We'll be in Vallarta for two and a half weeks, so we'll have the time to explore! I was married at this very small Inn in Todos Santos and they had just had a Gay wedding there and I was sendt the pictures. It was gorgeous. There are some places that are very friendly and there are others that just aren't. It is too bad. You would be surprised how accepting most Mexicans are of Gay coupples. Hope you have a great wedding.

So is it really possible to give the bags to FI if he is first and gets a green light? Or do they really catch on to that? another reason not to do oot bags and maybe buy gifts down there?? Hmmm It is possible to do the swicheroo on the baggage plus kind of legal. You and your FH (and other family members if you want a third option towards a green light) will have to fill out seperate declartion forms. Then you will each kind of stand toghether with luggage but have him hand his form to the customs agent and he will press button. If he gets green have him grab ALL of the luggage but maybe leave one with your clothes. You will act as if this is your luggage and go through the same procedure. Most of the international airports are a mess each time a flight arrives and you can do this pretty easy. Just go over the system with your family or FH.
  3. Tammy - Ikea has some great rods and curtains. They also sell the clips.
  4. Same goes for OOT goodies. If you are caught you would be liable for fines plus tax. It IS a good idea to have a $50 or $100 dls. bill in your pocket just in case you do have to pay someone a "tip" My best advise always is to do things and ask for forgiveness later and always act dumb. Sadly, If you do try to do things right you probably will get swamped in paperwork!!
  5. Photog: since they (I assume) do not have work permits for the events they are shooting -they have to sneak their equipment into Mexico. As tecnically they are in mexico as tourists they are only allowed one video camera and one regular cammera per person. If they are caught they would have to import their equipment to the tune of up to 35% tax on the value of the equipment plus fines.
  6. http://cgi.ebay.com/X-LARGE-Serape-S...QQcmdZViewItem This is probably what you pay for the same in Mexico w/o the shipping charges.
  7. what about using on your tables "mexican" style oil cloth- You know the one I'm talking about! The one all of us latinas grandmas had on their kitchen tables. Bright colors and fruit or flowers all over them. You can but them by the yard cheap. http://www.elinterior.com/images/gallery/oil_rolls.jpg SAMPLE Under fruity http://www.stupid-cupid.net/catalog/...sort=2a&page=2
  8. Check out this "loteria de la Mujer" so cute http://www.artecrisol.com/loteria.html

Also what about something like this: in several shades of red and green http://www.marthastewart.com/portal/...&rsc=ns2006_m8
  10. What about all pinks but leaning towards the dark dark pinks almost marron. I think there is a picture of a bouquet in the BDW starfish pictures that would be amazing with the copper.
  11. this should help http://www.puertovallarta.net/fast_f...-groceries.php Ley, Gigante, Soriana are all great grovery stores that will also have great deals on liquor.
  12. Try looking for an ISSTE store. It is a government subsidized store and probably the cheapest place to get liquor. They will have limited choices but they do have great chilean wines, Mexican wines, good tequilas, etc. I know the place in Cabo has Absolut, Chivas, etc..
  13. Us laws are based on English or Common Law and Mexico law is based on Roman law. So there are MANY diffrences. ie: innocent until proven guilty- that does not exist in Mexico. You are assumed guilty until you can prove otherwise.
  14. Here is a good article on what it all means: http://banderasnews.com/vallarta-wed...riage-laws.htm
  15. If you are getting married in Mexico civil law states that you must specify your conjugal property status. In Mexico, you have the option to marry under one of two legal regimes: (régimen de sociedad conyugal) legal society or (régimen de separación de bienes) separation of property. Legal society “régimen de sociedad conyugal”: Under this regime, both parties equially share both properties and debts through out the marriage. Separation of property”régimen de separación de bienes”: Under this regime, what's yours is yours and what's your partners is your partners.- applies only to premarriege properties or future inheritances. properties bought during the marrieage are common property unless specifically specified in th etitle. ie- if the title is in both names it is owned by both parties. If the property is in the name of the bride then it is HER property only. It also applies to debts and any outstanding loans.
