i had pashminas for the ladies and some used it. i was so drunk at the wedding that i didn't notice......................but on other nights, it was definitely chilly enough for something.

Lots of yellow, pink and orange. Our flower arrangement is yellow rainbow orchids in those tall vases filled with water and a floating candle at the top. I sent the pic to Ana and am waiting to hear back to see if they can do it. Thanks for the advice about picking it up myself if they can't do it. They are fairly simple to make.

I have thought bout the welcome baskets, I think we are going to fill it with mini size lotions, SPF, bug spray, aloe Vera etc. We are also going to put this really cute door knob hanger that you can download from Martha Stewar.com. They are designed so that your guests can hang them on their hotel room door and they know you can find them. We are also printing out our guests room numbers so everyone knows where to find each other. Hotel info and restaurant info and excursion brochures will also be in there. I also want to write each guest a personalized thank you note to be put in their room when they arrive. I will be hitting up the dollar stores of course. Lol.

soooooooooo i'm totally stalking you ;)

actually, i wanted to see juan navarro and came across your last post. i did want to tell you (and the other ladies here) that you should be really careful with door hangers. it will tell other guests and employees who is and isn't in their room. there's a thread or some posts around here somewhere about people who did that and subsequently were robbed.

    carry on.... :)

Question--our wedding and reception are on Seaside Beach.  I have been to weddings before where the bride placed a basket of beauty products in the ladies bathroom for her guests to use throughout the evening (like hairspray, lotion, floss, tissues, etc.).  I'd like to do this as well, but I have no idea where the ladies' room is in relation to Seaside Beach, and if this would really work (i.e., would other guests leave the basket alone?).  Thoughts?

Also, are anyone's guests getting upset about the new US State Dept. Travel Warning posted 4/22?  I've received a couple of emails from concerned guests, and I'm not sure what to tell them.  We had been planning to do a pub crawl downtown after our bonfire on Thursday, but now maybe that's not such a good idea.

not sure what seaside beach is, but if it's in front of oceana, or by the las palmas, then there is a bathroom right there. i think it has one stall, mayyyyybe two, and is still available to the public. if seaside beach is in front of seaside grill, then i have no clue where the bathroom is, but i would assume that since it's near a bunch of restaurants, there would be a lot more traffic.

And glad to hear your details are getting nailed down.  6 weeks!!!  I can't wait to hear you're review once you get back!

i had runners. food and drink allowed in.

I also just scheduled my couples massage that comes with the package and they asked where I wanted it.  Did anyone have it on the beach (which is an option) is it private?  I don't think I want people walking by when I'm getting a massage..;)

i think they have curtains, but am not positive.

I saw earlier posts from other brides that said they were able to choose their menu as long as they told Dreams in advance and where each guest was sitting.  Did anyone else hear this?  I am sooooo frustrated at this point with all the different info I'm getting.

    Thank you!

they told me the same thing 3 years ago. i told them to stuff it. eventually we were able to pick 2 dishes and have the guests decide beforehand.

you want something, demand it. then get it in writing. bring printouts of everything.

Also I have seen pics on dreams fb page with brides toasting right after the ceremony with colorful cocktails..They look delicious..:-). Does anybody know how much extra that is instead of champagne?

i'm sure it wouldn't be extra, you just have to ask.

try doing a search for the price sheet. i know it's been posted here several times.

Any recent brides, did you have any favorite bars or clubs downtown?  Especially ones that are not really touristy?

On another note, does anyone have any pictures of the "Sports Bar" at Dreams that they could share?  I understand our wedding has to be off the beach by 10:30pm, and we plan to continue the party at the Sports Bar, but I have no idea what to expect/if I should try to bring some sort of decorations, etc?

i'm sure the dreams coordinator would be happy to help you! also, if there are 30 of you, you'll certainly make your own fun no matter where you are!

don't bother w/ anything for the sports bar. the decor in there kinda reminds me of "saved by the bell" but i'm not sure why. there are (were, at least) two pool tables, some tables and bar stools, a dance floor, and a tv. again, it's not part of your actual wedding, and you'll make your own fun, so don't bother.

we had a welcome dinner. imo, and in my area, a rehearsal dinner is usually just for the people in the wedding and real out of towners. we called ours a welcome dinner since everyone was from out of town, but not everyone was in the wedding. we gave the gifts between dinner and dessert - but ours was at barcelona tapas. i think a rehearsal AND a welcome dinner would be crazy - too many planned dinners!

i got stuck in your box here :)

our TA got us upgraded to a room w/ a jacuzzi, but if we didn't have it, we wouldn't have missed it. it really is just a big bathtub, and to be honest, it skeeved me out a bit.

I want to set-up a welcome dinner so my guests can all meet each other. Are you guys doing welcome dinner or drinks? Since it's an all inclusive hotel, how do I go about reserving a section (about 35 people) so we can have a little privacy. I don't want to book the whole restaurant, just put in a reservation for 35 people and hope we can all eat together in one area?

