What Did a Travel Agent Do for You?

Recommended Posts

If I may ask, what did a Travel Agent do for you? I have spent hours & hours on the internet researching potential locations and resorts and am wondering how a Travel Agent can help. Did you use one and how were they able to help you? Also, how did you find a Travel Agent that had experience navigating the details of a Destination Wedding?

Thanks in advance!  You girls are AMAZING!!!

Michelle, you need to find a travel agent that specializes in destination weddings.

We are really lucky my Travel agent has done 125 destination weddings, she is also a friend of the family so she is doing so much extra for us! Normally she doesn't do the wedding coordination, but she is for us! Because she has done so many, she know the ins and outs of the industry and how to get what we want.

We used Gayle from Travel Haus St. Louis.  She did so much for us including free upgrades and a free cocktail party with hor doerves for 50 people!  Everyone was happy with their rooms and she communicated well with all of our guests.  I would hire her again in a heartbeat and I never met her in person, just dealt with her over the telephone and by email but she was always quick to answer all of our questions!

My travel agent is Susan Gill from www.allaboutdestinationweddings.ca/

I'd be absolutely lost without her.. I consider myself pretty good on the net and always able to find great deals and such but she got me amazing group rates for our trip along with some great perks. It's also so nice to have someone take care of getting everyone booked in for you. A lot of my guests wanted to customize their trip and then there have been others who were just complicated and she's dealt with them all. The best part.. she always emails me back the day of. That was the main problem I had when searching for a TA, I had emailed 3 before finding Susan and they sometimes took weeks to get back to me, or just didn't get back to me at all. I'd definitely recommend getting a TA.

Well, I am a person who likes to be in control of everything but doing something abroad, I knew I would need help.  I have been working with Teresa, and she is amazing.  Tammy, the host of this website, has some EXCELLENT reviews.  For me, a TA has been able to help me narrow down my options to fit with my budget, negotiate with the hotels for better room rates and I have only been planning for a few weeks now!  Happy Planning!

Our TA has taken some of the weight and pressure off us. Since we are having the destination wedding, we wanted to make everything easier for all of our guests. Working with the travel agent has allowed them to make payments on their travel packages on their terms, negotiated the group contract to ensure that we get everything that we want as promised, and is just making life easier. My FI and I constantly discussed whether or not we needed one, but since our STDs went out two weeks ago; the TA has already proven to be beyond helpful.

Hope this helps! Happy Planning!

Michelle:

Honest, without our travel agent I would have been so much more stressed out. She has done so many extras for us, she has gotten us the best deal on our jamaican resort, and she is my sounding board when i have any questions big or small.

TA will be able to do all the bookings for you and your guests, she will find all the best deals on flights and times of the year to travel...ours ended up saving us almost 1000.00 so in my opinion going with a TA is the only way to go.....they do all the work, you plan your wedding! its a great trade off.

I dont know where you live but here is our travel agent www.selloffvacations.com if you need her # or info...just PM me and ill huck u up lol

I couldn't agree more!  Without our travel agent I might have pulled all my hair out by now.  It is nice to have someone who can look after all the travel details so you can really focus on your wedding details!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
