  1. Just wanted to let you brides know I got an email from Jacy today saying the resort won't open until Dec. 1. I emailed her to see if they could possibly move my wedding here but my date is just shy of the grand opening.
  2. I think the email was sent out only to the November brides. Parts of me thinks I should be thankful I finally got word from them about the situation but the other half feels I SHOULDN'T EVEN HAVE TO BE IN THIS SITUATION!!! I sent Sandra my list of guests (65ish) and it includes kids. I JUST REALLY HOPE THEY DON'T SEND US TO DREAMS CANCUN OR THE BARCELO MAYA. What a horrible way to start the weekend.
  3. Alin, who did you talk to? And are you going to print your menus anyhow? I was about to print mine right before all this mess began.
  4. I just found this thread! Woo! Hoo! I love project runway!!! I don't want to ruin it for anyone but I'm extremely disppointed in who went home last night! Ugh! I really liked that person and think they are a great designer. That's all I will say for now. And yes, Kenley's dress was so ridiculous! Who would wear that!??!!?

Any thoughts? Has anyone been in contact with them more than I have? I thought DPA didn't open until Dec. 1. To be honest, I 'd rather go there than Dreams Cancun but I will miss the opening by just a couple of days. Also, even if they were to open in time for my wedding....would they be ready?! I'm sure the kinks would not have been worked out. And I'd be afraid not ALL the restaurants would be open by then. I keep joking with my FH about the whole situation. I ask him if he's sure he really wants to marry me because I have all the bad luck in the world! I mean...what the heck?! Why did this have to happen to us. One of the reasons I picked DT was because I believed it to be an established, reputable resort. Boy, was I wrong!
  6. Carina, that's such a tough call. I don't know what to tell you. Part of me says, just screw them and re-book with someone else but I know how much WORK that will be. As for them switching us to the Paradisus I'm not so sure that will happen. I think they will push very, very hard to switch us over to Dreams Cancun so they won't have to pay the extra $$$ to PRC. From what I've gathered, it was such an extreme, rare circumstance they decided to move Trish and Brooke.
  7. Thanks Tammy and Amesharpe. I will work on these letters and mail no later than tomorrow. My wedding is 7 weeks out! I'd like to know where the heck I'm gunna be saying "I do!"
  8. Just think. 40-50 years down the line. Who will be in your life? Who will not? As this planning process has gone forward I've noticed one thing. It really is about my FH and I. No one else. My FH will be there 40 years from now. And he is here today. When we first began dating we both agreed we would LOVE destination wedding. My mom freaked. She couldn't believe that her baby girl would be marrying on a beach, away from family. She really wanted to host this massive reception in honor of my FH and I. But I don't want that. My FH doesn't want that. And I always stood strong and said, sorry. This is about me. I LOVE the idea of marrying on the beach. I LOVE the idea of going away and becoming "one" on a beautiful beach. I know it's hard to let go of some family members who won't be able to be there. But my life with my FH is so important to me. And we both want to start it on the right foot. For us, it's committing to each other on the beach. And that's all that really matters. (so sorry if it's too much. I'm a dreams tulum bride and am stressing like there's no tomorrow. first thing I did when I got home...open up a nice bottle of red)
  9. Amesharpe, I'M IN! I'm just looking for a definitive answer. I hate this crap about "we will open for sure on the 6th". "We will definitely open on the 13th". Sorry, I don't believe it anymore. Just be real and tell us. Soooo, tell us what you think the plan is and we will move forward. Thank you for being the lead. I want a straight answer!

So I have just sent my girlfriends an email saying that it still look like the resort SHOULD be open by the 13th(not any other guests, don;t want to freak them out). My TA has asked that I start looking into alternative resorts....not good news. I know that Brooke and Trish went to Paradisus Riviera Cancun . I looked at the website and it looks nice and kids can stay there... If we have to move to PRC that is fine, whatever, but I am not doing planning anything again...no choosing flowers or cake or anything. I am tired and I will just go with whatever they have... ALERT---As I am writing this post, I just received a phone call from the Reservation Dept at Dreams. They asked me if I had children coming with me and the ages...I asked if the date of opening was pushed back again and she did not know. She said she did not have any new info.... Oh well, it will be sunny and tropical no matter where we go.... Anyone up for a martini? Someone from the reservations dept called you? Not a good sign. It doesn't sound like they are planning on opening the 13th. Hope I'm wrong. I just wish they would make up their minds and tell us where we are going so I can finish my DIY projects. I was about to print the menus for the reception...glad my print cartridge went out.

Thank you soooo much. I am trying to not freak out since I have 3 weeks to leave, but I just have to know my options or I'm going to go crazy! I toured this place when I went down for a site visit at Dreams Tulum. It's beautiful and the best part? Only about 15-20 min from airport! They have a huge indoor, a/c ballroom where you can have both your ceremony and reception. Their outdoor terrace is also pretty large but I'm not sure if it can fit 120. Funny, I just pm'd a Paradisus bride to find out if my wedding date was taken. Nice to know I'm not the only one thinking forward.
  12. I second that Mel. I would go insane without this forum. I try to get feedback/help from my TA but she's useless because she's pissed most of my 60+ guests didn't book with her. All she keeps saying is "I don't know what's going to happen but I I do know I'm not going to help relocate your guests. I wouldn't get paid for it." Nice. Don't worry, IT'S NOT A TA FROM THIS FORUM (that was my big mistake). I have also not told any of my guests for fears of cancelations or just more freaking out. But come the 13th and no DT yet, well, I'm gunna have to start pulling some hair out!

