Wedding Planning Journal - January 24 2011

Recommended Posts

Well!

Petals and jersey girl inspired me to create a planning journal of my own!

My Fiance Chad and Myself are getting married really soon!

We got engaged last year feburary 2010 in Punta Cana. We were staying at the Majestic Colonial.. We had gone on a two week vacation. We had gone up with my parents, my sister and her fiance at the time (now husband). Valentines day was by far one of the greatest days!

Chad set us up to have a warm chocolate massage, hot tub, and hour massage - all of which was amazing. Then for supper we had a dinner for two on the beach. We had our own server and four courses. it was SO romantic! as i looked at our dessert i looked up and suddenly he wasn't sitting across from me anymore - he was down on one knee next to me! Couldn't have asked for a better proposal!

My mother took this right before we went for supper on valentines day!

From this moment on - and even before we knew we wanted a destination wedding. We would have went back to the magestic but we figure we've already been to dominican and wanted to try something new. So we decided jamaica was our destination.

I found the most difficult part was choosing the resort in jamaica. I ended up between the ibostar and the grand palladium. I think the photos of the resort finally made me decide on which one to go with.

we decided on the grand palladium -

we chose the pearl package - for a 4pm sunset ceremony

We send out Save the dates first

That may look pink on the screen but it did print out red!

I then got to go through different wedding coordinators one after another trying to plan the actual day. I would just like to say - this website i finally found a month and a half ago and it was the BEST website ever, as well as palladiumaddict.com.

We are doing our honeymoon the week after our wedding. We are flying from jamaica to Miami - then to orlando. Spending three days there seeing the sights and doing a 4 day cruise through the bahamas on a carnival sensation cruise! I'm a little nervous about the cruise as its our first time!

I chose my weddings colors to be simple and really not tropical -ish at all! red white and black.

My wedding dress shopping. I bought the first dress i tried on and loved it. I didn't want to get a "destination dress" only because i figure you get married once - iw anted to be a princess.

Here is my dress - on the model of course (real pictures to come in just over a monthsmile43.gif ( Thats my wow face )

And my bridesmaids chose these dresses - i asked them to alter them however they feel fit! Please keep in mind we are having a reception back home where we get to dress up AGAIN and it could be -40 that day (who knows) so they flipped between long and short (stay tunned!)

My honeymoon i'm excited for!

We are leaving Jamaica on the 27th of January to fly into Miami then orlando spending three days there seeing the sights (hopefully buschs gargen as i hear its fun!) and then going on a 4 day bahaman cruise with Carnival. On the sensation.. if anyone been PLEASE give me pointers or tips as this is our first cruise and im VERY nervous. Then when we get back home on the 3rd at night and our reception for the friends and familys that count not make it is on the 5th!

My OOT bags..

now this i had issues with! - i couldn't decide what to put in that wouldn't take too much time (or extra money) and wouldn't take all my weight since i am brining my own flowers and other wedding stuff.

sunscreen

hand sanitizer

clap stick

lint roller

shout to go wipes

pocket pack of klenex

going to get a few more items... haven't quite finished that yet but bought all that stuff at target when i was in the states. I will post pictures once i have them completed.

I complied a "welcome book" for everyone. It has every single drink (alcoholic and non), each restaurant and their menus, the buffet themes, rainy day activities, regular activie schedule, all the tours, golf courses ect! should make it easy for people to navigate! If anyone wants the book PM your email address and i'd be happy to send it to you! (i'll post pictures of that also!)

We chose a Private reception option at the blue lagoon restaurant after our sunset ceremony, and choose off of bubbas menu.

I have yet to choose my hairstyle... Wondering what people thing about the lightly curly side bun thing? i havent found a picture yet but... we'll see.

As for makeup apparently there is this amazing makeup artisit in jamaica.. but we just went to MAC got them to do ut makeup and teach us how and bought what they showed up(seemed more fun actually owning the makeup after!)

More photos and info on planning on the way!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