  16. YUp. Me too sorry! I do love La Paz though! They also have some really cheap houses!!! I was offered a 3 bedroom house in a private gated comunity for $94,000 usd. Furnished!! It was the show house. It was the only one left!! The one in the web page is the one that is being sold. Two stories modern. || Desarrollo Corporativo Peninsular, S.A. de C.V. ||
  17. Definitely way cheaper BUT there are some drawbacks. Most hotels aren't as nice as Cabo. It is a CITY it is not as tourist oriented. Only some airlines fly into La Paz. It is cheaper to fly into Cabo. VERY HOT starting May 1st- Nov PLUS: Incredible beaches, great diving, swimming, boating, nice nightlife- much more laid back than Cabo, mariachis, flowers, vendors etc... MUCH cheaper. If I were to do a wedding in La Paz I would do it here. http://www.laconcha.com/ The Hotel is right on the beach in what is basically their own private beach. Plus right next door they have private condos that you can rent. They are awsome! 2 or 3 bedroom. The condo has it's own pool.
  18. Ok girls. I think I posted somewhere here that I am in the middle of planning a big party for my boss this weekend. We ordered flowers from Floreria Yolanda in La Paz. They gave us a really great deal. They were ridiculously cheap!!! We got tons of Gerberas from them. At $120 pesos ($12 dls) per DOZEN! YES! DOZEN!!! In Cabo we wre quoted $3 dls each! I went to pick them up yesterday. Here are the issues: The gerberas looked great only a coupple damaged. Most were huge with some medium sizes. We ordered 30 dozen in hot pink and 20 dozen in both orange and white. The hot pink arrived fine but we only received half of the orange and half of the white. Good thing I told her that if her supplier didn not have enough of one color to make it up with another. So we have tons of the hot pink! Not a big deal. We did have to pick them up but they would have delivered witha an additional fee. At the prices they are charging it would not be a bg deal to pay an additional fee. Here is their info: Maria Elena -owner email: marieli19@hotmail.com tel: 011 52 612 12 25420 I do not think they speak english They were very nice but again have a backup plann if her supplier can't get you the exact product you want. give her options to work with. BTW: she quoted me $180 pesos ($18 dls) for 10 white and green callas - great price. In Cabo I had been quoted $5 dls each.
  19. I think there is a dollar store too! My aunt lives there and she mentioned it once.
  20. Definitely hit walmart- target and Kmart. Don't forget to go to Marshalls. They have great things!
  21. if you want classical type music.. you may like this: They are from the Puebla filarmonic (sp?) and are supposed to be fabulous. We are using them for one of my company parties. They are in Cabo through September and will travel anywhere in Mexico if needed. "Le recuerdo que nuestras tarifas promocionales hasta el 8 de agosto de 2007 son: Dúo de Violín y Viola u$s 300 por hora Solista(disponible hasta 2 septiembre) u$s 200 por hora" ensangelus@gmail.com Will post info on seperate thread for others.
  22. I love- any of these sliced with lime, salt & chili flakes (if you can find TAJIN- prepared chili flakes with salt already added- YUMM! It is sold everywhere in Mexico) watermelon jicama cucumber oranges mango papaya celery Did you know that a kilo of cucumbers is less than 100 calories!
  23. I had several baskets for everyones shoes where the sand started and then the white fabric to sit or stand on. Because the beach was cmpletely deserted it really looked great. Everyone loved it and it made the whole thing much more casual which was what I wanted. You have to remember that I had the church blessing right before so it was little bit of everything. In a pinch you could probably use top sheets I really liked the idea of blankets. The stripped mexican blankets would really look very cool on the beach.
  24. At my wdding we actually chose not to have chairs we had white fabric for people to either sit or stand on. Our ceremony lasted about 45 minutes. Everything worked out great! People loved it and probably about 20 people stood because they were taking pictures.
  25. Anny- Felicidades!! It looks perfect! I loved that you used the Anthuriums. They look very pretty. If I could redo my wedding I would also use the anthuriums with the roses! Felicidades again!
