Real brides vs. vendors?

Recommended Posts

I've spent quite a bit of time reviewing posts about vendors on this forum. At times, I wonder if some of the posts are by vendors posing as brides. There are some brides who have only posted maybe only a few times in a one year period, and those posts are providing favorable reviews of vendors. I'm just wondering how the forum moderators are able to address this issue, if it's an issue at all. Hope not to offend anyone who doesn't post a whole lot.

well we don't really like to say what we use as indicators because obviously the vendors that would pretend to be brides would then use that be sneakier but we have found out when vendors are brides.  just to be safe, if it were me i would feel more comfortable with a review from member with say 1000 posts than a review from a member with 1 post.

I was thinking the exact same thing! My photographer was horrible, and right after I posted my thoughts on her, a favorable review was posted raving about her. I found it a little too fishy. I do think it's good sense to see if a rave review of one vendor is the only thing a "bride" has posted.

These two are highly suspicious to me:

Both are rave reviews by one-time posters who seem to have registered simply to rave about Diana Campbell, but nothing else about their wedding. I find that odd. Also, I hired Diana Campbell and it was a disaster. Not at all like these reviews, so I find them hard to believe.

They definitely do. I was having concerns about planners a while back and the planner I was mostly dealing with said to me "I understand you are having concerns over which planner to choose!". This site is the ONLY way she could have known that. Things didn't work out in the end which was a real shame because we got on great, it was just a money issue.

I can understand why, as a vendor you would do it....I probably would if I worked in the industry in Ja or wherever but I think they can actually go on this as vendors can't they? A lot more straight up.

yeah, i would be suspicious as well.  one of the reviews did not conform to forum rules so it was moved.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
