  1. For us, I'd say it was about 50/50 between the food and the rate on the room for the guests. That's what we negotiated the hardest and worried about the most when we were picking a place.

I guess I want some kind of theme (maybe a palm tree or something), but not quite as extensive as looking like a passport or boarding pass...probably more along the lines of a regular invite. And I'm looking for turquoise and green if possible (wedding colors). Thanks everyone for all these great suggestions!!
  3. Hey ladies...I'm looking around online for invitations and was wondering where others have ordered them from (or, could someone direct me to a thread where this has already been discussed?) I don't want to spend a ton of money but I'm definitely not talented enough to make them myself...definitely want something "destination" themed. Thanks!!

There is a really fun restaurant in the hotel zone called Bling...I have not had the food but went their for drinks and loved it, it's right on the water. Also, a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in the hotel zone. And...you may have already considered this but there is a really beautiful italian restaurant at the JWMarriott (forget the name), also haven't had the food but checked it out on my sight visit.

  9. I am getting these: FLIP FLOP TOTE BAGS Definitely only one per room b/c we have over 100 people coming.
  10. I had a great experience with them (I ordered sea shell return address labels for my STDs)...and the labels were shipped and arrived very quickly.

I am having a Catholice wedding at the gazebo at the Casa Magna Marriott in Cancun, with a reception afterwards at the Gran Melia Cancun. I think there are some others on this forum having Catholic weddings elsewhere in RM, eg. Playa del Carmen.

We ran into some other honeymooners in the airport and they stayed there - said they LOVED it. Definitely worth looking into - we're hoping to check it out one day for ourselves!! Anyway, Go to Palace Resorts - Welcome to the Official Site and see if they have one you might be interested in. :-) Also, my hair stylist is having her wedding in Playa - this week I think! I'll see where she stayed and let you know how she liked it. The great thing about the Palace Resorts (though some other chains may do this too) is you can register for honeymoon things on their website (eg. massage, lobster sunset cruise, etc.) We are doing part of our honeymoon at Cozumel Palace, part at El Dorado Royale.

I dont want to have the wedding/reception the day before people leave. Any suggestions? How did everyone else handle this? Am i overthinking this? Why not do Sunday to Sunday and get married on the Friday? That way the 3 night people can come Thursday -Sunday (and only miss one day of work).

Now i'm just trying to solve the mystery of why there is an english mass on sundays but no english priests to do weddings. The WC at the Marriott is trying to figure out what the story is...

I'd love any info anyone has on transporting guests...we are going to have to transport our guests (about 120-140) between the ceremony site and the reception site. Thanks!!

  17. My mom decided to wear something that will look good with the wedding color in photos and not clash, but isn't wearing the exact color. The wedding color is a light turquoise, and she is wearing a powder blue.

When I went on my first site visit and was looking at the wedding gazebo, my hair was blowing all over the place so I decided then that I need to wear it all the way up (rather than half up like I was originally planning).

So for the religious ceremony, apparently it can be done in any language we want.
  21. Could you do some dancing between courses during dinner?
  22. Ours is huge...8 on my side and ELEVEN on his! We decided not to worry about whether my number and his number were the same or whether we had too many and to just ask everyone we wanted to ask. Since they're not all standing up on an altar or anything, I"m not that concerned how it looks. I guess there is going to be some doubling up walking down the aisle.