    Thanks,

    ~ Lea

like someone else said, no reservations - which is what i liked about dreams - and don't be surprised if 35 people can't sit together; it wouldn't be fair to other patrons!

Thanks for the info. We are having a bonfire are our wedding reception at Las Caletas already so I didn't want to repeat that at Dreams PV.

I think I will just tell my guests to meet us for dinner at one of the resorts restaurant at a set time and whoever shows up, we will just be able to sit-together. I will make it informal.

I originally planned on having welcome dinner OUTSIDE of the resort, but it's out of budget and since the food is free (included) in the resort, we might as well take advantage of that.

Sadly my resort has cakes that..... let's just say I can do a better job :( lol

I'm from NY/NJ and cakes are like important as our wedding dresses...lol

So I'm doing the next best thing...fake! It doesn't cost that much, will look beautiful in pics, they leave a hidden slice behind so that you may insert a piece of cake for the cake cutting ceremony and either have the resorts cake in the back to serve.... or I'm thinking of just going with the desert table that is all ready included in the menu, since cake usually always goes to waste :(

I'm interested in knowing what you ladies think?

I'm getting my cake from  www.cakesconfidential.com Burgundy_and_Ivory_Fake_Wedding_Cake__17894_zoom.jpg instead of the flower I want a large pencil starfish, the fondant will be a pearlized teal and the ribbon color will be coral.

They are chaging me $235 for it.... :)

i'm from nj, and my cake was not that important.

so what are you actually going to serve to the people who are expecting teal cake?

i had orange, but i brought it. they were window curtains that i bought at ikea for like $10. imo, if you want that, buy a few yards at a fabric store. will cost you a fraction of the price and take up the same amount of room as a few tee shirts.

And I've asked about fabric for the huppah and it sounds like even the regular white material they charge you for.  Not sure how much though...

    Sarah

sarah, i didn't even use vases. i just put them on the table. they were big enough and between the flowers, the candles and all of the dishes/silverware, there wasn't a ton of room left!

We had the ultimate package last May & used the white linens & covered chairs. I love the tifanny chairs, but, like Kerri, couldn't justify paying extra for something no one else would notice. We did pay for floral centerpieces, but only needed 3 (I think) b/c we reused the one from the ceremony table (I think they included a 2nd one for something - maybe the cake table?)  We brought votive holders from home, 24 total - 4 for each table (we had 5) & 4 on the cake table, and bought votive candles at Walmart when we got down there. Didn't have an issue with wind - they all burned down throughout the night.

I have read in this forum that you can purchase bottles of wine through the resort- any idea how much these are?

Have any of you asked whether you were allowed to bring in your own wine that you bought in PV?

Also, we are wanting to do a tequila shot (or sip for some) for the bestman's speech - do they provide good quality tequila for this or would we have to pay extra? or bring in our own?

    Thanks!

the wine was fine. if i recall correctly, it was the same stuff that you could buy bottles of. the bottles were $$$$$$$ for what they were.

i was told that you cannot bring your own wine into the resort and have them serve it. may have changed...but doubt it.

specify the tequila. they have top shelf stuff and bottom shelf stuff. specify what you want and i'm sure they'll accommodate you.

  12. i bet the tealight holders are from my wedding. i'm still mad that i never got my crap back...anyway.

don't get/use tealight holders if you can help it. it was a bit breezy the day we got married so the candles would not stay lit. tealights in a votive holder would be ok though. we had plain white chairs - i couldn't see the need to upgrade. they're not brown and brass folding chairs from 1973, if that helps. we also got orange overlays for the table at $7/table, i believe, maybe $8. i had 3 bms and 3 tables, so we used their bouquets as centerpieces, and my bouquet at the sweetheart table.

to be honest, i'm sure if they'll nickel and dime you if you ask for things. there wasn't much available as far as decor when i got married, but anything i asked for was crazy - colored napkins were like $3/napkin and the centerpieces that i was interested in would have been hundreds of dollars - $ for candles, $ for candle holders, $ for rocks in the bottom of the holders, etc. i don't remember the exact amounts, and like i said, there wasn't much available, so it might have been more $ for me b/c dreams had to rent/buy the stuff from another place. that being said, if i hadn't asked for the centerpieces or napkins, they wouldn't have even told me about them, and i wouldn't have felt nickeled and dimed. i hope that makes sense, it's late and i have mommy brain.

We have several children 6 and under that will be at the wedding and I know they won't last the entire reception. Does the resort have "night care" or will the parents of the guests just retire with their children?

i had 2, but i don't remember how old they were. i think one was 6 and one was 3 or 4? look in my planning thread for the activity books i made for them. i had the WC put them at their place at the table. they did leave early w/ their mom, who happened to be pregnant and exhausted anyway. i don't think there is night care, per se, but maybe babysitting? idk how comfortable i'd be with a strange babysitter though.

do you have emails that say that they're working on the contract? i know you said they were working on it 3 months back - maybe the 3 month delay will be enough leverage? i'd certainly fight that.
