Anyone not do a wedding video and regret it later?

Recommended Posts

We keep going back and forth on this.  I have had requests from family that can't come to have it videotaped.  But I really hate to spend the extra money.  I was just curious if anyone had decided against doing a video and regret it later.

We didn't hire a videographer and I do regret it.  My Uncle taped the ceremony with his camera, but you can't really hear anything because of the waves crashing on the rocks and he had to video it in 4 shorter videos b/c of his camera.  We wished we had a video because the whole ceremony was such a blur for my husband and I.  Between excitement and nerves, the whole day just flew by.  It would have been nice to have a good video to remember it all, especially our vows!!  On the flip side, I would not have paid thousands of dollars for this, maybe just bought a really good quality camera and tested it out before going to know sound would be picked up.  I don't know if I am helping you at all here!!

  • 1 month later...

I'm with you on this.  I am saving $1k by not having a videographer.  I have had many friends that have a video and they wait a year after the wedding to get it, and only watch it once or twice.  I don't know if I'll regret it later, but I am much more at ease saving the money now!!  I'm going to have a family member video tape a few important parts, like our vows, speeches, etc.

I'm not hiring a videographer either to try and save a bit of money. Instead, I'm planning on making a slideshow of our photos with some music in the background. It's not exactly a video, but it'll be something to watch when we want to reminisce!

I was unsure of this.. but I decided that we'll hire a videographer.  My best friend hired a videographer and she loves her video.. her sister even did the whole thing of having someone video tape the wedding.. and then afterward she had to hire someone to put it together to make it more of a wedding video.

I am debating about this also, but I think I am going to get a video. We are getting married at Beaches T&C so we have to use their videographer. We are not having anyone (except our daughter) so we want something to show interested family members. It seems expensive, but I'm thinking that the actual ceremony and such will fly by and be such a whirlwind that I'll not remember anything! I think later I would regret it if I didn't get one...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
