  1. Here are some recent pictures of Austin (maybe~ if this works!) And here is his birthday invitation from last month:
  2. Since I haven't been on this site in FOREVER, I need to congratulate all of the new Mommies and Mommies to be! As someone whose first post on this thread was way back on page 7, I wanted to come back and see if anyone else is on baby #2 like we are! So far, I haven't seen anyone. It is great to see so many of you that I recognize from planning your weddings on this thread! If I can remember how to add pix here, I'll update my baby (who is 13 months now!). I hope to check back more often! Take care! Amy
  3. New on my thankful list this year, is my beautiful baby boy, Austin! Of course I am thankful for his daddy and the rest of our family and friends too! Amy
  4. Good luck, Lisa! Luke might even be here already now! Amy
  5. We got married at the RIU Playacar! It was great and everyone loved it there! Amy
  6. Karma, CONGRATS!!! Hannah is beautiful! Every time I've been on here lately, I've been holding a baby- and we all know how fun it is to try to get a complete thought out typing one-handed!!! So happy everything went well for you! Has anyone heard from Lisa I'm wondering if little Luke decided it was time?? Amy

If you go to your account, you should see a spot that says "credits", and it would be listed there. Hope that helps! Amy
  8. Congrats Martha!! I'd been waiting to hear how it went! Noah is beautiful!! And Susan is right~ it keeps getting better everyday! Amy
  9. I breastfed (and still do- exclusively) and the pain meds I was on were Norco and prescription Motrin. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck! Amy
  10. Hi Martha~ I had a C-section. Because of my gestational diabetes, ultrasounds, and Kevin's birthweight of 10 1/2 lbs., they thought Austin was going to be huge. He was 7 lbs. 14 3/4 oz. I was induced around 8:00 a.m., and everything was going fine until about 3 p.m. That's when his heartrate was dropping with my contractions. Later found out that was because the cord was around his neck and leg. The section was SO FAST!! I went into the room around 4:30, they called Kevin in around 4:45 and at 5:01, the dr. held Austin up above the curtain and said "hi Mom, hi Dad"! It took longer for them to "put me back together" than it did to get him out! While they were "putting me back together", we could see Austin across the room being weighed, measured, etc. He was placed on my chest when they were wheeling us to our room, and he breastfed as soon as we got in there. I had a very good experience with my C-section. I, too, did not want one, but it really turned out well. I do not feel any "less of a mother" for not pushing him out. I'm sure if you have any feelings like that, they'll disappear within a week of caring for your new little guy 24-7! In the hospital, it hurt when I coughed, sneezed, or laughed. Kevin changed almost every diaper there, because it was hard for me to move to get Austin. The mechanical bed was a huge help for me- as that was what was hard when I got home (pulling myself up in bed to feed him). I have a tri-level, and the stairs were not a problem for me at all. However, don't push yourself with the stairs if you're not feeling well. If I remember right, I think I took pain pills for 1 or 2 days after coming home. Honestly, you'll be surprised at how much you forget so soon! That's all I can think of for now~ let me know if you have any questions. Good luck! Noah will be here so soon now!!! Amy P.S. Just went back and re-read your comment about a low pain tolerance~ I am one of the BIGGEST babies you will ever meet! And if I could, I'd have another baby tomorrow!!
  11. I also loved it and thought she looked like she was having fun the whole time. I agree with Baldwin looking at the prompter- that was annoying! And I, too, am in love with Marky Mark!!! Did anyone else think Amy's bar commercial to Bruce Springsteen's "I'm no Angel" song was HILLARIOUS Her expressions were priceless! Ever since watching, i can't get that song out of my head and keep picturing that skit! Amy
  12. Wow Martha! I have never heard of Mastitis before breastfeeding either, but have heard that it is EXTREMELY painful! So sorry that happened to you! Hope you're starting to feel better now! Oh, if you're planning to BF, get used to the bra 24-7! Pretty much the only time mine comes off is to shower! As long as you have some comfortable ones, it's not that bad- and totally worth it! I know they have the video ones.....are they compatible with the tv I slept pretty good the first night, but last night, I kept waiting for him to wake up for his feeding (anywhere between 10 and 12), and HE DIDN'T WAKE UP UNTIL 4:30!!! I couldn't believe it! I was up doing school work since I was off today, finally got in bed around midnight, and didn't fall asleep until almost 2! He was stirring a little around 10, so I put his pacifier back in (another SIDS prevention measure!), and he was happy. We have the Summer video monitor- and LOVE it! Sometimes there is interferrence with the cordless phone, which just causes a little static, but I don't think there's interferrence with the fan (which I've been leaving on). It's great to see him on the TV all night, except last night it was keeping Kevin up- he asked if I could dim it, and I couldn't figure out a way to. Usually he's able to sleep with the TV on, so hopefully he'll get used to it! The best thing about the monitor is that I can see him breathing on it (his stomach/chest going up and down)! This monitor was around $200 or so, but worth EVERY penny! Karma~ Hope you're feeling better! Amy

