  1. I would definitely move the crate into your room for the time being. If he is whining and doesn't have to go pee, just stick a finger in his crate for a few seconds to let him sniff and lick and he will know you are close by. Also, we've found with our new, young foster dogs that sometimes they are just missing their siblings that they are used to sleeping with. We toss a big stuffed animal dog in the crate with them and they usually cuddle up to it and settle down. And also, if the dog is whining or throwing a fit, never let them out of the crate until they calm down and behave in a positive manner. Good luck!
  2. Foxytv, I couldn't find the Shred dvd at any walmart but I did find it at Costco and it came along with 2 biggest loser dvds as well. One was weight loss yoga and another bootcamp one hosted by bob, the trainer guy. I know things are rather different between canada and the U.S. but its another option for those who cannot track it down.
  3. EricaG, I have been to Edson a few times for work and I wish that for you and your community they catch this guy FAST! No one should have to live in that much fear!
  4. They no longer allow bonfires at the RIU's. I think I was one of the first groups they cancelled on. too bad though because they looked awesome!
  5. We had "I cross my heart" as our first dance and "I Loved her first" for the father/daughter dance....The father daughter dance song was perfect!
  6. Kamay11, You have every right to be upset with the proposed meeting time. Honestly, she should know better than to even consider putting your meeting on your wedding day (like you have nothing to do that day already)...I would explicitly tell her that is unacceptable. When I got married there last year our meeting was on the Tuesday and we were married on the Friday and I almost thought that wasn't early enough...haha. There is no reason that she cannot fit you in earlier in the week.
  7. Tammy, I'm so sorry about the worms. Yes, its gross and nasty but easy to fix. In the meantime, swear off the rice and hire a cleaning lady!!! I guess the good thing is that the worms are dead right? Anyway, we have put our dog on a regular deworming schedule with all the fosters we get in. We deworm the fosters three times and sometimes they still need more....eeeewwww. Just a suggestion so your own pups don't get the worms.
  8. Drea, Those pictures are awesome! Nice work....what a great puppy! I cannot tell you enough how much it means to us when adoptive families send us pictures and stories about how the pups we fostered are doing. It really brightens my day. So I just wanted to thank you and encourage to always keep in touch with Shyla's foster family.
  9. Hi Natasha, If you send me an email to [email protected], I can reply and send you some photos from my reception there.
  10. Hi Stephanie, We are fostering from a rescue foundation so it's not just one breed. They have lots of larger dogs, mostly shephard, rottweiler, or husky crosses. They usually come from the reserves or garbage dumps and are in pretty rough shape. A little love and food and time and they are much better. We are on #2 right now. Sometimes I wonder how people can be so cruel. Our new guy is so scared of everything. How are things going?
  11. so cute! Congrats....and the bigger they are = the bigger the cuddles!
  12. Aw Tammy, I am so sorry! I know there isn't much to say to make it feel any better but I think cookies helps everything - even if just a little. Give Cain a big hug and think of all the dogs you have been able to find excellent homes!
  13. Congratulations Stephanie, We are on our first foster dog too. We've had her for just about 3 weeks now. It's an adventure for sure. Hopefully we'll be able to talk eachother through some of the more trying times......good luck!
  14. Haha Tammy - Never say never. I'm not surprised that you are considering taking in more puppies once you saw their cute little faces!!!! They are adorable. Thank goodness Lady didn't have to stay with you too long. Just think, even TWO puppies can't be as bad as one Lady! Good luck!
  15. I sure hope you take a deep breath and smile and think how great the dogs are doing in their new homes. You and Cain have done such an amazing job Tammy! Enjoy the calm while you can!!!
  16. Hi katsmeow, I was married at the RIU Palace last November and we didn't pay for anything upfront before we got there. Payment was required in full the day before or morning of the wedding but that's it. You can still communicate with the wc and book all the private events before hand. I would recommend double checking on your reception bookings prior to leaving though as I heard of a few wedding parties having to relocate at last minute because of double booking....just a thought! I would double check if policy has changed since then but I would assume you don't have to pay anything now at all!
