Also, if you have it on a weekday you have less chance of having other weddings the same day because most people want friday, saturday and sunday.
  2. I'm so excited, have to get my BDW time in now so I can sit on the couch the rest of the night, lol!

Also for the person wondering how far in advance to book, I just booked on January 7th for April 1st (I didn't realize it was April Fool's day! Although not as bad as Friday the 13th, and I hear April Fool's ends at noon and we are getting married at 4pm). When I booked that date, they had the 2 days before, and the day after also available at 4pm. Maybe April isn't that busy. They do up to 2-3 weddings a day, so I guess they have more availability then the places that do max 1 per day. They must have changed this because when I was married there they were only doing one wedding a day, two only if one of the weddings was very small.
  4. I'll change the title for you it was funny though!
  5. I got rid of my middle name and kept my last name as my middle name. This way I can use it when I need it, (because of my job) I wonder why you can't do that in NY?
  6. thank you! Well, I had Citlalli from Claudia Rodriguez's studio booked, but she got really sick (I think food poisoning) so her and her husband Erick, who also shoots, were both sick. So claudia called me that morning and told me that she had to send someone else, I can't remember his name but he was very nice and he did a good job, so I was happy.
  7. thats really short notice!! I would say don't go, but you do work with the guy, do you see him everyday? Maybe you could just make an excuse, because its such short notice, you can't make it you already have plans or something. If you're not even friends with her I think its kind of rude that they invited you to the shower, but not the wedding.
  8. Jenn, everything looks fantastic!!! I love the bags & towels, and the brochure is great! Your guests are going to be so impressed!!
  9. What's the shop going to do if you just never pick up your dress?? I am assuming you still owe at least part of the money for the dress, I know I only paid half up front. So you could fight them for a refund because your wedding is coming up soon and you need your dress, but if they said no, then you're only out half the money and you could just not pick it up. I know that probably sounds horrible, but if you don't want to have to spend more money on it this would solve the problem
  10. when you had first posted a thread a few weeks ago, of the dress on the models, I loved the dress you bought, but now seeing them on you, I really love the casablanca dress too! It had seemed like the lace one flared out in the model pic, but it really doesn't at all its very straight.
  11. I love the flipping the hair picture! Seriously, all of your pictures are gorgeous, Elizabeth did a great job!

Second question, I know you got married in the U.S. before hand and we plan on doing that as well. Can you offer any advice on how long beforehand you need to do it? If you took your husband's name, did you have your name changed legally on all of your Identification before hand? I've heard getting a new passport takes some time these days! Your photo's are amazing and you look beautiful, I am definitely looking in to that photographer! Thank you! I was happy with the majority of the pictures, they did a nice job. We got married in July, but we could have waited longer, it didn't really matter. I did change my SS card before we left and changed everything at work for insurance purposes, but other than that I finished everything else after the wedding. I still haven't changed my passport.
  13. also, I think I had asked about using the sound system for the reception, I thought originally they had told me you could hook up an IPOD to it, but then when I asked about that for the ceremony they told me only CD's, so I'm not sure, but I thought you could rent it to use for the night too, maybe I'm wrong.
  14. yes, its very windy, my hair was blowing all over, looking back I wish I had had my hair done in a style that was pinned to my head more because in my video I'm constantly pushing this one piece of hair out of my face. I also had a veil and because the few days before the wedding I had seen how windy it was out there I decided against wearing my veil, I knew it would just drive my nuts.

Not to mention answers to most of my questions and awesome tips. Congratulations to those who just recently got married! I am probably most concerned still about the weather in November and the reception site. I know that SusanK said she had hers on the terrace and had dancing so I would love to know how that went. I think I will have about 35-40 guests. If TiffJT can PM me the 2008 menu/price list that would be great! Look forward to hearing how Paula's wedding goes... Also, we have a few DJ's in our wedding party so I won't hire one but I was unclear from the pricing: it looked like it was $180 an hour for just the equipment--UNREAL! I hope I interpreted that wrong. -Samantha you read that right, it is $180 just for the equipment, isn't that insane!! thats why we bought a docking station and brought our IPOD, we thought that fee was a big waste of money, might as well just hire a DJ! we had dancing on the terrace, but it is a little crowded. Mostly because of the pillars from the canopys, they're kind of in the way. Also, claudia had told us they would move the cake table and the guest book table after dinner so that we had room for dancing, but they never did. It wasn't horrible by any means, but it was a little crowded, I guess it depends on how many dancers you have in your group.
  16. I also spoke to Petra Maurus, very nice, I just liked claudias work a little bit more. Anny used cancun studios, her pictures are around here somewhere, I'll see if I can locate them.
  17. One of the dates available for me wasn't friday the 13th, but it was the 13th, and I didn't like that date, I know seems silly! They do weddings everyday. we booked almost a year ahead of time and the seem to be much busier with weddings now then they were when we were booking, so I'm sure dates book up quick. As far as a cake topper, depending on what you get for a cake, there is room for one, I forgot ours in our room, I didn't see it in the bag and never realized until the next day when I found it that I had forgotten about it!

I am hoping that area will be more sheltered from the wind then the terrace is, so I wont have to worry about the guestbook blowing all over the place. I think I might just set the basket up at the ceremony for the ladies to grab. Our ceremony is at 4 and it will start getting dark during cocktail hour, which means it gets chilly! Do you think it will look cheese to have a basket of pashs at the last row of chairs?? Maybe I should just wait till cocktail hour. Man these little things are starting to drive me nuts!!! Did all of your guests take the wraps? I dont want to get stuck with any!! There were a few left but I walked around and made sure everyone had them.
  19. I was married at dreams cancun, its beautiful and they do a great job with weddings. If you go under the Cancun/RM section of the forum you will find tons of info on dreams cancun and other resorts in cancun and maybe you'll be able to find some answers to your questions.
  20. DH loves watching the first couple of weeks of idol with me, after that he gets annoyed that I make him watch it every week, lol!