  14. Here's how the night went: Austin fell asleep in Kevin's arms around 7:30, and I put him in bed at 8:00. He slept until 12:30 (which is usual for him), so I fed him and put him back to bed. He then woke up around 3:30 (which is earlier than usual), fed and changed him, put him back in the crib and he was not happy there! I think he was "too awake". Anyway, we have both had a cold for the last few days, and I was so tired I just put him in the co-sleeper at 4:00. He held my hand and fell asleep. SOOO, he started off in the crib- not TOO bad for the first night?? Glad it wasn't a school night- because I had a bad headache and felt awful this morning! Amy
  15. So I'm not a mommy-to-be anymore, but thought I'd get the most sympathy here~ Austin is sleeping in his crib for the first time tonight! I am SOOO gonna miss my little guy being in his co-sleeper up against our bed! I decided to put him in his crib because he's getting too big for the co-sleeper, and I'm sure he'll be rolling over soon (I've actually hoped for him NOT to roll over yet, to keep him in the co-sleeper this long!). We have the monitor all set up, attached to the TV (LOVE it! I can even see him breathing!). We also put a 2x4 under the head part of his mattress, which my mother-in-law insisted we do- she even brought it over (she did it with her kids- she's a nurse and said she doesn't know of any cases of SIDS in a car seat- where they are reclined- don't tell me if you know of any!). The ceiling fan is going and so is the little Homedics thing that shines animals on the ceiling. Anyway, wish me luck that I won't wake up on the floor next to his crib! Amy

I just love having him so close to me, and makes BFing in the middle of the night so easy!! Calia~ Thanks for the info about the humidifier to balance the fan. Austin has the frog one (I'm sure it's the same- didn't look at your link). We just hadn't started using it since he's in our room, but we will now. We have April Air in our furnace, but I'm sure the humidifier will be beneficial. Martha~ My fan's been going since I heard this info!! I told Kevin if "they" told me to line Austin's crib with Bingo Trolls to help prevent SIDS, I'd do it!!! That one REALLY cracked him up! Seriously, it (SIDS) is something you think about, and realize how lucky you are to have your beautiful baby. It was tragic when the pro football player lost his baby a few weeks ago. Amy

  19. We have 2 minskins (part Sphynx, part munchkin). Anyway, Kevin would really like to get rid of them. They are so lovable, but I don't have the time to give them the attention they need (and deserve). Now that I have Austin, teaching, and selling lia sophia, I'm lucky to get my house cleaned and my papers graded. Kevin wants to get rid of them because he is sick of the litter tracked everywhere in the kitchen and the marks they leave everywhere (they need to be bathed/wiped down- and I don't have time to do it). Kevin has never been a cat person, although he did get close to them before Austin. SOOOO, after him talking last night about how we really should think about getting rid of them, he just called for me to come quickly~ THEY RIPPED THROUGH THE SCREEN DOOR IN THE KITCHEN AND WERE OUT ON THE DECK!!!! Now, they are not outdoor cats (declawed). Anyway, now we need to get a new door, and he's even madder! I don't know what to do! I've never gotten rid of a pet before, but I know our life would be much easier if I didn't have them. I wish I could find someone who could give them the time and attention they deserve~ but I'm not sure how to find that person!!! Anyway, thanks for listening!! Amy
  20. MAN! What channel is it on? I missed it!!! Hopefully they'll repeat the first one?? Amy

  22. OMG!!! I can't believe that dumb Chloe is Esther's daughter, Kate!!!!! What the heck happened to Kate anyway? Did she go away to some boarding school or something? You know, the one all Y & R kids go to and come back mysteriously older?? Did I mention I can't stand Chloe?? She's not even one who is fun to hate~ she's so messed up! Amy
  23. Congrats on the boy, Mo!!! Martha~ I had some weird wrist-hand issues too!! I would have to constantly twist my hands and wrists- seems like they felt weird right when I woke up, and after lots of walking. It's amazing what you forget about pregnancy! It's hard to even believe I had the belly I had!!! I do have to say though, that I was different from most of you because I couldn't wait to wear maternity clothes and show off the bump! Amy
  24. Congratulations Julie!!! Hope all is well with you and the baby. Can't wait to read all about it and see pix! We also have that Close and Secure Sleeper, but haven't really used it. Tried to use it with my niece when she was about 11 months (obviously too big for it, but I was afraid Kevin would roll over on her, so thought that would help). We have the Arms Reach Co-Sleeper (LOVE IT!), but I might have to try that other one again. Amy