  17. Hi Tammy! We are fostering from a local rescue foundation where we got our dog, Reese. Usually the dogs come from reserves or garbage dumps unfortunately so they are not one specific type but mostly shepherd and collie crosses. We just got a 1 year old collie cross named Patches. She was so nervous and scared but she seems to be coming out of her shell already. I'm already dreading the day she gets adopted. You and your husband are such great people!
  18. Congratulations Tammy! She is so adorable! We were at the dog park this weekend and saw three BT's and I could only think of you and all the great pictures you post. We just got our first foster dog last night....what an adventure!
  19. Bradley, I was married at the RIU Palace in November of 2007 and had no issues getting an outside photographer and videographer onto the grounds, although I did have to pay the $75 day pass. I did hear many rumblings on this forum after my wedding about having difficulties getting a photographer in for the ceremony or something though. As for the outside vendors, I was told absolutely NO to hair and makeup personnel as they have a spa onsite....needless to say the quality was not comparable whatsoever. Honestly, my thought would be to not tell the wc's anything and just have the photographer/hair and makeup vendor come straight to your room and skip the whole front desk thing altogether. Maybe that's not right but I don't think anyone really 'patrols' the whole entrance thing at all. Make sure you count the outside vendors as a guest when asked how large your group is for dinner. I think at some point the RIU really has to realize that they are shooting themselves in the foot! I was also told that I only have to pay the day pass fee if the vendor was staying for dinner. I only hired my videographer for the ceremony and had no issues whatsoever.

  21. Hi Tammy, And no I didn't ask Juan for one picture. I was expecting to receive them in the next 2 weeks so I thought I could wait. I will email and ask him for just one. I just didn't want to bother him because I can only imagine how many others email him everyday to check on their pictures and ask for teasers. I just thought after he didn't give Nicole a teaser that he wouldn't do that anymore....but you are right and I will ask him for just one. Poor guy must still be so so so busy!
  22. I don't mean to hijeck this thread but I know I can find Aimee here. The pics you posted look amazing. Just wanted to know how you coaxed Juan for your pictures. My wedding was at the beginning of November and I have been waiting patiently not emailing him or bugging him about the pictures. I was sure that I would receive them within the 3 month timeframe after all his recent issues. Well I emailed yesterday just politely checking in and stating that he still has 1.5 weeks and he replied basically that he doesn't know when they will be done but he is close - which to me interprets that They will be late because I haven't even looked at them. I've been waiting for the pictures to print some and send out with my thank you cards and now I'm feeling guilty because I am waiting so long and people may think I'm ungrateful!
  23. Ok well I have been waiting for something concrete to happen before I updated this thread but well, that could take forever. I have been in contact with the RIU Palace myself and also through my TA for the past 2.5 months. They have agreed to refund my $500 for the double reception charge and that is it. This was guaranteed on December 28 and I am still waiting for the money to be put back onto my credit card. My TA inquired last week and they said it takes usually 4-6 weeks for the refund. I will update when I receive the money. I am not happy with this amount but after fighting for so long you take what you can get. Unfortunately, I still get all frustrated and upset when I knitpick at the details that went wrong that day so it's easier for me to just forget it all....right or wrong. My pictures of the gazebo have flowers sitting on the ground at the bottom of the pillars because Daniela didn't hang them until we were signing the documents - so I cannot completely forget! I have noticed that on my correspondence with Daniela that there is another wedding coordinator at the RIU so hopefully that will help alleviate some of the issues I had.
  24. Thanks Aimee, I didn't have the best experience but I'm getting over it. I am married and am trying to just remember the things that did go right. I love Cabo and am so excited that we got married there and had beautiful pictures on the beach (still waiting on Juan for those). You cannot beat a backdrop like Cabo! Glad to hear that you had a much better experience and yes, we both should have had Adriana!
  25. I was married at the RIU Palace in November 2007 and myself and my guests truly loved the resort. I'm likely not the best judge on quality as this was my first all-inclusive vacation but some of my guests are worldly travellers and they are even talking about going back. I would recommend the resort but did have many issues with Daniela. I will admit that Daniela was extremely responsive but that's where it ended for me. I have noticed that there is another wedding coordinator now at the RIU so hopefully that will help things. Please visit the wedding reviews thread and read my review for all the details (I hope some issues have been ironed out since then)...KACENGG'S RIU PALACE Cabo San Lucas Wedding Review.
