Has anyone booked their Photographer into their hotel?

Recommended Posts

Our hotel charges a $300 fee for "outside" vendor (photography).  We are thinking about booking a room for our Photographer for the day of our wedding that way they are a "guest" with a fancy camera.  That way we avoid the fee and I'd rather put the money towards a room for my photog than give it to the hotel for nothing!

Has anyone had any experience with this?  Does it work?  Any idea where I would book this?  The hotel does not have "availabilities" on the website right now but I am told closer to the date they will.

Any information would help!!!

Ours does the same with the outside vendor fee and since I want my WHOLE wedding photographed (getting ready - reception + trash the dress) - photography packages are pretty expensive.  We decided to bring our own photographer -  we are paying for his trip and he is giving us a huge discount PLUS we will have rights to ALL of our pictures and have our photographer for as long as we want.  It has actually turned out to be cheaper than hiring someone there - I have seen brides sharing photographers too (splitting their trip) - just an idea :)

Some resorts have a minimum hotel stay to be considered a "guest" I believe.  I know my resort charges $1000 for outside vendors, and in order for them to be considered a guest they need to have a minimum of 3 nights stay.

We are bringing our own photographer because like MissClarke74 I want the complete wedding day coverage and TTD session.  My photographer won't charge us a fee, I just need to pay for her and an assistant's airfare and room.  I will be paying for 3 nights, but they are staying on the resort for 7 so they are getting a mini vacation out of the deal...lol... so it ends up cheaper for me and they practically get a free vacation.

I have heard of brides sharing a photographer as well... so that might be an idea for you...

Thanks ladies, we went ahead and booked our photographer, we are just going to suck up the $300.... now $400 vendor fee (Because of her assistant) as it is still cheaper than paying for the 3 nights.  we are getting up there in photography but I really like her work. I sort of wish nowI had checked out bringing a photog from home since the cost is working out to the same if not more now... oh well! Happy with our decision, just maybe not all the extra costs!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