That doesn't sound super positive to me... I guess the silver lining is that included among my 20 guests, there are NO children. So I can stay at the Secrets Silver Sands, but I wonder if they'd let us re-book to Secrets Maroma Beach as I heard that location is nicer. Anyone know that? I say you put your foot down and tell them if it absolutely can't be Dreams Tulum the only other place you will go is Secrets Maroma. It's the least they can do! Plus, you're right, Secrets Maroma looks much better than the silversands. Give them as hard a time as they are giving us, and don't take no for an answer!!!!! You're lucky...I have 8 kids coming to my wedding so my options are limited!!!
  14. Has anyone gotten an email from Landy or Lizette? I haven't bothered to email because of the craziness.
  15. So sorry, Andrea! I've heard not good things about Fabio. Maybe try Nancy? Or maybe you can ask Carolina (the WC at the resort) to pull some strings for you. Are you getting married on the beach or the terrace?
  16. Does anyone know the exact opening date of Dreams Puerto Aventuras? I would rather go there than DC but I heard rumors they don't open until the first of december...just two days AFTER my wedding. I really wish they would make the exception at the Secrets resorts. I really don't care for DC.
  17. Your stuff is fabulous! And you are so organized! Congrats! I'm sure it will all look amazing. Can't wait to see pics when you get back. HAVE AN INCREDIBLE TIME!!!!
  18. Like everyone else has been saying....I am extremely sorry for your loss. I have a sister I hold near and dear to my heart and the thought of losing her brings tears to my eyes. I can only imagine the intense pain you are feeling. Go with your gut. There is no right or wrong answer here. IT'S WHATEVER MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER. I have no doubt all your guests/family will understand.

I know I am lucky that my wedding is a month away and Dreams Tulum might be open by then but I want to check out my other options in the meantime. Dreams Cancun isn't ideal for what I had in mind, remote location by the beach (Cancun is just too touristy for me despite the lovely spot they have to be married by the beach) and Secrets Silversands is apparently not RIGHT on the beach so I do not know what arrangements they can make for a bride wanting to be married ON the beach? Would love some feedback on this as I too cannot seem to get ahold of Landy or Lizet and my travel agent has advised that everything is just in holding. I am thinking that like the brave Trish (you go girl!), we are going to be heading there on our flight day and not knowing where we will end up. Tammy do you know if they will make an exception at these resorts regarding there no kids policies?! I know it's a long shot but I thought I should ask seeing I'm not interested in Dreams Cancun but have about 5 kids coming to my wedding.
  20. You go Trish! That's the spirit!! Can't wait to hear all the fabulous details!!! Have a wonderful time and forget all the commotion. You only get married once!!
  21. Sol, thank you sooo much!!! I wait anxiously for these updates. Not very good news but at least it's real news from someone way at the top. Thanks again!

Does anyone know if that would be considered since they are only opening next moth? I wonder if they would even be experienced enough to do weddings? I asked my TA about Puerto Aventuras seeing as it's newer and more secluded then Dreams Cancun. She tells me Dreams Puerto Aventuras doesn't open until Dec. 1 so therefore it's not an option for my wedding. Maybe they will rush the opening because of what's happened to DT?!?!? The experience issue doesn't worry me so much because I'm hoping Landy/Sandra/Lizet will be relocated to these resorts to handle all of our weddings. Don't know though! I'm just wondering when and if we draw the line and say..."I'm tired of not knowing...I'm going somewhere else". I really hope that doesn't happen though.

I do have faith though that no matter what the people at Dreams Tulum really do want to help anyone affected any way they can. Its nice to think that they are willing to help. Gosh, this sucks. There is no better way to put it. And honestly, even though I may sound like a negative nelly, I expected this. I just think if they had all the paperwork and licenses in order then it shouldn't be a difficult case to present to the judge. It should be resolved in a matter of days not weeks. But since they are pushing it back...well, I just don't know. I am really clueless as to what to do. I've looked at Dreams Cancun and although it's nice, it's definitely not what we were looking for.
  24. I'm not trying to alarm anyone but I just read the latest newspaper article on the situation and it does not look good. Here's a link (it's in Spanish): Riviera Maya: Confirma Profepa irregularidades en trece hoteles en Tulum It says of the 14 hotels being inspected only ONE has the appropriate licensing to operate. Goes on to say, if the owners of the 13 resorts don't present the proper documentation to prove otherwise by next week, then all will be permanently closed. Apparently, only a "partial" closure was called for so as to not disrupt tourism in the area. But the federal prosecutor believes he has given the owners plenty of time to come up with the appropriate licenses and if they don't present their case by next week, he will call for a definitive closure. I don't know what to think anymore.
