you!!! Definitely check out el mercado municipal. It is just south of downtown PV and you will find all kinds of great knick knacks and things for your welcome bags. It is just rows and rows of vendors with great deals. I found beautiful canvas bags for the welcome bags that said "Puerto Vallarta" and had cool pics of either iguanas, dolphins, fish, etc.
  10. We put all of our welcome bag things in three large luggage bags and luckily it got there okay. I just packed the patron bottles carefully with styrofoam sheets. The mini bottles are so cute and everybody went crazy over them. You should check with your WC to see if they are available in PV, although I doubt it. On our return we had expensive champagne bottles that my husband's family brought from France that we didnt want to leave in Mexico. We wrapped them in my juicy sweats and put them in our luggage and they got back okay too!
  11. Spiaggia is beautiful. One of my favorite PV restaurants. It is classy and has a great lounge area that can be rented for after hours. It is pricier than the average PV restaurant though. Also, if you are staying at Dreams make sure you make it down to Le Kliff. It has a breaktaking view and the food has been wonderful the two times I have eaten there. The website looks super cheesy but IRL it is actually very nice.
  12. I have worked with both Dazzling Details and Priscilla and Hector from The Dazzling Details. I would not recommend The Dazzling Details. If you would like details of my experiences please PM me.
  13. I put mini bottles of Patron in the welcome bags. They all made it to Mexico just fine. I was a big dumb dumb and bought them here. Although honestly I don't know if they are available in a small town like PV. If you want something specific to PV you can get little dolls dressed in traditional Jalisco dresses. That is the only thing I can think of. Some other things I put in: stainless steel flasks engraved with "Christine & Jeff May 27, 2007" silver wine stoppers in a heart shape pepto bismol advil water bottles chips ahoy cookies maps itinerary PV magnets toys for the kids All of the above I got at Walmart except for the Patron, flasks, wine stoppers and maps.
  14. Jaime Lynne- I'm sorry I have no idea where the cake was from, my planner, Priscilla got it. I had 60 people and we mostly stayed at the Marriott. I like the Westin a lot but if people stay there, you have to consider that they will most likely see the ceremony/reception site prior to the wedding. People get bored very easily so I didn't want this to happen. I have mixed feelings about the Marriott. I loved it for my guests to stay there because I wanted a big hotel with a resort feel and also it has excellent service. I wasnt crazy about the decor. I personally like more modern decor, but in the end the Marriott was a great choice for the group as a whole. The price was also great! Lorilou- We got my husband's suit in downtown LA at a tailor. But my father and brother-in-law found great white linen suits at Loehmann's in LA. My dad and brother unfortunately couldnt find white linen suits in DC. Especially because I decided 6 weeks before the wedding I wanted an all-white wedding! Linen is the way to go, especially if you are getting married in the heat of May. After the ceremong my husband and I changed. In the fireworks pic, my husband took of his jacket and changed into a Hugo Boss white linen shirt which was great in the heat. Amy-my sig drink was mojitos, they were great. I also wanted blue margaritas!!! A blue drink would be awesome, to match the bar and pillars. My husband didn't like the idea because we served margaritas for the two parties we had on the nights prior to the wedding.
